I really liked Dr. Dan from the start. He is soft-spoken and yes he looks young but to me that was a plus. I figured he would be up-to-date with the surgery and the aftercare and how young can someone be after years of medical training? rnrnAll the office staff are very nice and very helpful. Most things are very organized and easy to follow, as far as appts and what the patient should be doing as far as tests and labwork, etc. Of course, as with any busy office I had to make a couple reminder calls. But with all the appts I had just a couple calls was not a big deal at all. rnrnAftercare program is structured and you are expected to follow it. They expect to treat you for life. It's a good feeling that I'm not going to just be dumped now that surgery is over. rnrnSometimes I do feel a little rushed when I meet with Dr. Dan. It is my only negative and honestly I feel like its because I can't get out what I want to ask. He always asks if I have questions and I can never seem to think fast enough. When I have had my questions ready in advance, I have been able to ask them and felt reassured with the answers.rnrnI highly recommend Dr. Dan as a surgeon. I felt completely confident with his surgical abilities. I was calm before surgery already but seeing him beforehand made me feel even better.

Bariatric Surgery rnrnI would like to take this opportunity to attest to my sincere appreciation and pleasure with Dr Adrian Dan and his staff at Akron City Hospital’s Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery.rnrnI elected to have Gastric By-pass Surgery about 9 months ago because have I tried for years to loose weight but when I got to 352 lbs I felt it was time to do something about it. I’m a diabetic and was up to very heavy doses of insulin (100 units of Lantus at bedtime and 60 units of Humalog at every meal) which ended up being approximately 400 units per day. It seemed like the more insulin I took the heavier I got and the heavier I got the more insulin I needed. Along with the diabetes I have Sleep Apnea, water retention, high cholesterol, restrictive lung disease. When I found out that Gastric bypass surgery would help all these medical problems I felt it was necessary to pursue this operation. rnrnIn searching for a facility to have this done I selected Akron City Hospital’s Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery and Dr Adrian Dan as the physician. This decision was the best I could have made. Dr. Dan and his staff was the most competent, professional, and caring group that I have had the pleasure of dealing with. I have three doctors and a councilor in the family and all were duly impressed with the service and the results.rnrnI am 1 week out of surgery and I am down to 10 units of Lantus per day and I am able to walk up to three miles day. I am very excited to have this opportunity to see my nine grandchildren grow up and if I would not have had this operation I do not believe I would have.rnrnHarold E. Cossrn

I was really impressed with Dr. Dan. He went over all the different options until I found the one best for me. His office staff kept me on schedule for all the testing required (there was alot) this isn't for the people unable to make a lifetime choice. His staff also helped me through the insurance approval & financing. I had classes on what to expect before & after surgery. Nutrition support was always available, they are still keeping up on all my blood work. I am now trying out a gym. They encouage exercise!! Now I feel that I can move well enough to workout. I have lost 60 pounds from my heaviest, I am now just three months out of surgery. Thumbs up for Dr. Dan. He is a ten in my book. He was very caring, but didn't sugar coat the facts. If I needed other surgery I would go back to Dr. Dan. He also removed my gallbadder back in December before my gastric bypass surgery on April 30, 2009.

My experience with the Summa Bariatric Center and Dr. Dan was wonderful. Dr. Dan took his time with me and answered all my questions. The surgery went without a hitch. The only problem I had was I almost got dehydrated. That was my fault for not drinking enough. I did call the answering service with issues and both Dr. Dan and Dr. Z were very caring and made sure that I was comfortable with the information they gave me. I am so glad that I had the surgery.

rnrn Dr. Dan and his staff are very professional, friendly and helpful. I feel the program at Summa in Akron is one that covers all the basis...including weight loss, nutrition and follow up. The risks of surgery were addressed as well as the importance of diet and exercise. Since having the Lap Band procedure in March I have lost 40 pounds so far.

Saw Dr. Dan again today. 3rd time. He spent a TON of time with me discussing issues that were important to me. This was a really good appointment. Seems the doctors READ these reviews and putting what your experience really was down on here CAN make a difference! It did for me! Dr. Dan was very open to my reservations regarding by-pass surgery and agreed to do the Lap Band on me instead. He explained that I am able to go either way so it was up to me. I feel extremely comfortable putting my emotional and physical needs 100% in his hands now. Anyone that has problems with the people up front should INSIST that they be allowed to see Dr. Dan to discuss any concerns REGARDLESS of whatever road blocks they may put in front of you. It is YOUR body and YOUR health.

Dr. Dan and the Akron Baratic Center are wonderful folks and I would recommend anyone that is thinking of having weight lose surgery see them. Dr. Dan is very knowledgeable and makes sure you have no questions and if you think of something after you leave, just call...rnThey made sure I was prepared for everything that was going to happen or could happen with and after surgery. I always felt like I was more than just another patient but that they truly have my best interest in mind.rnrn

I met Dr Dan at the summa open forum on Weight Loss / Gastric bypass surgery. Dr. Dan was very good and presented the facts, and opened the meeting for questions. I studied the options at Summa and at Akron General. i concluded the Summa program had much more tooffer. I met with my primary care dr and followed the required steps to have my medical coverage cover the cost of the by pass surgery. Dr Dan's office staff were very helpful and helped with all the details. Dr Dan met with me several times and handled the surgery very well. during teh preparation meetings, it uncovered that my gall bladder had a large gallstone. Dr Dan removed it, and then also rescheduled my bypass surgery after I was recovered. during my by pass surgery, Dr Dan also discovered a tumor behind my esoghagus and removed that also.rnI have been veryp;ease with the personal care and attention to details from the entire staff. rnIt has been 2 months since my by pass surgery. I elected to have the surgery due to my diabetes more so than my weight. However, i am daily receivng compliments on my appearance. It has been twomonths since my surgery and i have lost 44 pounds.
