Dr. Aguirre is the most helpful, talented and kind surgeon I have ever met, and that is from a nurse of over 20 years! My insurance would not cover weight loss surgery and I needed a revision of a vertical banded gastroplasty. Dr. Aguirre explained everything to me in detail. He accompanied me while I got my preop tests and was there for every question I asked. As a retired nurse I knew what I was getting into, but I learned things from him about what he was going to do. The hospital (CardioMed) was small but excellent. The staff was plentiful and knowledgable. They knew what to do and did it. I stayed in the hospital 2 nights and then went to a provided condo for 5 nights. Dr. Aguirre actually made a HOUSE CALL! He gave me specific post op instructions and talked about eating habits. I left with his phone and email so I could keep in touch. It was a great experience and exceeded my expectations. I am now 4 months out and I have gone from size 24 (tight) to a size 16! Life is good. I would recommend Dr. Aguirre to anyone. His experience and compassion are exceptional. I do wish I spoke Spanish so I could have found out more about the nurses. The Drs. all speak English and my lack did not get in the way of good care.

I can not say enough wonderful things about Dr. Aguirre. It is sad Annie died. She died 7 days after surgery. If that is the case she left Dr. Aguirre's care before she was instructed to do so. As far as not being given any pain meds, you are instructed to go to the pharmacy and pick them up. Did they not do that? I actually am still here in Ensenada and am 6 days post-op and am doing wonderfully. I have had wonderful care. When going into this surgery or any surgery, we must all realize death is something that may occur. You must be at peace with yourself, your life and your creator before you do this. This surgery or any surgery is not one to be taken lightly. I am truely sorry for Annie's passing but I hate to see someone blame her death on Dr. Aguirre and his staff. It is sad to ruin someone's carreer and reputation they have worked so hard at. I am very glad I did this surgery. I am extremely pleased with my care. It couldn't have been a better experience. Again I feel for Annie and her family but please do not go into this surgery lightly. Do your research. In doing your research you will see that Dr. Aguirre is a wonderful and competent surgeon. — Neisha rnrn
My first impression of Dr. Aguirre was that he seemed very calm and kind. He wanted to make sure that I felt comfortable with the upcoming surgery and explained everything that would happen. I definately gained confidence in Dr. Aguirre throughout my stay in Ensenada. The staff was wonderful. Everyone involved took really good care of me. There was not any aspect that I did not like about Dr. Aguirre. He was and continues to be wonderful and attentive. Because of the distance involved there is no ongoing aftercare although he did give me extensive instructions on how to eat and advised me on how to deal with food long term. Dr. Aguirre was very frank about the risks and possible complications involved with the surgery. He also was very frank concerning his complications and mortality rate. I appreciated his honesty and felt like he was the best surgeon for me. I would rate him as an excellent surgeon with an excellent bedside manner,(exceptionally better than an rnAmerican Dr.) he has taken wonderful care of me.
My name is Tijana, and I had my surgery with Dr. Aguirre on May 8th. While still in Ensenada, I had an obstruction, and had to stay longer for further intervention. I am doing OK now, and Dr. Aguirre did eveything possible to make sure I am OK. Complications happen, and I am not blaming him for the way my body reacted to the surgery. That is why I think it is very cruel to say about someone that they took your daugther, your child, away from you. I don't think such heavy words should fly so easily, even given the difficulty of the situation; it ends up doing more harm than good. Especially if you are not certain yet as to the cause of her death. Imagine how you will feel if you find out cause of death had nothing to do with Dr. Aguirre? We are all disturbed and saddened by the news, and we all send you our consolances, that kind of a loss is immesurable. But please do not prematurely damage somebody's life's work and reputation!
