When I first met Dr. Regan he seemed very quiet, almost shy. He didn't waste any time in getting through my appointments. It took me awhile to realize that if I had nothing to say, he didn't either. If you have questions for him, he will spend a lot of time answering them and making sure that you understand. His office staff is terrific, especially Sue D., one of the nurses. When I called Sue with problems post-op, she was on top of it and made sure I received help as soon as humanly possible. The staff is extremely professional and courteous. They conduct monthly support group meetings for pre and post-op patients. I would highly recommend Dr. Regan and his staff for anyone that is considering gastric bypass surgery.

Dr. Joseph Regan at Columbia-St. Mary's is the surgeon I have selected. In the spring, I attended the seminar put on by the Bariatric Center at C-SM and Dr. Regan displayed such compassion and understanding about what obesity is all about. I am sure that the other surgeons at the Center are excellent as well, but in my mind I felt Dr. Regan was for me. I had my consult yesterday with Dr. Regan, Sue, Mauri and Jean, the nutritionist, and my experience could not have been more positive.

Aftercare was the topic most discussed by all I met with. Everyone kept stressing that the surgery is but a small part to conquering obesity -- the rest is up to me. Jean went over everything in detail about proteins, vitamins, liquids, etc. She stressed that she is there for me at any time.

Of course, surgery risk, was explained. To me, the risk is not having the surgery. I am obese, I have sleep apnea and sleep with a CPAP, I have some osteoporosis in my spine, I take drugs for hyptertension, high cholesterol and for hypothyroidism. All this at 54? To me, the risk is minimal if I gain years of feeling good.

I now have to schedule my consults with the other professionals and wait for the final approval from BC/BS. Sue felt very confident that my request will be approved as other similar employees have had success with approval.

When I returned to work yesterday, I couldn't focus. As I write this, I feel like Cinderella. I look forward to the next step.

It is now 4 weeks since I had my surgery and I have nothing but praise for Dr. Regan and his staff. Everything went just as they predicted it would and there was nothing for me to question -- they provide all the answers. I cannot recommend Dr. Regan highly enough. Absolutely not one complaint.

1st Impression was OMG young dr... ok. My impression did not change. He is a younger doctor and he knows the craft well. He and his staff have a GREAT bedside manner. Any questions or problems just call there. He and the staff are pulling for you. They all want you to succeed 110%, the after care is a HUGE part for them. Sue has advised several times about the meetings and such. Call they will tell you when the next meetings are. Risks are explained IN SIMPLE PLAIN english so you can understand everything. I would rate on a scale of 1-10 a 9 as everyone has flaws... I just don't know what his is yet.

Dr. Siverhus seemed very professional when I first met him. He seemed pretty down to Earth. I will write more as time goes on.

When I first met Dr. Siverhus I thought that he was very friendily but serious. I knew that I would be in good hands with him as my surgeon. He answered all of my questions and he respected me as a person.

My impression of him has only gotten better. I advise all of the people that I know who are interested in WLS to see him.

Carol,Sue Morie and Peg are all excellent care providers. I am grateful to have them in my corner.

After care is discussed and taught months before surgery. I do not think that with this team you will have many questions after surgery because they believe that you should have no surprises afterwards. I feel that my doctor and his staff are always available to me. I am only a phone or visit away if I need help. All of the risk are explained to you months in advance. I feel like you should know what the risk are before you even come to visit a surgeon. This is not a dicion that you make over night. As a patient and the person who's life will be effected for ever YOU need to do your homework and not just leave it to the doctor to fix everything for you.

I love my surgeon and his staff. If the rating scale were 1-10 I would give them 100! They are over and above on every detail.

My first and lasting impression of Dr. Siverhus was that he is a very caring man and he genuinely loves what he does. He seems to get a real kick out of watching you morph into a new person and gets excited over the changes with you. He cares about you as a person. His entire group at Columbia St. Marys couldn't be better. Sue Dugan is a force to be reckoned with and she's always there for you. I made the decision to change my life and they have made it possible for me to take this journey. I never had any problems with the paperwork, Sue and the group just handled everything. I had very few postop difficulties and those I did experience were handled promptly by the staff. Dr. Siverhus and his staff made themselves available to help in any way possible. I would definitely recommend the Bariatric Center at Columbia St. Marys to anyone considering this type of life style change.

I had no complications after surgery and had a really quick recovery. The pain was minimal and I was back to work on the eighth day after surgery.

Dr. Regan and his bariatric team/staff are very knowledgable and have excellent empathy and repoire with their patients. My first impression of Dr. Regan was that he was very professional and really cared about me as an individual- not just another patient. This impression has lasted throughout several months of check-ups, surgery and post-op. I highly recommend Dr. Regan and the bariatric team at Columbia Hospital. They are dedicated to the success and well-being of each and every weight loss surgery patient.

I first met Dr Regan in July 2004 at a seminar at Columbia Hospital. The information that he provided was assuring. He was very informative and I felt secure in him as my surgon. Insurance was easy for us. His staff is WONDERFUL! They are all caring and concerned. He gave me the tool to loose the weight and I have been successful! I have lost 179 pounds in 9 months. I love the local support meetings and I have met so many nice people. Nice people that can relate to me and that I can relate to them.

My first impression of Dr. Joseph Reagan was that he appeared to be very young looking and boy is he handsome. Dr. Joseph is very knowledgeable, thorough, and informative. Dr. Regan's Staff Team here were extremly nice and helpful. Shout out to Sue, Peg, Joan, and Carol. Future patients should know that Dr. Reagan will suggest the best procedure for you, remember he's the expert. He emphasizes a great deal on how important aftercare is and also has a very structured aftercare program. I would rate Dr. Reagan overall as good and would refer anyone who's interested in WLS to him. I believe surgical competence is most important of all when compared to beside manner. Having a great beside manner does help. My opinion and it's only my opinion is that Dr. Regan has both.

I met Dr. Regan, just twice, and at both occassions I felt well relaxed. He made you feel like you were someone and not just a fat lump. His staff treated me like I was part of a huge and growing family. He answered my questions honestly, and I felt I could discuss anything with him. I am very happy with him and would recommend him to all. Thanks Dr. Regan.
