I have to say I was very impressed with Dr. Abkin's Staff. I am also very pleased with Dr. Abkin's professionalism and his ability as a doctor. My daughter has been looking into this surgery for years and she is finally on her way to having it next month and Dr. Abkin was our choice. When you see your daughter struggle with weight I understand why she wants this but I had to make sure she was in "GOOD HANDS!" And with Dr. Abkin i have total confidence that everything will be done that needs to be and she will be fine.

I must admit now that the time is almost here, I myself am also considering some type of weight loss surgery and of course will be with Dr Abkin as well. I did have some questions as to which procedure would best suit me and was very impressed that people in his office would take time out of their busy days to talk to me, answer questions and even have me speak to another patient that had similar issues.

Thank You Dr. Abkin. This surgery has made such a difference in my Life. Things which should be "normal" for most people... require planning when you are morbidly obese. Now that I've lost over 60 pounds I'm already finding it easier to walk the stairs and I recently got on a plane and was not embarrassed by having to have the seat belt extension. I know I still have a ways to go to reach my goal... but I'm so motivated that i don't think it will be a problem.

I would highly recommend Dr. Abkin's group to anyone who is thinking about having weight loss surgery. His office staff is great at making sure the patients get things they need to get so they can proceed. And although it is a busy office, it's fun to talk to the other patients as you wait for the docs. It's like a mini support group. They also offer in office support groups monthly and an online support group once a month. In addition, the other facilities they operate at also have support groups. I have found attending those to be a great way to stay focused.

I am So ready for my transformation that I am Sure I will be Shrinking by end of this year. I just want to thank Dr Abkin and his staff for standing by me, working with me to get my insurance approvals. I just want to THANK DR ABKIN for making this 4th of July one that I can actually ENJOY and feel comfortable celebrating with my friends and family. This past winter I started on my weight loss journey with him. Now here it is 4th of July weekend and I actually feel comfortable wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt and sitting outside with friends and family. These last few years my weight stopped me from socializing as I was ashamed of what I had become... a Fat person...or MORBIDLY OBESE.

I attended a seminar with Dr Abkin and found him to be very caring and took the time to answer any questions or concerns i had about going through this type of surgery. His office really stresses the WHOLE Program and I have jumped in with both feet and it has been an awesome journey. I had the gastric bypass in January and I'm now 6 months and 90 pounds lighter. I'm not done but I sure am on my way and I am so much healthier and able to get out and enjoy myself,. Thank You Dr. Abkin and your entire staff who helped to make my process such a breeze!

The weight loss journey is never easy. However, I continue to be amazed and lucky to be assisted by Dr. Abkin and the members of his group. Every question is answered with time and thoroughness and sincere attention and concern. I recently had a Band adjustment, my first adjustment. not only was it a smooth, almost simple process, but again, my time with the Doctor was pleasant and even more importantly, it was encouraging. I continue to feel better than I have felt in years. My medical issues, including diabetes and sleep apnea, are light years better than before my surgery, and I continue to receive wonderful reports as to my blood sugar and other vital statistics. I am now bicycle riding with my family and enjoying my lifestyle.

Dr. Abkin, even 1 year after my surgery, treats me with care and concern and attention, not simply as a patient in for a follow up. I am convinced that my success and what I nkow will be my continued progress are a direct result of the level of medical care, treatment and attention given by Dr. Abkin.

Dr. Abkin is the epitome of what it means to be a great surgeon and great doctor.

Before I met him, I had researched him carefully (I am an MD myself) and was struck by the adjectives I kept hearing: concerned, patient, dedicated, knowledgeable, and a sensational surgeon with stellar results. At our first meeting I found that every single word was true. My wife and I spent over one and a half hours with him (I didn't tell him I was a doctor until the end of the appointment) and he explained the surgery choices, the pre-op protocol and the follow up care. He made certain that every one of our many issues was covered and that we completely understood the risks of what the surgery entailed before he turned us over to his remarkably efficient scheduling staff.

They went over point by point what tests had to be done, what procedures needed to be performed and they told us they would be cutting through the health insurance red tape for me to be certain I was approved. Several tasks of the pre-op protocol were outsourced right there in their office which made it convenient and simple.

Every person I dealt with was courteous, well-informed and friendly. They even scheduled my first post-op visit right then so I would not have to remember to do that later. Over the intervening time prior to the surgery, I was contacted several times letting me know the progress of my insurance review, to make sure I had my necessary tests scheduled and so on.

One week before surgery I attended a 3 hour seminar to discuss in great detail what to expect starting the day before to a month afterwards. The handouts were self-explanatory and seemed to cover every contingency. After that I felt totally prepared for the major journey I was about to take.

On the surgery day, I went to a facility in the same building as Dr. Abkin's office. Though I was nervous, the staff was so professional and engaged in my well-being it was easy to feel well taken care of. Dr. Abkin stopped by and offered encouragement.

My first post-op appointment was yesterday and again Dr. Abkin was thorough and unhurried. I know I have mentioned that a few times but so many physicians rush through their appointments that invariably you forget an important thing you wanted to discuss. Not so with this man!

One last point: from my reading I observed that many bariatric surgeons rush to do band adjustments even beginning as early as two weeks post-op. Dr. Abkin tailors band adjustments not to a fixed schedule but solely predicated to the patient's needs. That was one of the biggest reasons I went to him.

This is one of the best doctors I have ever been to and I can say that with a lifetime of experience in medicine.

I had my surgery on May 3, 2011. The staff of the Florham Park Surgery Center were very Professional and very energetic as to the needs of their patients. Dr. Abkin is a first class surgeon. Can't say enough good things about Dr. Abkin. He was my surgeon in 2003 when I had RNY and I chose him again for Lap-Band Surgery in 2011. His program and office have changed a lot for the better, he is still a professional on top of his work and treatment program.
