My first impression of Dr. V was great! He is someone who cares. His office staff is great also...very supportive. He is very caring and supportive, and they tell you if any questions or you need any support, to call them. There are a few risks and they do explain them to you before you go through the surgery. They never let anyone go into this "new life" blind. Everything is explained to you. And you are also given some time to think about it. Yes it is a very scary change to go through, but also very rewarding too!!Aftercare is also ery important. You have to make sure that you take all of your vitamins, because of your stomach being reduced to size, you cant take in as many vitamins as you should...Overall, the care is great!!
My first impression of Dr. Viglianco is that he is a very caring person. Over time, my impression of him only got better!
The office staff was truly wonderful also. The dieticians work very closly with me to make sure I'm eating what I should be. They emphasize how important it is to get all of your fluids and protein in.
Dr. Vig did explain the risks of the surgery, and aside the major risks with any surgical procedure, risks with the RNY are pretty much minimal, and very treatable.
I would rate Dr. Vig a 12 out of 10! That's how much I like and trust him. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are great!
The only complaint I have about my entire experience is that because they are so busy, it's hard to get a real person on the phone instead of voice mail. However, all of my messages were returned promptly, and all of my questions were answered. The day of surgery, I was told to be there at 10:30 a.m. Unfortunately, my surgery was scheduled last that day. I wasn't taken back to pre-op until around 3:30, and was taken into surgery around 4:30. I got to my room at 8:00 p.m. It was a very long day for my husband!
Dr. Vig is an excellent surgeon. An excellent bed side manner. He is very caring and really seems to be simpathetic to the problems of obese people. I really was in too much pain to notice him while in the hospital, but when I saw him again at my 2 week check up I really noticed what a nice man he is.
The one thing that I can say is that I have not been please with one aspect of my experience with The Bariatric Treatment Center. From the first consultation I have had problems. My appointment was for 11:00 and I did not get seen until 1:00 and was there for 5 hours. Then when I tried to call and see how my insurance case was coming along, I could never get anyone on the phone or to return my calls. After I received my approval letter, it took another 3 weeks to schedule my surgery. No one returns calls. It was the most frustrating experience of my life.
My suggestion is that Dr. Vig go out on his own. Love him, hate BTC.
Dr V took a lot of time with spouse and myself at first vist. I am a nurse and had LOTS of questions. Even though he got the 3rd degree from me,he took his time and was very patient with some very pointed questions. My husband and I are very impressed with his approach, knowledge, caring attitude.
Preop I do not remember seeing him . .isn't Versed great . .postop . . my family members were very impressed with his sensitivity, professionalism, and caring attitude. This was really great to hear since most of my family members had not met my surgeon and even though they were supportive of my decision . . they still were very anxious . .Thanks Dr Vig for a new life
Postop rounds were done by Dr Choban . . she was great.
I went back for my 6 week checkup. It was a great check up. I keep expecting the scales to go the ohter way, but they don't. I told Dr. Vig. I expect you guys to yell about me weight. He said we don't yell here. And just smilled at me. This is a whole different experience for me. Dr.s alway yell about my weight and tell me I have to lose.
I ask him, "am I eating to much?" He said "if anything, you aren't eating enough." Can you believe that. Those words said about me? I wish I had taken a tape recorder. LOL To record those glorious words. LOL. No yelling or negative. Just a "Your right on target" and a hug. I can get used to this.
Today I am 29 days post op. Wow. Dr. Viglianco did such a wonderful job. My incision is so fine and straight. I couldn't help show it off at my last support meeting. When it is all healed up, I'm thinking it might not hardly show. Dr. Viglianco was just great at all our meetings. He even put Ed at ease. I tell everyone next to Ed, Dr. Viglianco is the most amazing man I know. He saved my life. And BCC in Grove City, They were so good to me. I was truely blessed to of found them. If I were to tell anyone anything about Dr. Vig. It would be, for something like this, go for the best and that is Dr. Vig and Dr. K. This surgery is to serious, don't take any chances.
Dr. Viglianco did my surgery on June 20, 2001. I think he did a great job.
I meet Dr. Viglianco at his office in Grove City on April 13th. Yep, Friday the 13th.
He was very nice and explained everything and answered every question I an Ed had. I also met some of his staff. They were really nice especially Evonne. She also went through this proceedure years back and I believe she said she lost 132lb. She was very pretty and upbeat. She really impressed me and Ed. Dr. Viglianco took his time with both of us. I was very impressed. My appointment wasn't until 3:00 but we got there at 1:30 and they took us in early. We were not rushed at all and had all the time we needed. It took me about 10 minutes to fill out the forms. We got out about 3:00. They gave us directions so we can go see the hospital. The seats in that place are like love seats, very large. The pictures are soo pretty!!! I believe surgical competence and bedside manner is as important as the other. He told me how much I should lose. This was a super consultation.I ask them to not tell my husband my weight or what I need to lose. He did as I requested and discussed it with me in the examing room. I was able to discuss this with Ed myself. I liked it that he respected my wishes.
