Midwest Institute of Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Bariatric Center
I first met Dr. Glascock at his informational seminar. He was very straightforward in answering any questions. I saw him again at support group and then at my pre-surgery consultation. He and his staff are excellent. They spent a lot of time listening and answering my questions. Late in the evening after my surgery Dr. Glascock stopped in to see how I was doing and sat and chatted with me even though it was quite late & I'm sure he was wanting to get home. His staff is always available when I call and very helpful with questions and concerns I've had after surgery. Dr. Glascock is very thorough with his pre-op testing. Because of thoroughness it was found that I had a tumor on my kidney, which I may otherwise never have known about until it was too late. I would highly recommend Dr. Glascock and Sartori Hospital.
Dr. Matt is totally wonderful. He is very good at what he does. I think he does a great job in making sure his patients are very well informed and have all the pieces to make a good decision about WLS.
Dr. Glascock is very nice, you don't see him much but he does excellent work and he cares deeply about his people. He is very firm on what you are to do....that is to keep you safe.
The staff at the office have all been so nice and helpful.
I would do this in a heart beat again, but only with him and his staff.
The after care is wonderful. I would have liked to learn more about the diet just before and just after on visits so I would be aware of new things. I had diet info from my 1st appointment in October and my surgery was in May, so a up date with the dietitan would have been nice for a refresher.
I would have liked to see Dr. Glascock after surgery to tell him thanks, but his assistant Angie and nurse Lynn are very nice.
I felt very safe and confident with him doing my surgery and he has a wonderful track record. Thats what counts!\

Having had health problems my whole life, I have seen literally hundreds of doctors. Dr. Glascock is definitely in the top 10. He cares about the whole person, not just about making someone thin but helping them make choices to improve their health. He is direct about his expectations of patients following the surgery, and he's also direct about patients' expectations of him.
He is an excellent surgeon who has surrounded himself with excellent staff. From the office staff, to the surgery assists (Jason was fabulous, laughing with him was one of the last things I remember before going out), to Sartori nurses, everyone was dedicated to my and my care.
When he went out and visited my husband and parents following the surgery, my mom asked if she could hug him -- and he said he never turns down a hug! She was nervous and wanted him to know how much she appreciated him taking good care of me. He and his staff certainly did.
The aftercare is one of the best features of Dr Glascock's program. He emphasizes WLS only as a tool, not as a magic procedure. It takes continual support to make the best choices throughout our lives, and I'm thankful he's committed to patients during their entire lives.
I think Dr. Glascock really knows his stuff. He makes darn sure you know what your in for and how this is the last thing you should consider. His staff are all really great, especially Jenny The one problem I do have is, this process has been very slow, I believe that things should have moved along faster than they have. For me it has been almost 7 months since insurance ok'd and I just now have a surgery date. His aftercare he requires is great, he says it's between you and him for life. Overall, he is wonderful, I recommed Dr. Glascock to all.
I have only seen Dr Glascock once. He seemed to be a really nice guy. I have my first real appointment with him on March 12th, I guess I will know more about him then. His staff is WONDERFUL! I called them MANY times and they where always very nice to me and answered all my questions.
My first impession of Dr. Glascock was he is very straight to the point and if he didn't think you were ready for this life long commitment he would not do the surgery on you. After surgery he was excellent, straight forward and really there to help you succeed. He is a perfectionist and makes you go through a lot of testing, making sure your body can handle surgery and that there are no underlying problems that could cause the surgery to be dangerous for you. Also he wants you on a 2 week liquid diet pryor to surgery and 2week liquid diet after surgery and then he tells you when you can advance in the diet. If he thinks you are not ready he will not advance you. With him being very upfront in the beginning about all the risks and the risks if surgery was not done, it made my decision to go through surgery one that I knew was the right one. He is a very excellent doctor, and his staff are just awesome. They are always there to help you no matter what.
At my initial consultation I was impressed by Dr. Glascock's down-to-business demeanor and that he wanted to know if I was ready to succeed at this. His job was to provide the tool, it was my job to use it correctly and achieve great results. Throughout the process I was impressed over and over again by him and his nurse Lynne. They were always wonderful. Also, throughout my hospital stay, Dr. Glascock was there to check on my progress and provide a bit of comic relief. He was always very caring and never made me feel as though I was just another patient. In my experience, I have found him to be an exceptional doctor who will be supporting me on my journey for the rest of my life.
Dr.Glascock is the greatest, he lets you know right away this isn't the easy way out, and what is to be expected from you before and after surgery. He lets you know it is a lifetime of change, so there is no way you go in not knowing what to expect. His nurse Jenny is the greatest! She is always very nice to you even if you have called her 3 times that day, she never makes you feel like you are bothering her. Dr Glascock likes you to work out prior to surgery so you are in the best shape you can be before it, and of course he wants you to be active afterwards, he has a great support system in place for before and after with groups meeting once a month, then there is an off branch of another support group so you always have someone to talk to. His bedside mannor is great, he doesn't pull any punches.I am glad he has come back to Iowa to help others.
