Dr. Vanguri was a rather quiet person; however after meeting and talking with him he truly seemed to care about his patients. His office staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Dr. Vanguri made it a point to answer any questions I had about the surgery. He firmly believes in attending support groups and totally stressed the importance of follow-up after surgery. I had my physical with him on 1/24/01 and hopefully will have a surgery date within a month. He is a very compassionate physician who truly seems to care and want to help the obese person. I have the utmost respect for him and his staff.
My first impression of Dr. Vanguri is he doesn't talk much. My impression of him changed when we got into more detail of the surgery...he made sure we knew what we were getting into. His staff is incredibly cordial. Five of us(patients) met with him individually and then all of us went to his office for an explanation of the surgery and a Q&A session. I liked this. It enabled me to listen to what others feel concerned about and it was things i haven't thought of. I opted to go the the next step and get the physical done....unfortunately...he is soooo busy....must mean he is sought after....which must mean he is great.....anyway...i can't get surgery until after the new year. Atleast my journey is started and with Dr. Vanguri, I'm pleased!
I would rate Bev at Dr. Vanguri's office A#1. She was very good. She got my approval...told me exactly what i needed to do to keep the same surgery date....it was great.
I have an appt with Bev, and Dr. Vanguri himself on Tuesday, January 16th....i'll update at that time.
Dr. Vanguri requires that you have a 2 week check up...then monthly after that for atleast a year. a very structured program....i will attend each and every appt and counseling meeting....3rd sunday each month...franklin square hospital...2pm....
Dr Vanguri's bedside manner was awesome. he is not outspoken....but surely is knowledgeable.....any questions i had...he knew the answer.....
I would recommend him to anyone!!!
I can't say enough about him. He's an extremely talented surgeon, but more than that, he is sensitive to the needs of his patients. I am 6 years post-op and have moved out of state, but would highly recommend him to anyone.
The office staff is top notch.
When I left, there was a support group available through the office that meets once a month. I found it quite helpful, especially in the time immediately after surgery.
He was quite forthcoming about the risks of surgery.
Overall, I would rate him as high as possible. I honestly have no negative comments about him.
Both.
I meet Dr. Vanguri for the first time on Dec. 6, 00. He was very clear on the procedure and made the group feel comfortable with his knowledge. The office staff was very nice, on both of my visits I had plesant conversations with the assistant. Everyone that comes into the office acts like one big happy family.
8/30/00 I met my choice for a surgeon for the first time today. This is my personal impression of the doctor. Other's may not have the same opinion as I do. I was very impressed by his honesty about the pro's and con's and his experience and caring nature. I very much liked the fact that the amount of weight a person loses is not his MAIN objective. Not everyone will be a beauty queen after this.
He just want everyone to lose the amount of weight that is needed for them to be healthy. He stressed the importance of taking this tool and using it wisely. Aftercare is important and you will need to heed his rules to feel good and lose weight properly and in a healthy manor.
I know I will never be teeny tiny. I just want to feel better and be able to enjoy life. The office staff was great. They were very friendly and helpful. I am looking forward to my physical in Oct so I can move on towards surgery.
11/13/00 As soon as his office got the approval nod from my insurance co they put the wheels in motion immediately. I got scheduled for pre-op testing on Dec 5th and surgery on Dec 11th the very day they got my approval. I am going to a workshop he is sponsoring too to get some ideas of what after surgery is like on Sunday Nov 19th.
They really care and stay in touch!!
11/19/00
Attended a support group Dr Vanguri set up for his patients. What a great office staff he has and meeting MANY of his patients did a world of good for me. It allowed me to ask questions to recent surgical patients as well as some to those who have lost alot of weight and have become an inspiration to me.
Dr. Vanguri is a man of few words , however he is very professional and thorough. He explains the procedure and aftercare in great detail. He's very patient and spends time answering your questions. His staff is very helpful and patient as well. I've only had two appt. but my surgery date is 7-6-00!So far I am pleased with the care I've received.
11/6/00 DR.VANGURI CONTINUES TO BE VERY SUPPORTIVE AND CARING AS DOES HIS STAFF.HE NOT ONLY NURTURES THE PHYSICAL BODY..HE IS CONCERNED WITH YOUR WELL BEING.I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE CONSIDERING THE SURGERY.
1st impression - extremely people oriented
Impression did not change over time
Office staff - very helpful & supportive
Liked least - NOTHING
Future patients should know that he is a rare jewel
Aftercare - strongly emphasized
Aftercare - very structured, great support group environment
Risks of surgery - addressed, willing to answer all questions
Overall rating on a scale of 1 to 10, he's a 20 (minimum)
Surgical competence, beside manner, he's very well-rounded
9/20/00 Today I met Dr. Vanguri for the first time. He seems very nice and he explained the surgical procedure to the group of 5 that were there and then allowed the group to ask questions. He was very patient and willing to answer all questions. One of the things I liked is that he did not rush. He took time to make sure that anyone who ask a question understood the answer that he gave.
Today I was hoping for more from the first visit. I have spent months doing research on this surgery and was hoping that today would be the start. I't was not I will need to rreturn for a physical, but could not go back till Oct 31,00. To all who read this wish me luck.
