My first impression of Dr. Vaughan was very insiteful. He is very knowledgeable of his work and very eager to answer all questions. He is very knowledgeable and very very friendly. His staff are outstanding, friendly and knowledgeable as well. So far i have no complaints about the doctor or the staff. Dr. Vaughan offices video tapes and a seminar to assist with any and all questions.

I first met Dr. Vaughan at one of his lectures. He is not overweight and I asked him why he did this, why did he care. His answer was that this was the only surgery that could resolve so many problems (co-morbidities) with one surgery. That impressed me, he seemed sincere. After my consultation when he let me ask as many questions as I wanted and answered them completely, I knew he was a good doctor. As I spoke to many of his patients I learned that he was a good surgeon as well as a good man. He has a great sense of humor which I always appreciate.

His staff is friendly, efficient and effective. Carol, Debbie and Tina put up with my calls and question and always get back to me with answers.

Nutrition and aftercare are important to Dr. V. He is sure to let you know that RNY is not a cure for obesity but a tool and how you use that tool is up to you.

His aftercare program includes a gym with exercise equipment and a swimming pool area that is for the exclusive use of bariatric patients (no skinny minnies to compete with, except those who have been where we are).

He address the risk of surgery up front and answered any questions about the risk frankly and completely. I am completely informed about the risks but am not afraid to take the risk.

I will not have surgery until 05/06/2002 but I am confident his surgical skills are above average, and I am sure his bedside manner is equal to the task.

Dr. Vaughan was very informative durning his lecture. He is very candid. I liked that, because I had done so much research before I chose him, I did not want a bunch bull from some one. He is helpful and to the point. His staff is extremely helpful as well as the staff that co-ordinates for you between the Dr's office and the hospital. My stay at Jupiter Medical was great! It was my first stay in a hospital ever, and I was scared. They really take care of you. The whole operation is top notch, I would highly recommend Dr. Vaughen to anyone who is considering this type of surgery.

2/15/02 I have not met Dr. Vaughan yet but I have been extremely impressed with his office assistant Carol. She has kept me in the loop while she is seeking out approval from my insurance.
2/20/02 Today I attended Dr. Vaughans seminar. He was very informative and willing to answer all questions.
3/13/02 I met Dr. Vaughan today at a pre-op appointment. I was very impressed with his knowledge and reassurance. He was very helpful and informative...although any questions I had or any thing he told me I pretty much already knew due to the extensive research I have done. The office staff were extremely friendly and very supportive. If I had any complaints at all it would probably be the size of the chairs in the lobby. I was surprised that he didn't have larger chairs to accomadate his larger clientele. I would definitely give Dr. Vaughan a 9.5 on a scale of 1 - 10 though!!

Dr. Vaughn is very professional and competent surgeon. Over time I learned he was also a very caring and wonderful person. I was in the hospital due to complications { anesthesia} for 4 weeks, 2&1/2 weeks in the ICU. I could count on him to be at my bedside every morning. I also could count on him to truely listen to me and ansewer all of my questions. He also followed up and took care of any problems I encountered with anything.
He has a very structured aftercare program. Unfortunatly I live out of state and could not participate.I had traveled to Florida as I had heard he was a great surgeon and did limited cases so that he could take good care of his patients. We update by letter and phone calls monthly.
I would rate Dr. Vaughn and his staff as A+.

After researching the surgery itself for three years I finally desided to have it done. This was obviously not a desicion I took lightly so finding a surgeon was took just as seriously. I researched five different doctor's in my area. Dr V and his office where not only the friendliest but also the most helpful of the five I researches. Dr. Vaughan is a fabulous surgeon. He walked me step by step through everything. He and/or his staff were always there if I had questions. One time I even called on a Sunday Morning and Dr. Vaughan called me back from the golf course. The hospital that he does the surgeries at has even dedicates a wing of the hospital to WLS paitents. They have special beds, wheelchair etc. Dr. V has several support groups around Floirda plus a website that has a chat area and a message board.

I beleive that all surgeons should be checked and double checked before you schedule your consultation. Ask lots of questions and if the surgeon him haws or advoids the question DO NOT use them.

He is very knowledgable and a very likable person.

Impression is still the same.

Not as good as they could be but maybe they are just very short staffed.

Office staff to busy to deal with what they need to do.

Future patients should keep at them but do it nicely.

Aftercare...not sure yet.

They have a pool excersize program.

5% risk of dying and lots of uncomforableness after surgery.

So far pretty good.

Don't know yet.

my first impression of my surgeon was great but then i realized i wouldn't be meeting him in person until i had met all the criteria for surgery and made the sizable copay upfront. my fears were relieved when i got my surgery date and they told me i would have an extensive appt with him and then go to an additional class before i could have my surgery. i was also required to attend a comprehensive seminar that was most informative.

I met Dr. Vaughan for the first time at one of his lectures. He seems very nice, has a sense of humor and genuinely cares about his patients. He is very knowledgable, he even teaches other doctors how to do Lap procedures. Carol (his assistant?) is also very nice, takes the time to explain various things to you, very friendly. I would recommend going to one of his lectures to anyone! It was very informative, and he told it like it is, which I don't find very often in Doctors. I'll let you know more after my surgery! :)

I will say one very important thing, his office staff is always available and helpful, which makes this process much easier.

I'm post-op now and just wanted to add that Dr. Vaughan has a great bedside manner, he really cares about his patients and I felt great under his care. He checked on me atleast twice a day when I was in the hospital and when there was a problem at night (I broke out from one of the meds) he was available without delay. I love him and the work he does for "us"!!!

I don't have anything negative to say about him or his staff. They're great!
