I can honestly say that I had a wonderful experience. Dr. Rohrer was very thorough, and never rushed me. He made me feel like he had all the time in the world to answer my questions. He IS NOT fat phobic also. He never made me feel like I was a lost cause looking for an easy way out either. He was completly honest about all aspects of the surgery, and the post-op. I have had no surprises. His assistant Lisa has been great, and is very knowledgeable. She is incredibly busy, and doesn't have time to sit and chat. But, she will answer questions and help you out in every way possible. She is always smiling, and I never feel uncomfortable around her when I step on the scale, or call and ask embarrassing questions. I think that is impressive, given that she is just beautiful and obviously never needed a bypass! There is a full year of after care, and also support group meetings available. I would give Dr. Rorher and Lisa 5 out of 5 stars.
Dr Rohrer was wonderful he put me at ease right away and had read through my paperwork before he talked with me. He didn't try to sell me the surgery or make me feel bad for wanting it, he gave me the facts good and bad talked to me about insurance, after care, what to expect and took alot off my mind. office staff was very friendly at my first visit, however she seemed a little too busy to answer my questions when i called.
Dr. Rohrer is wonderful! He never, at any time, makes his patients feel "fat." He is kind, sensitive, and thoughtful in his responses to your progress. I believe he is highly competent and finds great pleasure in helping all of us to become "healed" from being overweight. My impression has continued to improve. His office staff (one person) is very pleasant and easygoing and efficient. No complaints there! Aftercare is extremely important to Dr. Rohrer. He listens to your circumstances and responds accordingly. He answers all questions, and is honest about any changes (like drinking enough water!) you need to make. Aftercare is based on patients' progress and is individualized. He explained the risks, but did not dwell on them. Very matter-of-fact; open to questions. I would rank him among the best physicians I have dealt with over time. His bedside manner was far better than that of my hospital roommate's doctor, who was inattentive and cold by comparison.
Just got a call today from my Primary Care Physician telling me that I have an initial appt. with Dr. Rohrer on May 15, 2002.
Initial appt. was rescheduled for May 22 due to Dr. Rohrer having to be in surgery on the 15th.
Met with Dr. Rohrer on May 15th. I was very impressed by him and his staff. They were very nice. Dr. Rohrer explained the whole procedure and all its aspects, even after I told him that I have been researching it for over a year (very thourough). He was not in a hurry, even though I was his last appt. of the day. He answered all my questions very well.
Dr. Rohrer answered every one of my questions. He drew
pictures and explained in detail what to expect from
the whole procedure to me in terms I understood.
Lisa was sooo helpful, kind and understanding of my
needs even when I would call at a bad time for her.
She calmed my nerves through the whole insurance ordeal.
There isnt anything that I dislike about Dr. Rohrer or Lisa
or how they handled my visits and phone calls.
Dr. Rohrer does address the risks of surgery and the aftercare
program. There are some questions I can not answer until after
my surgery procedure. I did talk with a couple of patients while I was
in the waiting room. One said that their surgery went very well.
The others were there for their first appt. and hadnt heard anything
negative about Dr. Rohrer.
I will be back to update this after surgery.

He was very professional, very confident and made me feel that he knew exactly what he was talking about. He did not rush me and did not try to persuade me. He just told me all the facts and let me make my own decision. His office staff is always available to answer questions. He has a great reputation in our area for his skill and his bedside manner. He does emphasize after care and following directions and that it is not a quick fix but that it is actually up to me to change my lifestyle and ALWAYS follow the guidelines he gives me. There wasn't anything up to this point that I didn't like about him. Future patients should definitely go with him. He went all over the risks of surgery. I would rate him as an A+ so far. The only thing that I might have liked would be to have had another appointment with him before surgery. But his staff does do a great job when called upon and he does have an e-mail address which I am going to use this weekend. He also has a support group that anyone pre-op, post-op or even just considering the surgery can attend monthly free-of-charge. (5/12/02)
