I recently noticed a post on the main board about how reviews weren't honest....well I'm here to tell you I'm a real person..and Dr.G is my savior. He is very strict as the others point out and you better be prepared when you go in pre-op for the major workover..they do everything. Everyone is so nice and helpful..Mary and Kim are fab. Dr. G Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm only 5 weeks out but already I can feel the effects this has had. MUAH!

My surgeon is great -- Dr. Glascock in Cedar Falls, Iowa. I found and selected him based on information from this site, so THANK YOU to others who took the time to provide feedback on him!!! He is highly experienced, having done over 1600 WLS, including 600 or 800 in the past couple years at the Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls. He specializes in laparoscopic surgery, and while he does different surgeries it seems WLS is his speciality. He is EXTREMELY CONSERVATIVE which is a quality I have come to really value in him! It was a little frustrating at times because it seemed he was being so strict on pre-op testing, following up on every little thing, and also that his pre-op diet seemed more intense than others (2 weeks clear liquids, modified to include V8, V8 Fusion, OJ and whey protein). But I am very grateful for his caution, as well as his skill. I felt very confident in him from things I had read here, and my experience at each step along the way has served to increase my confidence in him. I would strongly recommend him and the Sartori Hospital to anyone in the Eastern Iowa area! rnrnOk, seeing the request to balance positives with negatives, I would only add that Dr. Glascock came across to me, at times, as a little arogant, which I suppose is typical of surgeons. And I certainly wouldn't want to go to a surgeon who seemed to lack in self confidence! His nurse, Mary, rubbed me wrong at times -- she is a tough task master, but I will say that by the time I was ready for surgery I was extremely grateful for her diligence and tenacity! She make sure I had all my i's dotted and t's crossed so that my surgery date did not have to be moved. She said at one point, \"I hope I wasn't too bossy (regarding my pre-op testing). While she did seem a little rigid at times, I can see clearly in hindsight that it was with a purpose! She does her job very, very well! :-)

The first time I met Dr. Glascock,I wasn't sure i liked him,he was very professional. But when i seen him before surgery i thought this guy really knows his stuff. And I liked him.I like the way he really is concerned about his patients well being before and after surgery.well i think any new patients should know they are in great hands with Him.I would think he deserves a 10 for his professionalism and a 10 for his after care, and a 10 for his over all self confidence in what he does to help over weight people live a normal healthier life,

Dr. Matt is amazing, he is personable, down to earth, and real life. I appreciate everything he has done for me and my health.. His skill level is amazing and his philosophy true to the surgery, not just for the glory. He has always been here for me, and will continue as long as I need him!

Dr. Glascock is very warm and definitely knows his stuff. He has an absolute top notch staff.. from the office staff to the hospital staff. rnrnHe knows his program works and is very passionate about you getting the results you want.. but emphasizes that you need to work the tools.rnrnI chose him over several other options and couldn't be happier. He is absolutely top notch!

I attended Dr. Glascocks seminar and really liked his personality. He just made me feel secure in my decision to go with him. After meeting with Angie the PA, there was absolutley no doubt in my mind about going with this facility. I love Angie, she is awesome!

Dr. Glascock is a wonderful doctor. He is very stern with you at first, but that is because you are a team member with him. He'll do his part, but you have to be committed to yourself to make this work. He is very personal and you can talk to him about anything. He will answer all your questions and wants you to make sure that this is what you want. Yearly follow-up appointments are very essential so you can keep on track. If you are a success, then so is he. He doesn't want you to fail! He gets an A+!

I first heard Dr. Matt at an informational seminar which I was required to attend as the start of my WLS endeavor. My husband and I were both VERY VERY IMPRESSED with him. Not only was he good looking but he was so professional and yet fun and witty. It didn't take long to see that he took his work extremely seriously and that he also had a lot of pride in what he did. He comes from a long line of doctors in his family plus his wife is an ob/gyn.rnrnMy impression of him has not changed at all 6 months down the road except that I admire him even more then ever....it is amazing how he trained in this field then came back to Iowa and headed up one of the finest-state-of-the-art- WLS operating rooms ever!rnrnDr. Matt has a fantastic caring bedside manner. One thing to note though is that he does not tolerate it well if you do NOT follow his instructions. He expects you to listen and do what he says and I admire him for that. He is very thorough when he addresses the risks of surgery and I felt a lot of comfort in the fact that I never once questioned his competence as my surgeon.rnrnThis program does offer a monthly optional seminar in Waterloo and it is always good...they offer different speakers and formats each month. Right now it is set up that you do have to go back to the office at three month intervals. You have blood work- ups plus time for questions for the assistant as well as for the dietician....you may also call the dietician at certain times for advice.I now see his assistant Angie for followup care and she is sooooo knowledgeable in weight loss surgery and obesity issues as well as extremely caring that I feel quite fortunate to have her in my life!rnrnI personally get more of a warm, caring, atmosphere from Angie (assistant) then I do from the office staff but that is just me. There is a before and after photo book in the waiting room that has the power to make or break someones fears on WLS and it is just awesome..... I would like to see that elaborated on and updated somehow on each patient but I'm not sure if that would be possible. rnrnI also personally LOVE AND LIVE FOR THE OBESITY HELP MAGAZINES as well as the WEBSITE and would like for everyone who comes in the office to be exposed to them somehow. rnrnEven though there are a few things I would like to change or add here, I want everyone to know that overall I rate this doctor and staff at a 10 and would highly recommend them to everyone.....I also would proudly do it all over again if I had to.
