I first met Dr. Anez on April 10th. He made me feel very comfortable. He answered all my questions and made me feel at ease about being put to sleep(i have a fear of being put to sleep)His office staff have been great to me. I bugged them for a couple days about my ins. but they understood and put up with me LOL. I go back to see Dr. Anez on Friday May 19th to pick up my surgery papers.

I loved Dr. Anez from the start. He was a funny caring man from the start. My impressions didn't cange you don't bite the hand that saves your life. I grew very fond of his staff. One of his nurses came to visit me in the hospital after my surgery. The thing I liked least about him was how far away he was, and that was all. What should furture patients know about him? He's competent caring and one hell of a good doctor. Yes he highly recommends after care and even has a nutrenlist (sorry) on staff to advise patients. He didn't mince words, people as heavy as I was(400 lbs.) are at risk. How would I rate him? On a scale of one to ten, ten being highest I would say he was a fourteen. Both, good medical care come with both. Now I did have a problem that Dr. Anez had to bring me through. I had a problem with intubation(tube down your throat) my body didn't like it and my breathing passages collapsed. I had to have a trak ( a tube in my throat). It was because of Dr. Anez I am still here today.

I met with Dr. Anez for the first time on March 3rd, 2000 in his Fairfax office. That was my consultation. I felt that Laurie was a little abrupt and condescending. There was an issue with my referral office not faxing a referral as they had been asked to do about a million times (by myself) and she made me to feel a fool in front of the whole office. Her attitude was very much like "you need me, I don't need you, so what's it going to be?" I would really rate that visit as a 0 on a scale of 1 to 10. We've since had a couple of conversations and seem to be on the same level. I don't have much of an opinion of his staff.

My first impression of Dr. Anez was a great one, he was so nice and very kind, taking time to answer all the questions I had, He took his time in explaining the surgery and what to expect during the surgery and after. he gave me info to read, and what the plan would be after surgery.
His office staff is wonderful, they where so nice, and funny, they where very helpful, and did all the paper work to get this surgery approved.
There was not just one thing I liked about the doctor, I liked his manner his paticents and his personal involvment. He is very knowledgeable, and willing to talk to you anytime, he tells you if you have any questions or problems to call him and come in he will make time for you.
Afercare is very important and he tells you right up front, that it is part of his program and that he expects you to follow it to the letter. His aftercare program is a very structured program, and his staff is fully involved with your before and after care.ON a scale of 1-10 I would rate him and his staff 11. I beleive that surgical competence and bedside manner are very important and he has both .

4/1/00 UPDATE THIS WAS THE BEST DOCTOR I HAVE EVER HAD, AND HIS STAFF IS #1 ALSO.

I have spoken with Dr. Anez two times now and both times he has seemed very caring and knowlegible. I really enjoy the staff. I feel that he and the staff will give me the before and after care I need. He is concerned in all areas of the WLS. Will post more after I get to know everyone better.

My first impression was that he really knew what he was doing. Very nonchalant person who wasn't just about making money to butcher someone. He cared, ask me if I was ready to do this again. He even scheduled me for a day that he normally doesn't to the surgery on. My impression of him never really changed for him. His staff is very knowledgeable of the procedure and really have good spirits about people suffering obesity and what they go through. I think future patients should know that Dr. Anez makes sure that you fully understand what happens before, during and after the surgery. He makes sure that you are absolutely ready for the change in your life. He's a very understanding person.

I have only met with Dr. Anez once. He appeared to be very competent. The office staff has not been nice to me. I have become so frustrated with their attitude that I am considering switching surgeons. However, Dr. Anez is the closest surgeon to my home. Perhaps things will improve. This has only been my first impression.

#1. Very low key. Found it easier talking to the nurses and dietician than to him. Not a problem. Office staff a definite plus!! Margaret is a dream! And she knows everything.
#2. Impression has not changed
#3. See above. Love them. Everytime I go to his office its like going to a support group. Everyone is sharing, etc.
#4.
#5. I haven't had surgery yet. Scheduled for 3/8/00, but so far I definitly recommend this group.
#6. Definitly emphasizes aftercare. Let's you know right up front that that is expected and included in insurance costs.
#7. I am not certain how structured it is. Will be finding out shortly and will update.
#8. Discusses risks and benefits in office visits.
#9. Will rate after surgery
#10. Will update after surgery.

Although Dr. Anez is a very quite man he was very nice and answered all my questions. His staff is also very kind, especially Lori. I needed a note from Dr. Anez to give to my employer and Lori faxed one to me right after my request. I also selected Dr. Anez' office because they have a great post-op support system....nutritionist and support group. It's very important to be comfortable with your surgeon and his staff, if you aren't happy with the one you are with....find one that you are comfortable with before going forward.
