Very friendly and knowledgeable. I have had only one consultation so far, and we spent almost 90 minutes together! I did not feel that he "sold me" anything; he simply made recommendations based on my questions.
Future patients should feel comfortable with him. He emphasized aftercare, possible risks of surgery and post-op issues that may arise.
So far, I am happy.
Post-op, the surgeon has been wonderful and helpful with any questions I have had. I found him very easy to talk to and approachable.
I attended the informational seminar and and support group affiliated with my surgeon and his group. I was very impressed and very excited. Dr. Cahill's staff has a wonderful reputation. Dr. Cahill made an appearance at the informational seminar and answered questions in a professional but down to earth manner. He seems rather shy but was very friendly and supportive when I met with him personally. Donna his secretary was extremely helpful and patient while we were waiting for the insurance approval.
Dr. Cahill covered all areas of the surgery, before, after and answered any and all questions. He doesn't "sugar-coat" anything but he didn't leave you terrified either.
Dr. Cahill is very professional and thorough with his exam and explaination of the surgery. He explains all risks and leaves nothing out! He listens to everything you have to say and answers any questions you may have without making you feel stupid etc. I work at the hospital he is affilliated with and have heard nothing but excellent reviews from staff who work with him or know his reputation as a surgeon. I am confidant that he will take good care of me during and after my procedure.
Dr. Cahill's a wonderful doctor, and very concerned that both he and the patient are COMPLETELY comfortable before he'll even consider the surgery. Everyone in his office is very kind and helpful. When I first came in, I was worried that I would get bad looks, or that they would say things about me behind my back, but they've all been wonderful. I can honestly say that every meeting I've had with him was VERY comfortable.. I have no complaints at all. He's very thorough in his questions, and he places a tremendous emphasis on aftercare, as well as the bariatric nurse, Tony does. He spent many hours adressing the risks and benefits of the surgery in person and on the phone. I had a little over an hour in transit to go see him for the meetings, but he is well worth the trip. Overall, I give him my highest rating. He's a wonderful man, and a spectacular doctor... after all, I AM trusting him w3ith my life! I honestly don't have anything negative I could say about him. At first, we had a date scheduled for the surgery, but he said that he wasn't comfortable that I was fully aware of everything, and that caused many tears, and upset me a LOT, even to the point of being angry at him... but he told me to go to the seminars, and I did, and I actually realized that he was right - I WASN'T totally prepared at the time. That's the only possible negative thing I could say, and even that turned out to be positive.
My first impression of Dr. Cahill at the seminar meeting was that he is not really comfortable speaking to large groups of people, but he is very thorugh with his explaination of the surgery. However, the Manager of the Bariatric program, Tony Romeo, certainly makes up th ediference for Dr. Cahill at the meetings. Tony is very out going, easy to talk with and very informative.
Once I spoke with Dr. Cahill alone, i was very happy to find that he is very easy to talk with; he did not rush through our meeting, he was very informative and made sure that I was aware of all the risks involved with this surgery. He allowed me to ask questions without the sense that I was using up his time. He stressed the importance of keeping in contact post op and if I had any concerns, he is available; as well as the Manager, Tony.
With this program, there are monthly support groups, I have attended one rpior to my surgery, and am very impressed with it.I definietly will be a part of this group.
His office staff,Donna, is a wonderfully pleasant lady. She is very helpful and caring.
My overall rating can be explained like this, I am very happy with my choice of surgeon and staff, I am very comfortable with this decision and am very calm going into the surgery as all my questions have been answered and if I have any along the way, I know they will be answered. I would not have any reservations about recommending Dr. Cahill to other people. As an added peice, I would also like to say that I am a Registered nurse and have many years of experience with doctors, so I'm confident with my choice.
I had first "met" Dr Cahill at the seminar on Feb 12. I was very impressed with his attitude towards the people in the audience. It was never a hard sell. He kept telling us that each person is different and each case is different. I was convinced right then that he was the surgeon for me.
I met with Dr. Cahill on Saturday, February 24. I was so nervous!!! He put me at ease right away. We discussed the surgery, the recovery and anything you can think about, as far as the surgery is concerned.
Dr Cahill considered my health history while determining what other docators to see. I have since seen a Psychologist and am seeing a neurologist on Tuesday, March 5. Then, all I do is wait.
Dr Cahill's staff is absolutely wonderful. They are always happy to talk to you and/or see you. It makes crossing that threshold much easier.
Dr. Cahill is great. He is very imformative and willing to provide whatever information you request. He emphasized aftercare discipline. He discussed all aspects of the surgery including risks that are associated with this type of surgery. He desires that you are comfortable with this surgery, the program, and with your decision for a permanant lifestyle change.
What I appreciated the most was the sturctured pre and post aftercare program. The program is designed to help you achieve your goals. You will meet with several professionals on his staff, who will assist you on your journey. What makes this program exciting, is that they are there your entire process from beginning to end. There is a nutritionist, psychologist and pulmonary specialist. Again making this program ideal over any other I have research.
I would rate Dr. Cahill as excellent. I am confident that he will provide the best possible service. Also, I believe that anyone looking for a doctor should consider Dr. Cahill and his staff.
My doctor right now is great. He's very imformative and everything. The only thing that scared me is when I went to see the nutritionist it was like???WHAT NOW?I really didnt know what to do afterwards since the nutrionist didnt have anymore information for me besides to eat 1700 calories a day. After I went back to the doctor he gave me a bit more information and expressed he would like for me to lose 15 pounds before the surgery so that it my healing time woud be better and have a lesser chance of a scar.So at this point I am very excited to be making a decision that will be good for my health and my social life.I will recommend to anyone to STUDY STUDY STUDY.Do alot of research to get reassurance on your thoughts. The best way to get rid of your negative thoughts is to actually research waht the precedure actually is,the risks, and the post risks.Become aware.
