Dr.Anez is the greatest in my book. He took wonderful care of my mother and is so far doing the same for me. He has been informative and has stressed the importance of support and life long changes. He puts you and your health at the top of his list and will continue to take an intrest in you even after he has your money. This is truly his heart and soul he puts into his work! THANKS DR ANEZ!!
I WILL BE GOING IN FOR MY FIRST VISIT ON 1/13/06 AND WILL UPDATE AFTERWARDS. BUT I MUST SAY THAT HIS STAFF IS SOOOO FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGABLE. I CALLED TO FIND OUT WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MY FIRST VISIT AND TO FIND OUT ALL OF WHAT WAS REQUIRED TO GET THE FASTEST APPROVAL AND THEY GLADLY LISTED OUT STEP BY STEP WHAT WAS NEEDED. I AM HAPPY TO SAY I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF ALMOST EVERYTHING BEFORE MY INITIAL APPOINTMENT.
My first impression of Dr. Anez was "KIND". He seemed like such a kind man and explained the surgery in detail.
In his office, they will contact your insurance company for you, make all the doctor appointments for you if you choose. There is a fee for that, but let me tell you, it was well worth it. They sent me in the mail a list of appointments that I had to go to, etc..
I would definately recommend Dr. Anez to anyone who is looking into having the surgery.
I felt very comfortable with Dr. Anez. I selected him before I met him based on his experience and after reading at least 200 of his patients testimonials. I told him that I had researched WLS on the internet and that I had read about him on the internet. He smiled and told me to keep reading and researching. I read the profile of some of his patients and noticed that not many of them experienced serious complications and they received very good follow up care. He emphasized aftercare. Surgical competence is more important to me.
Dr. Anez was knowledgable and friendly. He answered all of the questions that my husband and I had when we sat down with him. His staff is very nice and helpful. I was glad that the woman making my appt. mentioned that Dr. Anez runs late a lot. I waited 45 minutes to see him after my appt. time. I was not in with him very long as I didn't have many questions. He seemed to know how to play the insurance game very well and was helpful in getting referrals.
Dr. Anez was very to the point in my first meeting. After that, you basically deal with the office staff for almost everything until the pre op visit.
The office is very helpful. They always returned calls or put me through to the staff person with whom I needed to speak. Staff organized nutritionist, physical therapist and took care of the insurance approval.
The office waiting room is too small and is somewhat of a zoo as a general rule, but it was good to speak to others who were either post op or were there to arrange surgery as I was.
My one complaint so far was over the removal of my staples. The staff wanted to let a staff person remove them in the absence of the doctor, which ment I would not be seen by the physician during that visit. I was uncomfortable with this and elected to go to the other office to see Dr. Halmi. I had met him in the hospital as Dr. Anez went out of town, and liked him as well.
Dr. Anez is a quaint gentleman straight to the point but above all a great surgeon. His office staff is wonderful and bilingual. If you visit him, depending on your insurance, you can probably have surgery within 30 days.Aftercare is great, very attentive. Inova Fair Oaks Hospital staff is great as well.Overall his surgical competence is better than his bedside manner. Don't expect to be making a new freind unless its with his staff.
In May 2005, I trusted Dr. Anez on sight, but before I ever set foot in his office I had researched him on this site and in every other resource I could locate. He came well recommended and highly respected. If he hadn't, I would have found someone else. What cinched the decision to go with Dr. Anez was the 1500+ surgeries he has performed for the past 20 years. He has his technique down ~cold~. I found him friendly and warm. He explained everything carefully, but still insists that the patient read and understand (and re-read and re-understand)the informational brochure: life as they know it will change forever. He is adamant about education before and AFTER surgery. At no point in the process will you not know what you are supposed to be doing. A 4 hour lecture and personalized visits with his nutritionist are mandatory for you to become a patient. This stands in stark contrast from people who have said they had their surgery and were handed a xerox checklist and left to fend for themselves. There is a dynamic group of his patients in the Northern Virginia area that have establised support and educational groups too.
If you want to be in expert surgical hands and a warm, welcoming environment of fellow patients, I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Anez as your bariatric surgeon.
I had my first consult with Dr. Anez on May 3, 2005. I was completely impressed with him. He listened to my medical history and reviewed my records and he patiently answered my questions. He was very thorough in his explanation of the procedure, risks & complications, after-care and the importance of taking vitamins. He was pleasant and personable and even joked with my husband and I. He took his time with me and put me at ease. I have no complaints about him or his staff at this time. Nurse Lisa is awesome. She also had the surgery and has lost so much weight and is a WEALTH of information. Everyone in the office was friendly and treated me like they had always known me. I feel very comfortable here.
