Central California Bariatric Surgery Bariatric Center
I have all confidence in my surgeon and his PA. I did not see much of him before surgery except for the seminar and right before surgery. He was recommended to me by a few friends and then I did some research on my own. The people in his office are great and do everything they can to make this process a positive one.
Dr. Coirin was very friendly. My contact with him was VERY limited. I first shook his hand an the gurney on the way to the O.R. However, he seems to have done remarkable work, my post-op recovery has been a breeze, I was released from the hospital on the third day (surgery was Friday, was released on Sunday). So in the matter of the highest importance, quality of work, Dr. Coirin can't be beat.
I didn't meet Dr. Coates until I was in the surgery room. The support staff at Dr. Coates' office is great. They have great follow up programs and loads of support groups. I feel very comfortable with them and confidence in their care for me.
I think that surgical compentence and bedside manner are both very important.
I have not met with my surgeon yet, but I did meet the PA. I was really impressed with him. He gave me the oportunity to ask as many questions as I wanted to without feeling like he was in a hurry like most Doctors do. I left there feeling good and felt very imformed.
The first time I met Dr. Coates was in the OR and again on the day of discharge. His PA was the primary care giver after surgery. I went into this knowing this was how he did things so it wasn't a suprise to me. My main concern was that he be a good surgeon. It would have been nice to have formed a patient/docter relationship though. I think that every one that is treated by Dr. Coates has to be aware of his practice. He was very pleasant the 2 times I did get to see him. My after care has been by a compitent office PA, Daryl.
Dr. Coirin was awesome- very soft...gentle. The bruises were from the nurses and their blood-thinning belly shots! THANK God that the shots don't hurt!
He answered all of my questions, and was full of information.
His office staff is really great- they helped so much, and were not bothered (well, at least that they said to us!) by my husband's many, many questions, which were also my questions!
Everyone was sure to let me know the risks, and they have a follow-up program and support groups... I do live a couple hours away, so I might attend more groups in my area- but still come down for special speaker ones...like plastic surgery- even though right now I don't care if my body hangs to the floor- I will roll it up and tuck it in my britches before I want to share another hospital room with a NUT!
I would suggest Dr. Coirin to everyone- he has a wonderful staff that is very careful to make sure you are ready- and also requires a Psych (sp?... shrink) to evaluate you. He covers his bases, and that is good for me!
I finally met Dr. Coates about 30 mins. before my surgery. He came out to talk with me and my family. He seemed nice. I asked him some questions and he gave me answers. He did come and check on me the next day to see how I was. He told me that he had second thoughts about my surgery because I had freaked out big time a couple days before the surgery. To me this says that he is not all about the money and that he had my best interest at heart. He knew that I was nervous and scared because I had never been in the hospital before. Everything went great and I feel that he is very competent at what he does!!!
I like him. I haven't had my surgery yet as i have to lose weight first and preliminary testing. I liked the staff.
Well, it is over a year and i had my surgery and some complications and Dr. Coirin was right there taking care of me and the hospital staff was great as well. His office does emphasize aftercare. The risks were explained to me. He is definately a competant surgeon and has a great bedside manner and is easy to talk to.
