Northside Hospital of Atlanta Bariatric Center
>>5 years post op lapband. I still love Dr. Richard and the practice, but I now want my band removed. I don't have any major complications but it has become more problem than helpful tool. I'm getting a total unfill ASAP. To anyone considering the band, please seriously consider VSG. The complication/revision/removal rate of lapband is crazy.
I chose him (well, the practice) because they don't seem to be the type that just slap a band on and send you out the door. They seem to be interested in the well being of their patients. They make you do a couple of things that some other doctors may not require (3 hour class, 3 hour psych eval, dietician appt, consult, you have to attend at least one group meeting pre op, etc). They really strive to have successful patients. Both of the doctors were very blunt about complications, there error rate (which they've had no in surgery complications thus far for lap band, which is what I'm getting). I'll update more post op. >>>> I had surgery on 1/22/09. Dr. Richard was awesome. He has an amazing attitude. He's so positive, cheerful, helpful, and very clear with his descriptions of things. I wouldn't chose another surgeon if I had the chance.>>> 2/26 I would just like to add that the staff at Obesity Solutions is awesome. They were great about answering my questions while I was going through all of the pre op hoops, they have always promptly returned my calls whenever I've had to leave messages. >>> 4/27 Just a little update to say that I am still 100% satisfied with everything. I have reached perfect restriction and have had no issues post op. Dr. Richard, Chris (his PA), and all of his staff are just perfect. Whenever I call with a question, I don't have to wait 1-2 days to get an answer. I almost always just have to hold on for a few minutes to get an answer. Followup appointments are always smooth. I'm not left in the waiting room or treatment room for an unreasonable amount of time. The nurse (I've always seen the same one) is super friendly, helpful, and positive. I've never left the office with a bad taste in my mouth, and that says a lot considering how many times I've been to the office in the last 8 months.
First impression was what made me decide to use him. He walked in and smiled at us instead gawking at the future clients. rnMy impression hasn't changed and probably won't I would refer any and everyone I know to him. Overall he is the best Dr. I have ever dealt with. HE gave me my life back and for that I will always owe him everything.
Let me just give you some background to start with. I reside in Calhoun GA and there are other Bariatric Surgeons closer to me. So, it was hard on me trying to choose where I wanted to have my WLS. rnrnI had met a lady named Ginger on OH that I became really fond of and she was based out of Alpharetta GA. And that is how I became acquainted with Dr. Williams.rnrnI really liked Dr. Williams from the very beginning. He has good bedside manner and took the time to address every question I had. His office staff is outstanding. Jackie and Janet are the only two I had dealings with at the office and they were wonderful. Very courteous and helped me in anyway I needed before and after surgery. rnrnNorth Fulton Regional Hospital, where Ginger works offer monthly support group. Dr. Williams, his staff and Ginger are very adamant on this. They want you to attend. If not with them, like in my case, somewhere close by. Which is what I'm going to to. They offer support groups in Rome Ga or Dalton Ga. I haven't decided exactly which to attend just yet, but I will attend. I will also go to North Fulton's on occasion. It's just once a month. rnrnI am so glad that I decided upon Dr. Williams. I really like Ginger and appreciate her. She was a big help in the beginning as wall as Janet. So, yeah, If I were going to make a recommendation....it would be with Dr. Williams at North Fulton with Ginger.

I am a patient now for Dr. Williams for my revision to RNY! My surgery date is 4/9/09. (My original surgery Lapband info is as follows)...As of today, 10/26/04, i have changed my surgeon to be Dr. Lee Grossbard. He is amazing, he has a band himself. I am already in love with him, his office, and staff. They are great!!! I can't say enough great things. They went the extra mile to really help me and to get me into their office when I had a unpleasant situation with my former surgeon. Thank God, I hadn't had surgery with them (The Wish Center)
I am excited to attend a seminar tomorrow with Dr. Hart at Emory Johns Creek. I have previously attended a seminar a few months ago, but their group is not on my insurance..... I'll let you know how it goes....3-3-09rnrnI had my first office visit with Dr. Hart on Thursday, March 26, 2009. He was very kind and patient. He listened to all of my questions and answered them all- I asked if he got that alot- tons of questions- he said \"sure\" and smiled. The overall experience was great! His office staff was friendly and gave the impression that they cared! I know this is a partnership that I will live with for years to come- and I am feeling good about it!
I have met with Dr Richard and was very impressed with him and his staff.rnThey are very nice and professional people and made me feel very comfortable with my decision. I am hoping to be having RNY in the very near future. I like the fact that you have to see a dietician and the psychologist and they have a support group for their patients, I know I will need support and will enjoy meeting new people and making new friends, Will let you know more when I know more.rnGod BlessrnI am now 8 weeks out since my surgery and am doing great I have nothing but good things to say about Dr Robert Richard and the staff at Obesity Solutions I had a wonderful experience and am really glad to have had the surgery I expect to have a very full future with lots of new things to do since I can get out and about morernGod Bless
I had the RNY (lap) on 1/15/2009. Dr. Williams performed my surgery.rnrnMy first visit to his office was very pleasant. All my questions were answered Jackie and Janet took the best care of me with regard to making me feel comfortable about my decision and any concerns I had regarding surgery, recovery, and life after surgery. If I had it to over again I would definitely pick Dr. Williams and his staff.

My experience so far: When Dr. Williams walked in the room he had a quiet confident demeanor. As we talked, I became even more comfortable and found him to be very knowledgable and honest about the risks and benefits of surgery. I wasn't sure which surgery was best for me (I was deciding between RNY & VSG) and he answered all of my questions about both options. He did not try to push me in either direction. He stated facts about the benefits of one over the other and ultimately I chose the RNY. His staff was wonderful! They were all so friendly! I must admit I was concerned while setting up the appointment because there was some confusion on paperwork, but then Jackie told me they had recently moved and were working on some kinks. It seems those kinks are either worked out or very close to it. After care was stressed several times throughout the office visit by the nurse and doctor. In my opinion surgical competence and bedside manner are both very important. Dr. Williams seems to have both. My husband and I both left feeling very comfortable with this decision and our chose of a physician.
