Dr. Syn did my revision surgery. He seems to be a nice guy but I do feel his bed side manner was not a nice as it could have been. I did have a bad wound infection that I am still battling to this day 11/16/04. My revision surgery was not planned it was done on an emergency basis so I did not meet Dr Syn until I was having to have revision surgery. I have not had much contact with his office since the surgery and they have not even called to check how I was. I have had to go to another surgeon to get my wound infection cleared up. I think with a planned revision surgery things may have been different. I have seen a lot of people have nice things to say about Dr Syn.

Dr. Syn is a very professional no nonsense
person. He is committed and cares genuinely
for each of his patients. I have not changed my opinion of him. He has great office staff. Future patients should know
that he expects you to follow his instructions to the letter and this is for
your own success.Dr. Syn will be a constant
in your life after sugery. Dr. visits and
support group monthly. Of course he addressed the risks of sugery. I would rate
him as a 10 first as a person then as a
surgeon.

My first impression of Dr Syn was very good. He is very knowable in this field. Very straight forward and tells you exactly what he expects.
His officew staff is wonderful. They let me know all about him before I met him.
At this time there is nothing I don't like about Dr. Syn.
Be honest and tell him the truth on what you have or haven't done when he asks you questions ,he can tell if you aren't telling him the exact truth.
He emphasizes after care very much. He says that if you don't intend to do the after care don't come see him. He beives that is ine of the most important factors of the surgery.Dr Syn went over every story that could happen before ,during and after surgery.
to me both are great in a doctor.
I recommend dr Syn very highly to people. They will love him.
I haven't got anything to say bad about the doctor.

My first impression of Dr. Syn was that he is a very caring person. He gives you a alot of information. Dr. Syn is very concerned about aftercare. He tells you about aftercare before you have surgery. Dr. Syn is the only wls doctor that I want!

Dr. Syn is very soft spoken and honest. My mother approved of him, she's a nurse, she said if you are going to have the WLS, this is the doctor I want you to use. Dr. Syn's office staff was nice, courteous. I hope that this process is quick, so I can have the surgery done and over with and be on the other side!

Dr. Syn is a Godsend! His office staff is always polite and ready to help. Dr. Syn tells it like it is and doesn't hold anything back but he is always professional and courteous. He seems to be very dedicated to his patients including the aftercare that he provides. I would recommend him to anyone. My mom was very impressed with him as well and she was very nervous about me having the surgery. After meeting him and talking to him while I was in recovery she said, "You could comb the world over, and never find a better doctor." I think her comment says it all!

Wow. I was so blown away by Dr. Syn. His office staff has been nothing but courteous and helpful. Janet even rocked my baby and entertained my very precocious 5-year-old while I listened to Dr. Syn's seminar. I was very impressed with his credentials, his record and his upfront approach. I was given a ton of information, most of it I already knew, but hearing his practices step by step just made me more confident about the decision to have this surgery. The thing I liked most about Dr. Syn is that he and his nutritionist explain every little detail and then they ask if you have questions (which you don't because they are so thorough). I like that he does a minimal incision procedure and he is concientious about your care, but he encourages you getting up and about immediately. He goes over the risks and benefits of each procedure and why he prefers a particular procedure and it just all comes together and makes sense. I am confident in his surgical skill, I genuinely like the man (I feel like he is saving my life) and I look forward to being a patient of his. The aftercare program has high attendance--even patients from 6 hours away come. I think that if I have my surgery with this man, which I definetly intend to, it will be successful and I don't have any reservations about Dr. Syn. He is also young and I feel like I can really talk to him and I get positive and reassuring feedback. I know you are supposed to balance these reviews with pros and cons, but I really can't think of anything I didn't like or feel comfortable with in my first meeting with Dr. Syn. I have nothing to compare it to, because I never even got to meet the other surgeon I was considering, but now I am glad I didn't meet him.

Dr. Syn elected not to do my surgery and I have not had any further contact with his office except to request that records be returned to me.

Yesterday I had my consultation with Dr. David Syn in Lubbock. Prior to seeing him, I had been turned down by three doctors. I should have been nervous, but I was excited instead. When I met Dr. Syn at his seminar a few weeks ago, I immediately felt that we were on the same page. He is exceedingly compassionate, as well as eloquent and confident. Dr. Syn seems to empathize in some way with the pain that the obese go through and he is extremely comforting. I felt at ease and safe and I sense that he truly cares about his patients. Before entering my WLS journey I thought that was just a given – doctors care about the people who seek help from them. Sadly, I was incredibly naïve.

First, Dr. Syn let us meet as a group with his dietician, Chin Chi. She was great! Then Dr. Syn comes in, talks to us all as a group, and answers our questions. After that, he sees you privately. First you talk to him in his office and answer some medical questions. Then he takes you in a clinical room and checks your blood pressure, listens to your lungs and heart and looks at your stomach. He is so attentive to your needs and considerate too. He made a usually uncomfortable experience completely pleasant.

ALL of Dr. Syn’s office staff are exceptional. They take care of everything. I have been to lots of doctors, but this is by far, the friendliest and most efficient practice I have ever been in. I was so impressed! I will write more about Dr. Syn and staff after my surgery.
