Upon meeting Dr. Abkin for the first time, I was immediately impressed with his friendly approach, eagerness to answer any and all questions, and willingness to take the time to explain everything. HE wasn't rushed, like some doctors can be. Not to mention, that he's just a really nice guy.
Dr. Abkin, and his office staff, make the entire journey as simple as possible. The office staff is always ready to answer your questions or help you over any of the hurdles that may come up along your journey. I was so well informed, pre-op, that I had little to no reservations about going through with the procedure. After my brief hospital stay, I had no worries about going home, because I knew, that Dr. Abkin and his staff would be there for me when I needed them. I am SO pleased with the entire process, that I've made an appointment for my Father, with Dr. Abkin, and my wife will be soon to follow. THANK YOU DR. Abkin, for saving my life.

LapBand Surgery was the best thing I have ever done....very happy and satisfied. I am 6'2 and I weighed 316 lbs on November 23rd. As of February 18th, I am at 263 lbs (lost 53 lbs!! and I just got back from a ten day vacation!!. I feel great. I am happy and satisfied.

My wife gained weight as well. We have two beautiful children that I thank g-d everyday. My wife got the lapband in August and has lost 80lbs. Our relationship is so much better....we are happier, more active and we want to be here for a long time for our children and one day, grandchildren. Dr. Abkin and the LapBand surgery has changed our lives for the better.

I recently met Dr. Abkin at a Seminar in his office. I was very impressed with his presentation and the whole program that his office offers to patients who are having weight loss surgery. I was able to make my appointments for my Evaluations and a consult with him the same day. After those meetings i sat with an insurance specialist in his office who found out exactly what I need to do to get this surgery approved.

Dr. Abkin is one of the top surgeons in NJ. He is very down to earth and approachable with any questions you have. He wants to make sure you are fully prepared for what lies ahead as it is not an easy road. The entire program at his office is first rate. I'm sorry this note took so long for me to write to you. I am grateful to you for being my doctor and coming to the rescue for me when I needed you so much. I am well aware of the unusual set of circumstances you encountered when you did my surgery in August. I know you wanted to close me up right away and not do the banding, but you went ahead knowing how important it was to me and you did a fantastic job. I can't thank you enough. You have given me so much hope for the future.

It is also a pleasure to deal with your competent and helpful staff for all the many questions I had regarding appointments, insurance and support groups.

Wow... Thank You Dr. Abkin... I had my surgery 3 years ago and did great... but then I got "Comfortable" and wasn't watching what I was eating. A friend had just had the surgery and asked me to come to Support Group with her.

I was surprised to see Dr. Abkin at the Support Group and it was great. He is so patient, is a good listener and knows what to say to get patients motivated. I was so happy to get that fire re-lit. I had not done my bloodwork and was reminded by him that they need to check on it yearly to make sure my vitamin levels are all in order. That spark and the help of his support groups has got me refocused... I've dropped another 10 pounds. THANK YOU Dr Abkin and ALSOM SUPPORT GROUP!

Thank You Dr. Abkin! Had my surgery a year ago I've lost over 150 pounds with my Gastric Band! I've had no problems but went in to see him recently for my yearly visit. I like that this practice still wants to stay involved with how I'm doing. I started coming to the office monthly now for support group since I don't want to blow it. I'm so happy that his office stays involved and is there to help with every stage of this process! I was surprised that I can even go across the hall now for Band Adjustments. Talk about ONE STOP SHOPPING! They are Great!

Thank You Dr. Abkin! I had my Bypass Surgery with him on November 29th 2010... I decided to choose Dr. Abkin as my surgeon because I knew 3 people he performed the Bypass surgery on. They were all successful and after my husband & I met with him & he discussed all options & what he felt was best, we knew he was the one. Dr. Abkin is an excellent Doctor, he doesn't rush you out of his office and takes the time to listen and answer all your question. I was scared and nervous through the whole process from the consultation, Insurance approval and the seminar's. Dr. Abkin & his staff are very knowledgeable, supportive & understanding, they made sure I was prepared and educated on WLS. Even the morning of surgery when I was nervous Dr. Abkin made me feel at ease reassuring me all will be ok. I am looking forward to a New Year in 2011 and the journey to a new me, holding my head up, smiling, loving myself and enjoying life again.

He is an excellent doctor and a really great person. He takes the time to listen to what we have to say. His office does encourage the patients to get active in support groups so I have done that at his office and it's been a true help.
