Bariatric Center of Kansas City Bariatric Center
Post-Op Info: I can't say enough about Dr. Hoehn, The KC Bariatric Center, and SMMC! Surgery was very successful and I'm now on my way along with the others on the loser's bench! I would recommend this Center and Surgeon to anyone!! I'll provide more updates further down the road!!rnrnPre-Op Info: After researching WLS for the past couple of years, I finally am almost there! I've met Dr. Hoehn at my first pre-op visit and he is great! During all of my various pre-op appointments and from others that have either had him perform their surgeries, I've heard nothing but great things about him, so looking forward to having him perform my Lap RNY! Will update this area after surgery on 30 Jun 08!
He was very young looking. rnrnNo, just that he was also direct and willing to answer any questions that I had.rnrnHis office staff is wonderful. They are very warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful!rnrnNothing.rnrnYou don't see him until you actually schedule your surgery. Make sure that you have a list of any and all questions when you see him, because that visit is extremely short and you don't see him again until your surgery date.rnrnThe program his is with strongly advocates after care.rnrnYes, they have a structured after care program.rnrnThey presented it at a seminar and gave tons of literature regarding benefits, risks, etc.rnrnHe is an excellent surgeon and I would recommend him and the program to anyone!rnrnSurgical competence and bedside maner are both great! However, since you don't see Dr. Hoehn that much, don't expect him to remember you!
I can't say enought about Dr. Hoehn. He made me feel comfortable from the first time I meet him. He seemed to really care about my situation and was willing to take all the time I needed to talk. His staff is great, from his front office staff to nurses to his P.A. The office is very busy but I never minded the wait because once it was my turn, I never felt rushed. I felt that everything was explained to me and I left with all my questions answered. His bedside manner is great and my surgery went off without a problem. I would go to him again in a heart beat! On a scale of 1-10, I rate Dr. Hoehn and his office a 10!
My first impression of Dr. Hoehn was that he had to be too young to do this. However, I quickly learned that he was probably older than he looked. He is definitely someone you can talk with and he listens. rnrnThe office staff have gone out of their way to be accomodating in every way. They are sometimes hard to reach, but considering their patient workload they do an outstanding job. rnrnDr. Hoehn's program is very thorough and structured. His surgical competence and bedside manner are outstanding. I would highly recommend him and his program.
Dr. Hoehn is fantastic! He is very professional, informative and has a great bed side manner. His program is strict but the results of his patients show the value in the pre-care and post-care requirements. I highly recommend Dr. Hoehn and his program. I had a unique situation as a different surgeon in Kansas City put in my lapband 5 years ago. I had complications and didn't feel comfortable with my original surgeon to help me with the complications. Dr. Hoehn was great, he had to take my band out due to the complications but I am so confident in his skills and his program that I had him do the VSG on me and so far it is perfect.
My first impression of Dr. Hoehn was, \"This is a man who is doing WLS because he truly wants to see people succeed, not just for shear numbers.\" Over time my first thoughts were validated first through my wife's journey and then through my own. The office staff are wonderful people who treat you like family knowing your name and always providing positive encouragement. Aftercare is strongly emphasized to the point that there is a support group specifically for both RNY and lap-band patients. The program is very structured and it starts before you ever have surgery to ensure you are a patient for Shawnee Mission's Bariatric Program as much as we are looking to determine if he is the surgeon we want to do our WLS. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Dr. Hoehn a 10+, an all around great surgeon with awesome surgical competence and great bedside manner.
My first impression of Dr. Hoehn was that he was young!!!! But he was informative in the seminar, and he had the same sence of humor that I do. Dr. Hoehn's office staff has been nothing but helpful and understanding, we had to travel 3 1/2 hours one way for the appointments and they were very accomodating. Dr. Hoehn has a great nurse, Linda, she returns your calls and doesn't make you feel like you are asking a stupid question, that helps alot. One of the first things that Dr. Hoehn reminded me was this is just a tool, the aftercare and following their program is what will be most helpful to me, and I agree. I would give him and his office staff a 10 for a rating , I really have not had a bad experience with any one of them, nor do I anticipate any. I should say the only negative thing I can think of is that 3 1/2 hours one way to see the Dr. is a long trip , and I have waited in the office about an hour for an appointment.
