The moment I met Dr.Alexander Abkin, I knew I would be in the best of hands. Dr. Abkins honesty & enthusiasm in understanding me, gave me complete faith in going forth with the surgery. Having my Realize Band surgery on November 30th, I have lost 20 pounds & today's date is 12/19/2010.
In preparation for the surgery,I had lost 10 pounds before the Realize Band was put in, getting my head ready for the life style change, which I so recommend. From beginning to end, the whole experience was delightful, and so well planned, by the entire staff. Dr. Abkins patience, to answer all my question, gave me the trust in him. This very important decision has made me so happy & relaxed about the whole dieting/eating thing. Taking the stress off food & being around it & having this tool has given me such willpower. So now at the age of 58 years old I'm, 30 pounds lighter, 2 sizes smaller & so much healthier, & in such a short time has shown how well it all can work, when following all directions. A little over two weeks out from my Realize Band (single site incision) surgery and everything is going great!! I'm 22 pounds lighter and my scars are already lessening. Dr. Abkin has been kind, supportive and informative every step of the way. He is truly gifted and I am certain I couldn't have chosen a better surgeon. I would never have imangined things could go so smooth... considering how sick I was a year ago. Dr. Abkin and his staff helped me through each step and got my insurance approval for the gastric bypass. I'm about a month post op now and already out hiking with my husband. Its amazing what we can accomplish when we put our minds to something. and having a great doctor and his staff along for the ride was the icing on the cake. Thank You Doctor Abkin!

My surgeon, Dr. Abkin, did a fantastic job of preparing me for surgery, performing the procedure and in follow up care. The practice makes sure that you understand each step of the process and has someone there to help you meet every goal. The practice offers its own suite for doing adjustments, so you don't have to go to the hospital for fills. They have responded quickly and positively to any question or concern that I have and have been patient. They offer online and in-person support groups, which is great for a working mother. I have recommended this group and Dr. Abkin to family members and friends, and recommend them to you as well!

My first impression of Dr Abkin was a great one and got better and better the more I got to know him. He went over options with me and gave me 100% input on everything. If I didn't understand something, he made sure that by the end of my visit that I did. He has a gorgeous office in Florham Park, very close to Route 10. His entire office staff from front desk to billing, to the nurses are all very professional and very caring. The pre op treatment was fantastic; everything from the office visits to the classes and testing. There was no stone left unturned from the risks and benefits of the surgery. I had a wonderful expreience. I was very nervous the day of surgery and Dr Abkin came in, talked to me and made me feel very confident and comfortable with the physical and mental feelings that I was going through. After surgery, he went and spoke to my husband and calmed his nerves as well. He has offered support groups and he is not one to forget his patients after surgery. I just had my post op follow up visit today and am going to see him in a month as well. He talked me through the next 4 weeks and made sure I fully understood the steps I needed to take. I wish all of my experiences with Dr's were as positive as this one. I would highly recommend Dr Abkin to anybody thinking about having bariatric surgery! He has already changed my life for the better in so many ways!! Thank you Dr Abkin!!

Dr Abkin and his office was friendly and made the whole process easy . The staff was reliable and had alot of experience with insurance. I had my surgery at the Florham Park facility and was treated very well. I would reccomend this over any hospital.The attention that was given was wonderful and they made it all so easy. I contiue to be followed by Dr Abkins and his team and am happy they are there. I reccomend them for all yolur surgery needs.

My first impression Dr. Abkin was that he was vey experienced and knowledgable. He was easy to talk to and listened to my needs. He answered all of my questions and took time to listen to my concerns. He prepares his patients and addresses surgery risks and expectaions from the start. On the day of my surgery he was very comforting and his confidence made me feel secure. During my recovery, I was impressed to see him take the time to dial the phone and contact my husband directly to report that I was doing well. His office staff is amazing too! They are available and very helpful. His office is equipped with everything you need as far as pre and post-op visits. This makes everything very convenient. Dr. Abkin is very experienced and has a wonderful bedside manner. He provides a true, genuine concern for his patients and his aftercare support is wonderful. Dr. Abkin is sensitive, supportive, helpful and kind. I rate Dr. Abkin to be a more than excellent surgeon and reccommend him whole-heartedly. I took my husband to the seminar just to hear what the doctors had to say about weight loss surgery. Dr. Abkin did such a nice job of explaining the surgery and what could be expected that I was shocked whne my husband signed up for a consult. He must have just clicked with Dr. abkin, but with that smile and personality how could you NOT?
