I am going to use Dr. David Syn to do my revision surgery. I was very impressed with him at the seminar he gave and all of the great things I have read and asked about him. It is a shame I am having to have a revision BUT when the staples breakdown and disappear after only 1 1/2 years..............
I haven't met Dr. Hall yet but I have had alot of contact with the
ladies in his office and they have been wonderful and very helpful
while I made this life changing decision. I want to have the Open RNY
and I was approved by my insurance in one week. I have a date it is
April 3, 2001. I'll update later on to let you know my opinion of
him. If he is anything like his staff I'm sure he's great. Plus I
have had others tell me how wonderful he is.
Awsome surgeon. I honestly could not have combed the whole United States of America and found a better surgeon. He is a very warm compassionate surgeon -but not push over-. He wants you to call if at anytime you have problems and he and in himself will call you back, you don't have to translate everything through a nurse.
In the hospital he has a special floor that are trained to take care of us. We get a large 800 pound capacity wheel chair instead of a small one that you cannot fit it. You also get a special bed where the legs lower all the way to the floor and handles to help you in and out of bed.
He also performs what is called a minimal 4 inch incision. So you have very little pain. My pain was so minimal that I just used tylenol with codine, but he does give you a morphine drip right away. His after care is great. He has a support group that meets once a month and he is there through the whole meeting. He explains very well the risk associated with surgery and takes very good precautions during and after surgery. So far he has had no deaths and has done, as of my surgery 120 something of these surgerys. He puts a 100% into all areas of this procedure, from the consultation to the surgery, and all through the after care. Can't wait until the next meeting. All I have to say is, If you have any questions at all, don't be scared of your own shadow! Just ask him, he will answer you and just make sure you understand. If not, ask and ask and ask until you do understand. It is your decision and your body. If you find you don't like him, Don't use him. AS for me my experience was good.
Dr. Syn was sent from Heaven! He and his very efficient office staff made the whole process of insurance approval a breeze for me. I simply sent the information requested and Janet (office manager) took care of everything. Dr. Syn's bedside manner and professional courtesy was terrific. He spent a lot of time at the hospital making sure his patients were being treated "right." My scar looks super, just like a small scratch and I am only 3 weeks post op at this writing! I can't say enough about the excellent care I am recieving from Dr. Syn and his staff.
