My opinion hasn't changed, I find him to be a kind and caring man.

The girls in the office help you as much as they can.Rick Mark is a great coordinator and answers the question you have.

The only down side is the times he is available to see you in his office.. Monday and Thursdays from 5:00 pm til when ever he's done.
Rick gives you a suggested aftercare program, that when you read through it, you find something new each time. If you have ?'s he is right there to asnwer them.
Rick informed me of the risks that can happen with this surgery.
I would rate Dr.Nazarian and Rick Mark with the highest ratings.

With regards to surgical competence and bedside manner, both are great.

Very quiet, thoughtful gentleman. Answered all my questions His presentation is factual and to the point.
Rick in the office is great he and Dr N make a great team..will keep you posted as time goes by just into the first phase of this journey

I have not met him, only his staff. Rick Mark is wonderful. I do wish that they required more services such as a psych eval. That could be my personal bias since I am working on my psychotherapy license and know the value of working on the mind AND body connection. I may be starting a support group in L.A. area following my surgery. My personal opinion regarding the importance of after care is that it is important. As far as I know, this Dr. emphasizes the medical aspects which is very good and important but has not had the opportunity yet to connect his patients to strong psychosocial support prior to or following surgery. I would still recommend Dr. Nazarian for anyone who is able to seek and maintain support on their own.

My first impression of Dr. Nazarian, was that he was interested in you as a person and not in a hurry to move to the next patient. He laughs easily. Dr. Nazarian, along with verbal instructions uses a hand out with everything you need to know, do and have on hand, with specific instructions on what to do in certain situations. Rick Mark the program coordinator is GREAT, and very helpful and genuine in his caring. I guess it is hard to rate a surgeon until you actually have the surgery, but pre-operately I feel he is very thorough, with testing and instructions. Rick is always available by e-mail or phone. I feel surgical competence and bedside manner are equally important, because your attitude post operatively can affect your recovery, and if you feel insignificant, or "in the way" so to speak, that does not make for good recovery. A happy patient is a healthy patient!

I was very impressed with Dr. Nazarian. He spent a lot of time with my husband and me answering questions and he made us feel at ease. His staff was also very friendly. Rick Mark is the greatest! Having gone through the surgery himself, he has been a great source of support and information. I'll post more after surgery on March 14, 2001!

Dr Nazarian is quiet but very nice. Rick Mark, is the best always makes you feel special. I will write more after my surgery

2/17/01. 10 DAYS POST OP. If you want a great surgeon, contact Dr Nazarian. I am very impressed on how I am healing and how small my incision is. I was afraid of infection but there was none.

Great surgeon. Very compassionate man. His staff is not the best however. They do not relay messages promptly or complete paperwork in a timely manner. Because Dr. N is in high demand he is hard to get a hold of. I would highly recommend him as a surgeon, but maybe find a bariatric surgeon closer to home (if possible) after the first year post-op.

Very thorough and showed a great deal of compasion.After having many surgeries I must say that, in my opinion he is the BEST that I have had the pleasue to see. NOTHING was to be disliked about this man and his overall care in dealing with his patients.The staff is also very helpful and willing to assist in any way possible. In particular Mr. Rick Mark is responsible for my being able to see Dr. Nazarian as quickly as Dec. 7 2000 which was imperitive due to my insurance changing which would have meant a delay of about 6 or7 months.He can be reached at 1 888 576 3733 or 1 213 623 9764 , and tell him Diane Beaty says thanks ,again.While the hospital is being renovated ,it didn't detract from my feeling of well being.

I went and saw Dr. Nazarian yesterday for my intake session. My first impression of him was very positive. He is somewhat quiet and kind in his nature. He has extensive experience and a stong background in this type of surgery. He answered all my questions and I felt very comortable with putting my life in his hands. He made me feel relaxed and at ease. I also felt that he had a sincere heart for this business and was not just doing it to make a good living. I would recommend him to anyone who is interested in this type of surgery.

I was very impressed with Dr. Nazarian and his staff - Especially RICK MARK - he is awesome. I am in a unique situation: I am a military wife living overseas in Okinawa, Japan and the Dr's staff were so helpful and worked out all the obstacles we faced with my distance.
I would rate Dr. Nazarian a 10 - his surgical competance was fantastic!
