Obesity Surgery Center Bariatric Center
Dr. Anez is a wonderful, caring compassionate surgeon. He did a great job with my open gastric bypass. I also had my gallbladder removed 15 months later with him and you wouldn't even know I had two procedures with him because the markings are so faint. rnrnHis office staff is great and very supportive. You can't ask for a better bariatric support team and gifted surgeon in the Washington DC area!
My first impression of Dr. Anez is that he really knew what he was doing. I wasn't quite sure how to take him at first, he seemed kind of cold and distant, but by the end, I wouldn't have chosen another surgeon but him :) Dr. Anez's bedside manner in the hospital was wonderful, he was very understanding and listened to what I had to say in the hospital. rnrnHis office staff is great, everyone is really helpful and nice, several of his staff have had the procedure done as well, so they know what you're going through.rnrnThey have a very nice structured program for before and after your surgery, they really make sure that you know what you're body will need afterward. Sally Myers is great, rnrn
Dr. Anez and his staff was wonderful. He took the time to answer all of my questions and describe completely everything that was going to happen before, during and after the surgery. He is a great man and would most rndefinitely recommend everyone to see him. He knows his stuff.
I have been extremely happy with Dr Anez. He and his staff have been helpful in answering all my questions both before and after the surgery. I highly recommend Dr Anez if you are thinking of having bariatric surgery.
I was pleasantly suprised when I met Dr. Anez. I had read that he could be aloof and distant. I found him to be warm, informative, and willing to answer all my questions. I also really like his staff...especially Sally, the Nutritionist on staff. So far they have all made the run-up to surgery easy. With the number of surgeries Dr. Anez has performed, I would have went with him even if his bedside manner was less than pleasant. Fortunately for me, that's not the case. Dr. Anez's office has a thorough aftercare program, and I'm looking forward to working with him and his staff in the future.
Dr Anez was a fantastic surgeon. He had a nutrition program at his office that fulfilled the requirements for my insurance. In fact, he has a specific program in place just for it.
The office staff is top notch. Several of them have gone through the surgery as well. They really seem to care about you and how well you are doing.
The insurance program (for nutrition and exercise requirements) was just starting (I was one of the first patients), so it wasn't as organized as it could have been. However, I'm sure that will get better with time. The nutritionist really knows her stuff. She has many years of experience working with gastric bypass patients and has many contacts in the field. She keeps up with the new products and tries them herself to see how they would work for GB patients.
There is also a support group within his office. It meets on the first Monday of the month. It provides for "newbies" as well as for those who are > 1 year postop. They even have a clothes exchange so that you don't always have to go out to buy new clothes.
Dr Anez made sure that I understood the proceedure completely. He addressed all the risks and made sure that I understood them.
The only thing that I didn't like about him was that his tone of voice was hard to hear. Overall, my experience with him was a positive one.
I have to say that all the staff was wonderful at Dr. Anez' office. Sally, the nutritionist, is wonderful. Tina made getting through the approval process and scheduling a breeze. I had only met Dr. Anez once before my surgery and although I was disappointed in his lack of medical questions or even personal interest in me as a patient, I allowed it to pass.
I was however not happy with my last experience with him. My last day in the hospital I asked him if he prescribed percocet for pain. I explained that I do not do well with it so he told e to just take one or I can take Tylenol 3. Feeling he misunderstood me I explained that unfortnately over the years with multiple surgeries and back problems I had built up an immunity, they did nothing for me. He laughed and walked away to drop the orders at the nurses station. When the nrse came to see me, she gave me a prescription for Percocet.
Sometimes I wonder if doctors forget that not all patients are the same. That just asking a few questions and actually listening to the answers rather than just humoring them could go a long way.
As a surgeon=10
Bedside manner=2
Dr. Anez is a very knowledgable man. He is reassuring and knows what he is doing. He really impressed me when explaining the procedure. He said if he was going to perform this surgery, he would rather do it open so he can see what he is doing. His office staff is amazing. They are readily available to answer any questions you may have and help you out in anyway possible. Several people have said that Dr. Anez's mannerism left a little to be desired, I have to say that he and I hit if off and did a lot of joking together. He is an amazing surgeon.
My first impression of my surgeon was good. It has improved with time.
My surgery was initially scheduled on December 15, 2005. It was cancelled at that time because my prothrombin time was not good. Dr. Anez was extremely thorough on preparing me for surgery.
His office staff initially was not that great compared to the one he has now. They are subperb.
Dr. Anez emphasizes after care and has a structured aftercare program in conjunction with INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital. He provides a brochure he has written that addresses all issues.
I rate him great with great bedside manner and surgical competance.
