I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Martin and for that matter, everyone at the Weight Management Center (WMC). I had done a lot of research and knew I wanted him to be my surgeon. He was very personable and kind when I met him. I had a list of questions I had prepared and he graciously answered all of them and even drew me a diagram to help explain something.

At first I wasn't too sure about Dr. Klainer. The next time I saw her I knew I had made the right choice. Is was very patient and understanding when I bombarded her with questions. She even encouraged me to ask more. The office staff is great!. If you ever run into any problems just call FAYE. She is awesome, and she runs the joint wether thats her postion or not. LoL Everyone made me feel so at ease. One of the nurtritionist was not very practical in her request at times but they are still very helpful. The program at the weight management center is very structured to make sure you get great care before and after surgery.

I am now a week post op. I stayed in the hospital for a week due to minor (gas) problems. Dr. Klainer is the QUEEN! Everyday I thanked God that I chose her as my surgeon, She is so knowledgeable but is also able to seek advise from her collegues. She also has a very caring attitude.

Thank you for being a great surgeron DR.Klainer

I FOUND HIM TO BE KNOWLEDGEABLE, PRFESSIONAL, HE MADE ME FILL LIKE I WOULD HAVE THE BEST CARE HE COULD PROVIDE. AND I DID. THE STAFF IS GREAT, NEVER RUDE, ALWAYS KNOWS YOUR NAME AND IS READY TO HELP AND ANSWER QUESTIONS AND LISTEN. I FEEL THAT IF I WAS STARTING OUT AGAIN AND PICKING WAT HOSP AND STAFF, I WOULD AGAIN GO WITH ST CHARLES GENERAL IN NEW ORLEANS. I STARTED MY JOURNEY IN OCT 03, AND HAD SURGERY ON 4-26. YOU MAY SAY THAT THAT IS A LONG TINE, BUT THEY ARE THROUGH AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE READY FROM ALL ASPECTS, NOT JUST PHYSCIAL, BUT MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, ETC. THIS IS A BIG CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE AND DOING SURGERY IS JUST ONE STEP. I FIND THAT EACH TIME I CALL THEY ARE JUST AS NICE AND HELPFUL AS THE FIRST TIME I CALLED. DR. PAIGE IS WONDERFUL AND EXPLAINED THE SURGERY IN GREST DETAIL EVEN THOUGH I'M A NURSE AND UNDERSTOOD MOST OF IT HE EXPLAINED IT JUST LIKE I HAD NEVER HEARD IT BEFORE AND MADE SURE I UNDERSTOOD AND ANSWERED ANY QUESTIONS I HAD. HE LISTENED WHEN I DID ASK QUESTIONS AND ALWAYS SEEM TO HAVE MORE QUESTIONS WHICH I BELIVE MAKES HIM MORE OF AN EXCELLENT DOCTOR BECAUSE HE'S VERY THROUGH.AND I FEEL THAT'S IMPRTANT IN A SURGEON. IF YOU PICK DR. PAIGE AND HIS STAFF YOU WON'T GO WRONG, THER'RE THE BEST IN THE STAT OF LA. THAT'S JUST MY OPINION

Dr. Scalia came highly recommended by other medical professionals; my first impression of Dr. Scalia was very good. Over time I found him to be not only highly professional and competent but a caring and interested physician. It is my opinion that he understands the need for his patients to feel comfortable with him and the surgical procedure; he does his best and takes the time required to foster that comfort. My decision to have the procedure was reinforced by Dr. Scalia's presentation of my medical options and the associated risks as well as his thorough answers to my questions.

The Weight Management Center is a busy clinic. Due to the administration volume, I would recommend following up your own case regularly to ensure that the "next step" is occurring as you expected. That said, I found the individual attention from the staff to be fine.

The care I received from Dr. Scalia, the Weight Management Center, and St. Charles General Hospital was nothing short of excellent. Dr. Scalia is an outstanding surgeon and physician; I would highly recommend him. My surgery has resulted in far less pain and discomfort that I was prepared to accept.

I can now officially say I've had EVERY surgeon in the WMC do surgery on me! I had my tummy tuck on Dec. 18th and since I had Martin and Klainer for my bypass I made sure Scalia and Paige were there for me for my tummy tuck. I'm THRILLED with the results!! I went from a 14-16 to a 10-12 and I still have some swelling in my belly which will probably last another month or so to go away completely. I've never had a flat tummy before!! It is a completely new experience!! I can't wait for the scars to fade (I'm using Mederma) so I can go get my belly button pierced!!

The WMC program is one of the best in the country and I feel very fortunate to have had my surgery there. They can run EXTREMELY late but that is only because they spend so much time with each patient. In the end, I'd rather wait and get taken care of the right way.

The WMC is so well equiped to handle bariatric patients. They have four surgeons, and endocrinologist and a staff of professionals (in-house dieticians, exercise physiologist, social worker, psychologist, 3 RNs and a nurse practitioner). It is an extremely intense program with a lot of emphasis on the post op follow up, which to me was the most important part.

I have also been blessed with the chance to now help other people through the journey of WLS. I am the Marketing Liaison at WMC and do all new patient education and get them booked to come in for assessments. I LOVE MY JOB!!!!

I was first skeptical and scarred, even more so on the morning of the surgery. I had heard a lot of great things about St Charles General but this was my life we were dealing with and at this point the only thing left to do was to leave it in God's hands. Dr. Klainer was very thorough with me. She explained the risk and complications going in. She stayed there with me right before surgery the first time. I had a bowel obstruction the first week and had to go through another surgery a week after and once again she stayed with me. I thought Dr. Klainer was a five star surgeon. I love you for giving me my life back

I BELIEVE HIM TO BE A FINE SURGEON. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE HOSPITAL BOOKS TOO MANY PATIENTS AT ONE TIME AND HE DOESN'T SEE US IN A TIMELY MANNER AT ALL.THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION, BUT , BECAUSE OF THIS, I HAVE NOT SEEN HIM IN 6 MONTHS.

He seemed to be a nice guy.

No, it did not. It only got better as I got to know him!

Post-Op, they are very caring. Pr-Op, a little slow, but takes care of the post-op pt's first!

Nothing that I can think of.

He is a very good surgeon.

Aftercare is a very big part of the program.

Yes.

Very strieght forword.

Very Good! Good scence of humor.

Both or great.

My first impression of Dr. Martin was fantastic. He's got a great personality and talks on our level. My impression of him only got better the more times I met with him. He's a very nice guy as well as a terific surgeon. His office staff are caring, skillful, and friendly. There's nothing I do not like about Dr. Martin. Future patients should know that he's the best around. He's talented and skilled. If you listen to him, he'll tell you what to do about aftercare. Ask him any questions that you have, he'll take whatever time it takes to help you. His office will give you printed instructions about aftercare, and you can call them with any questions. Dr. Martin was honest and open about the risks. His staff had already covered everything but Dr. Martin will talk to you directly about the risks. Dr. Martin is the very best Doctor for WLS. The is no better Doctor anywhere. The question here is about which is better, surgical competence or bedside manner, it's a moot point with Doctor Martin. He's great with both. He has a wonderful bedside manner and he's the most skilled Doctor around with WLS. I do not have anything negative to say about Dr. Martin or St. Charles General Hospital.
