The first time I met Dr. Shina was on March 6, at my seminar. I was very impressed with him he was informative, very knowledgable, and supportive, He explained all the pros and cons of wls. I have a sister and cousin who also sees Dr. Shina so I already knew he was the Dr. for me. Love him and his staffrncharlotte kerr
My first impression was in October, to be honest i was not inpressed at all, so i went to other seminars. Today 1-23-07 i went back for a second try with Dr.Shina, today my opinion changed, he was funny and spent lots of time with us today. rnHis staff is wonderful, Jamie (a friend of mine) and Holly go beyond nice.
My first impression: He knew what he was talking about. rnOver time: I really liked him, because he knows what he is doing and he is down to earth.rnNothing negative at all.
My surgeon is Dr. Shina. I was and still am completly impressed with Dr. Shina. He is a no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is doctor, and I truly appreciate that from him. If my impression of Dr. shina has changed over time, it is only for the better. The office staff is quite busy. Holly is the epitomy of what a nurse should be. Gracious, caring, and highly proficient at what she does. I had a few kinks dealing with the office staff, but that was at the very beginning, and these concerns were quickly rectified.rnrnFuture patients should know that Dr. Shina is very blunt, he is not a doctor who is going to coddle you, but he does CARE for you, and take care of you. rnrnAftercare is very important to Dr. Shina. He repeats that WLS is a tool, and you must use the tool for it to work, and you know how to use the tool, for it to work to its maximum benefit. He drills in the fact that once you are a WLS patient, you are forever a WLS patient, and follow up care is necessary for the rest of yoru life! He highly encourages support groups and the like, which are offered through the hospital that he is associated with. rnrnDr. Shina addresses the risks of surgery extensively, as well as what he does to hlep to minimize the risks, and what he expects the patient to do, also. rnrnOver all, I would rate Dr. Shina a 10 on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best!). For me, and my husband, we both think that Dr. Shina is the real deal. No fluff no muss, but a world-class doctor!rnrnThank you Dr. Shina, for helping me discover what life shoudl really be like!
Mark ShinarnDr. Shina presented himself with confidence at the WLS seminar, which gave me an excellent first impression of him. His staff distributed packet of information about the surgery. Included in the packet was a detailed description of everything that can go wrong as a result of the surgery. Dr. Shina was also very thorough about explaining all of the risks. He seems very straightforward and honest.
My first impression of Dr. Shina I felt as though he knew what he was talking about and would be a competent surgeon. Overtime I realized he was more than competent but he cared about his patients. We weren't just another dollar sign to him but we were humans to him. As for his staff, they are very friendly and helpful every time I have to call or come in, which at first seemed like everyday, they never seemed bothered by me. I liked the hospital he used the least about him, but he made up for where the hospital lacked. Other patients should not be afraid to ask him anything, he is open and honest on every fact about the surgery he does for you. The right weigh program is great too however I use one that is closer to my home. They will still answer my questions if they arise. I must say that I would rate him as an outstanding doctor and surgeon. His competence is a 10 and his bedside manner is a 12! I can honestly say for the first time in my life that I didn't feel as though I was being cared for in a rush. I can say no real negative about the care I have received from this doctor except that i wished he would be available at a different hospital.
My surgeon was great. He is a strict task master and required me to meet with several specialist to provide him a complete picture of my Cardiac, Psychiatric, Pulomonalry and Vascular condition before he would agree to perorm my surgery. He expects his patients to listen to and comply with his recomendations both before and after surgery, but has always been willing to answer my questions or concerns. He was very open about the risk of the surgery and even gave me the option of changing my mind on the day of surgery. He expects his patients to participate in the support group meetings to improve the quality of our lives both before and after surgery. I would rate him among the best in the country in his surgical competence, skills and experience.
My ddddDr. Shina is the best, not only by my word's but he is known to be the number 1 man all over the state's. The staff is great I think the unfriendly one got fired or quiet. He and his staff or true ,even his wife work's there how sweet can that be.If you research his name than you can see way he is the one.The after care program is so awsome that I can't waite ro go. He will tell it like it is. He will even decuss his patient or patient's thay did not make it. he put's the b in bedside manners. I know I have choosen the right man for the wls. I choose him not for what he can do ,but because what he will do if you run into some trouble on the table.
