John D. Nye Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr Nye and all at his practice are very awesome. The wait is always a little long but always well worth it. He is very good at his craft and also very honest from the start about the risks and benefits of surgery.

I met Dr Nye when my wife Mimi was going thru the process of the surgery he preformed her surgery in Oct of 03 she did great and his attention to her and our family during the event was most impressive. He also has an impressive staff which are of great help and information. So it made perfect sence to choose someone I have met and am confident in. This is a very serious surgery.

He seemed genuinely sincere about wanting to help the obese patient. It has taken a long time for approval for my surgery. The office staff are terrific...very supportive and positive during the battle with the insurance company for the surgery approval. I like the selection I made with this particular surgeon. Don't let looks be deceiving! His hair is a bit longish...he wears a gold hoop earing! He is very down to earth, I really like him. Aftercare--he demands (well I SAY demands, he actually requests) a 5 year minimal follow up with him after surgery. Yes aftercare is structured. Addressed risks of surgery with this opening statement..."this surgery can kill you". So far...I would rate on a scale of 1-10....surgeon and staff a "10". I will follow up with another note after surgery takes place.

He was a very down to Earth and honest person. Very blunt but didn't sugar coat things.

Later I realized Dr. Nye was also a truama surgeon and that really impressed me, and made me feel safe.

His office staff are very friendly...it's a family atmosphere.

He will tell you to no end that after surgery is up to you, if you don't follow through you will not succeed and can die.

Before the first visit I was told to write down a list of any and all questions I had, also I had to keep a 3 week food diary. In the first consultation we spent about 2 hours talking and discussing anything I had a concern about...there were no questions left unanswered.

Dr. Nye is a great doctor!! I appreciate honesty in a person and would trust this man with my life at any time...again.

Dr. Nye, his wife (RN) Rose, and his staff is great! They are really nice and they make you feel so comfortable there. The day they found out I was approved they called to set an appointment. I was surprised the appointments available was within the next week or two but insisted that I get something just a tad bit later.

I was pleasantly surprised by Dr. Nye's honest and straight-forwardness. I asked what I thought was a zillion questions, and he did take the time to answer them without making me feel stupid. He stressed aftercare and having someone stay in the hospital with you. I was impressed by the fact that Baptist hospital has a unit dedicated to bariatrics.
I am still in the process of getting my preop evaluations together, so I don't know how quickly the authorization paperwork will be sent in.
I wasn't seen until 1 1/2 hrs after my appointment time. But emergencies can arise so we'll see what happens next time.
All-in-all it was a great experience.

He is very Honest and up front.I had actually had him as a surgeon 13 yrs prior. I still respect and love him dearly. His staff is loving and caring and know each patient by name and they truly care. They make you feel that you are not just another patient. I like everything about him and his staff. He is honest and if you do not want to know an answer do not ask him. HE is very strong about after care long term and short term. Yes. He has a 5 yr after care program. He was honest with me he explained the risk to me with out beating around the bush. On a scale of 1-10 I give him a 100!!!!!Bot are great and HE has BOTH!!!!

-Dr Nye put me right at ease with the procedure, himself and his staff.
-It's only gotten better over the the past few months.
-Dr Nye's office and staff are very comforting to their patients.
-Dr Nye and his staff are Tops in my book, I don't have any complaints.
-He and his staff are very knowledgable, caring and friendly. Sometimes they run behind schedule, but don't we all LOL.
-Aftercare is empasized zealously by the doctor and his staff.
-You're instructed to walk as much as possible and to attend monthly support groups.
-Dr Nye is forthright about the risk of surgery. No sugar coating at all.
-Dr Nye is a Godsend!!! He saved my life.
-Dr Nye is the best physician that I have had the pleasure of meeting and believe me I've had to see/meet plenty of them as the weight came on LOL.

He really Cared about me and my surgery bECAUSE i WANTED TOSKIP ON EOF HIS REQUIRED STEPS AND HE REFUSED TO BEND
MY OPINION OF HIM HAS NOT CHANGED
HIS OFFICE ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD THEY ARE SO FRIENDLY AS WELL AS CARING
ILIKE LEAST IS THE SAME AS I LOVE THE MOST HE WILL NOT LET YOU GET AWAY WITH SHORTCUTS AND I LOVE TAKINGSHORTCUTS IF ICAN
HE SAYS WHAT HE MEANS AND HE SAYS WHAT HE MEANS A LOT YES
HE WILL NOT DO SURGERY UNTILL HE MEETS THE PERSON THAT WILL BE INCHARGE OF YOU AT RECOVERY AT THAT TIME HE WILL GO INTO YOUR RECOVERY IN DETAILS


HE IS DEFINATELY A #10


BOTH WERE FANTASTIC

For me first impressions are everything & Dr. Nye and his staff couldn't have been more wonderful! He was straight forward which I love and took the time not only to answer the million and one questions I had but ones my husband had as well. He sat down and took the time and I didn't feel as if I was being rushed out of his office like I have had happen at other doctors.

The more I get to know not only Dr.Nye but all his staff the more I am greatful to have them! They are wonderful and listen and help in anyway that they can.

I can't say that there is anything I least like about Dr.Nye he is the BEST! I wish I could take him with me when I move to New Jersey :-)

I would reccomend Dr. Nye to everyone! I would use him again in a heart beat!! He was and is the GREATEST!!

Follow up care is important and he likes to follow his patients for 5yrs post-op. He is involved in the monthly support gropu meetings to spite his very busy schedule. He tells you it exactly how it is and expects you to follow instructions! He lays it all out on the table and tells you ALL the risks and benifits the first visit. He doesn't hold anything back and is the most open doctor I have met.

If I had to rate dr. Nye and his staff on a scale from 1 (being the lowest) to 10 (being the highest) they would get a 10 no doubt!!
