Dr. Fullum is a very skilled plain talking, gentle man who is very easy to work with and his staff is top notch. I was an informed and comfortable patient in his hands. I had no complications after surgery and his follow up has been great thus far

I am so glad that my primary care physician referred me to Dr. Tran and the Weight Management Team at Bridgeport Hospital in December 2003. Its a pleasure to be one of his patients.

Dr. Tran is a competent, skilled and capable surgeon with excellent bed side manner. I felt very comfortable with him from day one. I never doubted his abilities as a surgeon at all. Trust me, he knows his stuff regarding Bariatric Surgery.

In fact, the whole Weight Management Team from Bridgeport Hospital (Laurie Jordan, Dr. Morgan, Dr. Scherzer, and the sleep center staff were all kind and considerate while I was preparing for the WLS (Weight Loss surgery).

While I was pre-op I participated in the monthly support group. Now I'm post-op and I will continue this participation. This way, I continually learn and grow regarding health care for my survival.

My journey truly begins now....

My Surgeon was a vey caring person after he would complete a surgery with some one a head of me he would come in my room and ask me did I have any questions, and he would comfort me so i wouldn't be scared . the staff was great and very helpful with any question when I couldn't speak with the doctor I just Love the whole staff.after I had my surgery he made sure I knew everything I had to go through as far as the discomfort and the learning to eat again like a normal person His nutrisonist were very caring and helping people after I left the hospital they gave me a number to call them any time day are nigh If i had question about the type of food to eat. he addresed all the does and don't before and after I left the hospital and he also gave me plenty of reading material to read over . but above it all he was a very, very good surgeon and on a scale of 1-10 I would rate him 10+ because he putsw his all into everything and all of his patients.
P.S. the only thing I did not like about him was he was to understand and that made me scared before surgery.

I heard of Dr. Fullum through a coworker who had surgery a year ago. I got a good impression of him at the support group meeting. They really answer alot of questions even though its in a forum.

I had surgery on Feb 6, 2004 with Dr. Fullum. I really like him. He just seems to be very sincere and kind. I would recommend him stronlgy to anyone.

I first met Dr. fullum at one of his seminars at Providence. I was there to support my sister who was preparing to have wls. Dr. Fullum performed her surgery. She highly recommended him to me when I decided to have the surgery. I was impressed by his willingness to answer any and all questions his audience had concerning wls. He discusssed every aspect of the wls including the risks. His staff is wonderful and friendly as well. I really would recommend Dr. Fullum to anyone considering having wls.

Professional, efficient and communicative. I have no complaints or misgivings about this process or the procedure! He has been instrumental in literally saving my life. His pre-op program is extensive, provides access to numerous resources, his staff if professional and capable, the hospitals he works from Providence in DC and Washington Adventist in Maryland are above-average institutions.

I had my intial consult with Dr. Fullums office on October 20, 2003. I did not meet him, however, I met another doctor on his staff. The office staff is wonderful. They were very informative and very supportive.

I later that evening went to the support group meeting/ information session. I, at that time, got to meet Dr. Fullum. I was very impressed. He has an impressive resume and is charsimatic and concerned. I have seen few doctors who seem to care for patients well-being, physically, and spiritually, like he does.

I was moveover impressed that he is fellow Howard-ite ! H. U. ! (Howard University)

He was on the board at Yale as well and is very involved on the board at Providence Hospital. He is head of the board of surgeons there and is Department Head of Bariatric, General, Laparoscopic, and Robotic surgery.

I felt comfortable with Dr. Fullum and his staff, mainly because of their extensive background in this field. Dr. Fullum is a also a black doctor, which means he and his staff are very knowledgeable about the aspects of this surgery as it relates to black people. This was important to me. Every ethnic group has differing makeups when it comes to skin, genetic illnesses, etc.. I wanted someone who would understand that as well as be able to prescribe a post surgery diet that includes foods that are relative to what blacks love to eat.

Dr. Fullum was very knowledgeble about post operative recovery, and he has a one year structured aftercare program that all patients are required to participate in, or he will not do the surgery.

He addresses all of the risks and even has post-op patients come to the sessions to express their views and share their stories..

I would definitely rate Dr. Fullum as top rate.

Two friends of mine had the durgery with him about two months ago and even two days after surgery were up cleaning house and out at the store. They both had no real pain. No side effects, except the normal feeling a bit nauseated from drinking too much water or liquids. They both are now able to eat most foods, although dairy causes some discomfort as does meat...

I am excited about this surgery and getting myself back on a road to healthy living.

Dr. Tran was not at all intimidating and very informed. The only thing that changed was the admiration that has grown for Dr. Tran. Dr. Tran's staff is very friendly and educated. The only negative comment I have is that on the day of my surgery, my Mother and Brother were in the waiting room and were told my surgery that was supposed to start at 7:30 am. My surgery did not start on time and my family was not informed at all. They were waiting for about 5 hours before anyone even approached them about my condition. Very scary for my family So, my advice to you is before they roll you in - you make it clear to them to advise your family if there are any delays or hiccups to cause the surgery to run longer. Aftercare is emphasized greatly. There is a structured aftercare program that includes followup visits, followup bloodwork and support group meetings. Dr Tran went over the risks before surgery where I was able to understand. Overall, wonderful doctor. Dr Tran is definitely surgically competent and has a wonderful bedside manner.
