My first impression of Dr. Agguire may have been influenced by the fact that my twin sister had already had surgery by him and so I felt like I already knew him when I met him.
Dr. Aguirre was very welcoming, and friendly. I met his daughter first who seems to do most of the coordinating between Dr. and Patient. She too is very friendly. They are both reassuring and will do everything to make you feel safe, well taken care of and comfortable.
After your first initial days in the hospital following surgery you are then released to either an apartment you rented thru them or the luxury hotel; both of which are very nearby the hospital and tourist locations. I stayed at the apartment and was very comfortable there.
My recovery was not as quick as most patients and Dr. Aguirre and his companion Dr. Estrella both visited me often. I did not feel neglected or that once I was out of the hosiptal I was now a faceless part of their career history. They were truely attentive to me and my condition. I felt that I was actually in the perfect place because they came to me...to take care of me...not me having to call a doctor and say not so well and schedule some appointment and leave the comfort of my home. They came to me several times a day.
Overall, I am very very pleased with Dr. Aguirre and his team. I do not regret having gone to MX for my surgery. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner were great. And the staff who cared for me at the hospital and later at the apartment were wonderful too.
Dr.Eguirre is very Professional, casual enough to make you feel comfortable and not afraid, and good looking. My impression never changed, and his bed side manner is impecable. His office staff were helpfill eventhough they didn't speak english. Dr.Eguerra's immediate assistant Rosella is most helpfill, reasurring, comforting, willing to do all that she can to make one feel comfortable to make your trip, your stay, and your surgery a pleasent sucess. Rosella has such a bubbly personality that you love her from the start.I can't say enough nice things about the dr.,his immediate assistant, and the staff. Dr Eguerra is very emphatic about ones aftercare, stressing the importance of your need to follow the program like he says. Before the interview and the discussion on the surgery he ask many questions about your reasons for wanting the surgery and what is the extent of all your health problems. As for rating the Dr. and his immediate assistant they are both great and I would not change anything about them. On a scale of 1 to 10 they yould be a 10 .The hospital staff should speak more english or at least have a nurse assigned to the anglo patients who do not speak spanish. This was the only disturbing thing about my entire surgery.
Dr. Aguirre really knows how to make a patient feel at ease with such a major surgery and change of life. He answered all of our questions and even came to see how I was doing the two days following surgery. He explains all the different proceedures and why he does the one he does, which really helped me confirm that I made the right choice. His Daughter Rosella is full of information and took good care of us. After care instructions were a bit general but any questions we had were answered right away. The bedside mannor was outstanding and if I had to do it again he would be my first choice!
I must really say that I knew as soon as I met Dr. Aguirre that I was in terrific care. I had the best care ever. Everyone was so nice and each of my 3 doctors visted me everyday. They treated me and my sister both with so much care. They allowed us to ask all the questions we had and answered them with confidence and reassurance. I would recommend Dr. Aguirre to anyone. We had a terrific experience and he has truely saved my life!
My first impression - was great - not to mention he is a very handsome man... I felt very comfortable and confident in him... His staff is great - esspecially his daughter Rosella.. He tells you like it is - He didnt hide anything from me - he told me it wasnt a magical surgery - that it would be work...he did tell me all the risks - I give him an A+ in every area...His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great... I am very greatful for that man...
Dr. Aguirre, Rosella, Bamby was everything and more that everyone else has commented about. Hubby and I felt very at ease being in Mexico being the little "country hicks" that we are. The hospital from the outside didn't look like much but then don't judge a book by it's cover. Up stairs my room was VERY clean and everything new looking. I felt comfortable and was very well taken care of during my stay. Dr. Aguirre is very thorough and always opened to questions and never in a hurry to rush off. He explained everything before, during and after. Rosella was very accomadating and always bubbly and smiling. Bamby was a wonderful "tour" driver and chauffer. Well worth the money if you are not fimilar with the area or how to get to Ensenada. He made the trip to and from Mexico very enjoyable. The last couple days we were even 'sad' to have to leave such a comfortable relaxing enviroment. I would do it again in a heartbeat and have NO regrets! This surgery has given me a new lease on life and a new journey to a healthier ME!
Our first impression of Dr. Aguirre was positive and has stayed so even though we are mostly dealing with Rosella and Dr. Estrella at this time. It is somewhat difficult to communicate with the personnel unless you speak Spanish though all are very friendly and a few do speak English. Rosella is the "point person" for communication. All the physicians and Rosella and Bambi speak fluent English and help with whatever needs we have. At this point there is nothing negative to say about Dr. A or Greg's experience. They don't seem to emphsize aftercare as much as in the US, they do have some info on after care. If your family PCP won,t do after care you can fax lab tests down here and Doc A. would make any recommendations he felt appropriate. The risks of surgery were probably a little less defined than in the states but anyone who has ever had any surgery with general anesthesia will not have any surprises. Overall, we are happy and Greg is doing well after that first evening when he just wasn't a very happy camper and couldn't get comfortable; but all three docs came in and ordered meds to help and he did feel so much better the next day. Going to the pharmacies is very different here to get the pain meds Supradol or Alidol which must be sub-lingual. Greg says the Supradol which I bought tastes sort of like peppermint as it is dissolving and does help though he has not needed it nearly as much as I might have thought for major surgery. Tomorrow he gets the g-tube out for good and half the staples. He's looking for to that. Just weaning off the bag itself has helped him rest better as you have to watch when you turn over. The binder is a help too he says for moving. However, that first big sneeze he had-he has a few allergies- he said was a doozie and caused some pain for a while. But it's all good so far and we are looking forward to getting back home to Wisconsin, our own bed, and our dogs too. Thanks for caring everyone!
