Weight Management Center Bariatric Center

I was a patient of Dr. Greg Scalia and Dr. Louis Martin through the Weight Management Center until Hurricane Katrina. I was very happy with them.

I am trying to locate them due to issues that I am having where I currently live as the local bariatric surgeons will not see me as they did not do my surgery.

If anyone knows where they are could you please post. I have searched everywhere I have knowledge of but cant find them.

I would recommend them tremendously.

Before I went to New Orleans to see if Dr. Martin can do my wls I had gone to 4 other places to see if they can do my wls. The 4 doc's said that given my weight (670 pounds) and a height of 5"9 they told me that it just was too risky to be able to get the wls done through them. The 4 doctors all used the laperscopic tools and it just would not be long enough to get the surgery done. I was so scared and almost have gotten to the point to where I was just ready to give up. But before I did, I got a call from the last Dr, I saw (Dr. Glystien)that I went to and he told me that there was a doctor that he had assisted and even taught when he was working at learning hospital. Dr. Martin did say he could do the surgery but first I had to prove that I could lose some weight to eliminate the chance of dying on the table. It took about 6 months and the lost of 40 pounds before Dr. Martin let me know that He feels that I was ready for surgery. I consider Dr. Martin and the whole staff that worked for that hospital (saint charles hospital) my family and nothing less of a Saint for helping me live again!

IN 2000 I WEIGHTED IN AT 380 LBS I MET DR.MARTIN AND FELL IN LOVE WITH HIM,HE WAS SO SWEET AND ANSWER ALL MY QUESTION I HAD KNOW PROBLEM GOING IN AND HAVING HIM DOING MY SURGERY...THE DAY OF MY SURGERY I WOULD LET NO ONE TOUCH ME ARE LET THEM PUT ME TO SLEEP UNTIL I SAW HIS FACE,HE SAID HE WAS HERE NOW GO TO SLEEP..SMILE AND I WOKE UP HE WAS STANDING THERE BESIDE MY BED WITH A SMILE TO LET ME KNOW EVERYTHING WENT WELL..I JUST LOVE THE WAY HE MADE ME FEEL IN WAS COMFORTABLE KNOWING I WAS UNDER HIS CAE..I DID CARE FOR THE NURSE'S AT ST CHARLES GENERAL BUT I LOVE HIM..I AM NOW RETURNING TO HIM FOR A REVISION I SINCE GAIN ABOUT 30 LBS AND HE IS THE ONLY DOCTOR I ALLOW TO TOUCH ME..

This surgeon performed the wrong surgery on me. Complications that resulted from his incompetence led to nine additional surgeries (one of which kept me in the hospital for 11 weeks). Still I am left dealing with PTSD as a result of what was done to my body without my desire or consent to.

I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED WITH THE PHYSICIANS,STAFF AT THE WEIGHT MANAGEMENT CENTER. IT WAS HARD DRIVING SO FAR. I REALLY APPRECIATE THE INTENSE PRE/POST CARE THAT DR. SCALIA AND OTHER PHYSICIANS GAVE. I KNOW PEOPLE THAT HAVE WENT TO MONROE LOUISIANA MDS HAD GASTRIC BYPASS INSTRUCTED TO WATCH WHAT THEY EAT AND IN A MONTH ARE DRINKING CARBONATED BEVERAGES AND HAVE NOT HAD PRE/POST CARE EXCEPT PHYSICAL WOUND CHECKS.. I HAVE GIVEN COPIES OF INSTRUCTIONS FOR POST OP DIET. rnI WAS NOT IMPRESSED AS MUCH WITH ST. CHARLES HOSPITAL/WMC WHEN I ATTEMPTED A YEAR LATER TO GET A COPY OF MY SURGICAL REPORT. TO HAVE FOR MY ROUTINE DOCS IN CASE I NEEDED IT IF A PROBLEM AROSE. I AM A NURSE AND KNOW THAT ALOT OF PLACES DESTROY RECORDS AFTER A CERTAIN NUMBER OF YEARS. I HAD HOSP I WORKED SEND RELEASE,MY DOCS FROM HOME,MYSELF WITH OUT SUCCESS.THEN THE HURICANES PREVENTED ANY FURTHER ATTEMPTS. I BELIEVE DR. SCALIA/WMC HAVE MOVED TO TOUREAU IN NEW ORLEANS. I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF I CAN STILL GET MY RECORD.rnST. CHARLES HOSP. SENT ME AN ITEMIZED BILL INSTEAD OF MY INSURANCE. I STILL HAVE IT. THE CHARGES OF THE LAPROSCOPIC EQUIPMENT THAT WE USE IN SURGERY WAS TRIPLE THE PRICE THAT MY HOSPTIAL CHARGED AT THE TIME. I HAD RECIEVED A REQUEST TO SEE ANY INFO SHOWING HOW CHARGES WERE INFLATED BY ST. CHARLES AND THEIR MAIN COMPANY. I NEVER HEARD BACK. THE HURRICANE MOST LIKELY INTERFEARED WITH THAT ALSO.DR.SCALIA AND OTHER DOCS WERE GREAT.

Dr. Theresa Klainer, angel from above. She had the surgery herself, so I trusted her. She is caring, empathetic, and down to earth. She is through in examinations and truly cares about her patients, lifestyles and outcomes. Her aftercare program superceeds any I've ever seen before, they are strict, but its worth it...she has her patient's best interest at heart. On a scale of 1-10, she is a definiate 10! Very professional,caring,unrushed. Seemed to care about me and not the whole Process. He handled the office visit ,all questions without office staff. Gave me his cell and home number for any questions. Answered it too. Great bed side manner. Surgical staff and Hospital staff liked and respects him. Great experience so far. Plan to wait for your appointment.

Dr. Klainer is a wonderful doctor. Everything about getting ready for my surgery was all crazy due to hurricane Katrina. The doctor had to move so the process was very long.
When everything was in order she was so helpful in preparing me for the surgery. The staff and doctors that work in her group which is with LSU were wonderful. I ended up having my surgery at Vista Surgical Center in Baton Rouge, LA since the New Orleans hospital was shut down. I would recommend Vista to everyone. They were just wonderful there. It is a small facility I received all sorts of attention. When I called the nurse she was there.
