the office people are always trying to get your approval best bet try to help the office by finding oout about your insurance and what your policy covers

Dr. Cahill is very strong on aftercare you have to be seriuos about a life long change and have to br proactive in your own recoveryand follow the aftercare program.

Dr. Cayhill and his staff are wonderful. He does the surgery out of Little company of Mary in Evergreen Park Illinois. They tend to you they do all kind of preop tasted they make sure before you have the surgery that you are in tip top shape. When I went to see him for the first time, I was wasn't mentally prepared for none of this, but believe me after I talked to him, and I saw all the testing he did for me, and the groups meeting that I went to and met with all his staff from his nurse, coordinator, nutrionist, and his assistant that helps with all the insurance information i was more mentally prepared than I would have ever been. He is such a sweet person and he will tell you like it is, he explains to you anything you ask or you will like to know. I couldn't be more happy and glad that I went to him to have my surgery done. The best thing about all of this is that it is being done at a hospital and none the least to say about the hospital staff at Little Company of Mary they are well trained staff for Gastricbypass Surgery patient and they are fantastic. If I had to do it again I would go with them in a heart beat. The best of it all, you can email them for anything you need and they would answer you right away. They will work as hard as they could with your insurance to try to get you approved(Donna is great). Their aftercare program is marvelous, they have support groups the first Wednesday of every month, Tony,Tiffany, and his nutritionist Lisa, are always there for you when ever you have a question, or if you don't feel good their support is great believe me I know. Overall if I have to rate Midwest Bariatric from 1 to 10 I would rate them an 11!!! They are great!!!

I can't say nothing negative about them because I did not have any bad experience with them.

The only negative about the surgery when I had it is that since I had Open Surgery which is not laporscopic I had to wait for 2 days for icechips or water my mouth was so dry that it hurt, but they advice you to take chapstick. That is the only thing that I have to say that was on the negative side.

My first impression of Dr. Cahill he is awesome. He made me feel extremely comfortable and his record was perfect. The staff Donna,Tony, Lisa and Tiffany are great if you ever have a problem someone is always there to assist you. If you want a caring Doctor whom is very personal and concerned Cahill is the one. Dr. Cahill has one of the best aftercare program and if you follow his program you will loose a significant amount of weight. Since my surgery I have recommended 4 other people to go see him and they have all started the process of allowing him to do there surgery, every one of them Thanked me for sharing him with them.

He was easy to talk to and very informative. He let me know what I can expect from the surgery and answered any questions I have. His office staff is very knowledgable. He did address the risks surgery and also let me now that he has a no mortality rate, that is, he has never lost a patient and has had only 1 patient with complictions who is doing well today. What I found very helpful is that the Midwest Barictric Institute has started a weight management program in dealing with insurance issues regarding the supervised diet. Now you can attend support group meeting and go thru counseling sessions in which the medical officials will document your progress in diet and excercise.

I new as soon as I met Dr. Cahill that he would be the one to do my sugery. He was very straight forward and to the point. I thought his office staff was very nice and professional. There is really nothing that I could say bad about him. The aftercare program is great. I enjoy going to the monthly meetings and seeing the great progress that everyone is making. Over all I feel that Dr Cahill is a very good Dr. If I had to do it all over again I would go back to him.

Well lets start from the beginning. I went to UIC first in June 2003 and went thru testing but my insurance company denied me. I fell into a deep depression. I have a friend Linda who wanted to have the surgery too so I went to the internet and just out in gastric by pass and I wanted a doctor close to I could keep all my commitments for the surgery. So I had e-mailed Tony Dr. Cahills assistant HELP he e-mailed a couple of days later and told me to call and make an appointment and I will have the surgery and that is what he said after I gave him my info. I saw Dr Cahill in August and the first appointment was scary but Dr made me fell relaxed he explained everything and said I was a good candidate I told him about the denial from bc/bs ppo he said I would have the surgery. Well after receiving a denial about 4 weeks later. I called Donna at Dr Cahill's office and she don't worry she would help me in any way and that she did. I slipped into a major depression thinking someone didn't want me to get healthy. So I night I typed out a 3 page appeal and mailed it the nest day. No response for a while I called everyday asking was it reversed (the appeal) they said no,no and no. But on 12-23-03 I called and the lady at bc/bs ppo said as of just 20 minutes ago the appeal was reversed and I was granted approval. I was so nervous I called 1 hour later and asked for them to read that to me again. I immediatly called Dr Cahill's office his staff was just as excited as me and very helpful with everything I informed them and then we set a date of 12-20-03. The testing started and I was ready. Nervous but so very excited and what helped was my family now realized I was serious to lose the weight and would support me. I can say Dr Cahill and his staff and associates are the BEST. They made my anticipation of surgery relaxing and very very informative. When ever I had questions I usually got an immediate answer. DR CAHILL AND STAFF AND ASSOCIATES ARE THE VERY BEST. THANK YOU ALL AT MIDWEST BARIATRIC...

My first impression of Dr. Cahill was, whow, how young this guy is and how many surgerys has he performed. After talking, became much more comfortable with him.

After a 2 hour meeting with Dr. Cahill, I was a lot more relaxed and confident with him and his abilities.

His staff for the most part are very professional, friendly and efficient.

There is not anything that I can think of that I do not like about Dr. Cahill.

Dr. Cahill is very upfront and professional and will not hold back.

I feel that more emphasis needs to be addressed on after surgery care/needs, especially diet & nutrition.

If there is an aftercare program, I cannot recall being told much about it, except for external support groups outside of his immediate practice.

In the beginning, most of the bases I felt were covered addressing the surgery risks. However, not everything was covered. I recently had to be readmitted in the hospital for 4 days for abdominal hernia surgery whihc was a direct result of the gastric surgery and this side effect was never mentioned/discussed by the suregon/staff before or after surgery.

Overall my rating of Dr. Cahill is excellent with just a little room for improvement in certain areas of his proactice.

I feel that both surgical competence and hospital bedside manners are equally important in a patients recovery.

I was very glad that I went to Dr. Cahill for a consultation. I felt very comfortable as soon as he sat down and started talking. He explained all the WLS options to me very thoroughly. He also listened to everything I had to say and answered all my questions in a very professional manner. He was very honest and to the point. He makes sure you know all the risks involved. He wants you to be sure exactly what you want before you schedule a surgery date. He does not try to push the surgery on you at all. Dr. Cahill's office staff was very friendly and helpful also. Especially, Donna!!! She works so hard to get your insurance approval and calls you on a regular basis to update you. She is never too busy for you. If you have any questions do not ever hesitate to call her, because she never makes you feel like you are bothering her. This woman works very hard! All in all I highly recommend Dr. Cahill and his staff!

Met with Dr.Cahill today for the first time. He was great! He answered all of the questions my husband and I had for him and even kept his cool while my 2 yr old nephew gave himself a tour of the room. I liked that he asked me what I wanted and asked about me-most doctors just say "I see here you ...." He helped ease some of my insurance worries which helped greatly! All in all it was a great first visit and hope to report back soon with some news about my insurance letter.
