Dr. Rumsey was very kind and thorough and professional. He answered all my questions and reassured me that all would be well. I like him very much. Occasionally, he is a little short with answers.
My first impressions about Dr. Rumsey haven't changed.
The office staff is very efficient and very kind. They are encouraging.
There is a strong emphasis placed on aftercare and following all the protocols of diet and exercise. The aftercare system is very structured and clear.
The risks of surgery were addressed very candidly with a positive approach.
I think Dr. Rumsey is an excellent doctor.
Both are great!
Wow! Dr. Rumsey is the best! He is my "HERO" to say the least, he has terrific beside manner and always checked to see how I was feeling. All I can say is that you are as good as your "Surgeon" make you feel, and by all means "Dr. Rumsey" made me feel terrific! I am 9 days post-op and feeling great!
Even before surgery Dr. Rumsey let me know well in advance on what his expectations were and all of his suggustion before surgery were a plus because they were only suggustions that were benefical to my well being. I was truely blessed in having Dr. Rumsey perform my surgery... He is the "GREATEST!"
My first impression of Dr. Rumsey, was that he is a professional and gets right to the point in making sure you understand what this surgery is all about. He put me at ease and we were able to discuss any questions I had and answered those questions in verbiage that I could understand. After the exam and all of the discussion was complete, I felt that we both had a better understanding of one another and how to approach the other. His office staff was very helpful and didn't rush through anything. I didn't feel as though I was just another numbered patient.
Dr. Rumsey is very strict about following the guidelines regarding the pre care of the surgery and what you should be doing ahead of time to prepare yourself for the surgery. He was happy that I'd lost weight since the seminar I'd attended and requested that I attempt to lose another 10-15 pounds, which I had intended to do anyways. He stressed that if I gained weight, that it would postpone the surgery.
He is very thorough in the aftercare procedure and stresses that you go over the pamplet that is provided by the nurse and to make sure you call if you have any questions whatsoever! During his discussion with you, Dr. Rumsey will inform you of all of the risks and the percentages incurred by Pacific Bariatric patients, I have to admit, that the percentages where much lower for their patients as opposed to the national numbers, which gives me a lot of confidence in the doctors at PB. I would definitly rate Dr. Rumsey, on a scale of 1-10 as a 9, which might change after the surgery. But I have seen his surgical skills on one of his returning patients and he does cut a very thin and straight incision, which was healing very well for this patient.
I was really pleased with Dr. Rumsey. He was very informative and allowed me to ask all the questions I wanted to. Throughout the entire process I found him to be very knowledgeable and has a great bedside manner. As for the office staff...lets just say they need a tad bit more organization. I found it to be very frustrating to have someone different handling my file every time I called. This can make any one wonder how much care is going into each individual.
First impression-he seemed like a nice person however he was rushed the day of my consult, I could tell.
Office staff was kind. My biggest dislike was he indicated at my consult a period he wanted to do my surgery and my date ended up being a month later than i anticipated. Don't believe the surgeon on surgery dates. other than that, he was thorough in describing exactly what was going to happen. I haven't had enough time with him to rate him yet, pre surgery info was good. in terms of which is better, surgical competence or bedside manner, i would prefer both but if i have to choose one, i'd prefer the competence over the personality. And Dr. Rumsey is the Cheif of Staff so I feel very confident in his capabilities.
Dr Rumsey seems to be a very quiet man. He did not seem to be in a rush. He explained the whole operation by drawing out the details. He discussed the risks of the surgery and the pre-op requirements. He did tell me that I would have to lose another 15 lbs before surgery. He also wants me to start 2 protein drinks a day, along with exercise. I figure he knows what he is doing so I will try my best. I just hope that I do not get turned away on surgery day if I only lose 10 lbs! Kaiser Southern California, Positive Choice, already made me lose 22.5 lbs in order to be approved for the operation. If I was good at losing weight and keeping it off I would not need the operation! Dr Rumsey's staff gave me a booklet with a ton of information from what to take to the hospital to the stages of food introduction post-op. I believe I will be very happy with Dr Rumsey.
Dr. Rumsey was OUTSTANDING. He took the time to explain the entire process to me and my family. On the day of the surgery he assured my mother, awho was nervous about the procedure tha everything would be fine. The Bariactric team in Scripps San Diego took great care of me. I particularly was impressed with the follow up. I was able to contact a skilled professional with any questions that I had, and on the times I needed to contact Dr. Rumsey, he was there to answer my questions.
My surgeon has been an absolute wonderful person and supporter of my walk to losing weight! He is always supportive, kind, understanding, and funny at time too! I really love this man. His reputation preceded my choosing him, and I was so happy inside to find that he is a human being that anyone can talk to about concerns they may have and not feel as if they are being just another patient cut out of the same mold. He listens!! And more importantly, Dr. Rumsey hears what you are saying. Thank God for men of his caliber, caring, and professionalism in this Bariatric field. We need more surgeons whose heads aren't in the clouds, and that CAN RELATE to patients like us. He even poses for pictures with me on visits as I lose weight, and gives me a great hug for my efforts! I love this man.
