When I first walked into Celio Burrowes office, I did not know what to expect. The office itself seemed a little disheveled. This made me a little nervous. I found out later that they are redoing the office, so I might have just seen it in a transitionary phase. Dr. Burrowes himself was nice. He seemed very patient and low key. He answered all my questions, though I wish that I was better prepared and that I had asked more questions than I did. I'm hoping I will be better prepared next time I meet him. I will then be in a better position to evaluate the whole experience. The office staff have been very nice. Even when I called a million times a week, they never lost patience with me. They were always polite and tried to answer any questions I had. It is very difficult to get through to the office. Very often I got a machine. This, at times, was very frustrating. Overall, so far, my experience has been very positive.
DR. BURROWES WAS VERY CONCISE AND KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT. HE TOOK THE TIME TO EXPLAIN ALL 6 SURGICAL WEIGHT LOSS PROCEDURES TO ME AND HE ANSWERED EVERY QUESTION I HAD. HE ADDRESSED THE RISKS OF THE SURGERY WITHOUT LEAVING ANYTHING OUT INCLUDING THE POSSIBILITY OF DEATH. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE.
THE OFFICE STAFF WAS VERY NICE AND INFOMATIVE. THEY TREATED ME VERY WELL FROM THE FRONT DESK ALL THE WAY TO THE BACK.

Dr. Burrowes came highly recommended to me and when I met him he was everything I expected. I found him to be very pleasant, caring and thorough. If I had a single negative comment about him it would be that he does not get his letters out to insurance companies in a timely manner. I wish time permitted him to dictate those letters at the close of each day while the patient is "fresh" in his mind. I do respect that he is a very busy surgeon.
With the exception of one young lady, I found his staff to be less than friendly and welcoming...it was clear to me that it was just a job to them and I was just a number. I have made many f/u calls to the office trying to reach someone to update me and answer a question but I am never called back. Dr. Burrowes is an excellent surgeon and he deserves no less than a caring staff to welcome and to f/u with his patients needs. Could it be that they are just toooooo busy to give the TLC that I had hoped?? This is just my opinion from only one visit to his office and hope next time I go in I will feel more welcome.
Dr. Burrowes does talk some about aftercare and encourages his patients to attend his WLS meetings to become thoroughly knowledgable about all the details of this surgery. He stresses to his patients about the seriousness of this surgery and goes over potential problems one might encounter during and following surgery.
I have only met Dr. B. one time so until I have reason to think otherwise I would rate him a 10 on a scale of 1-10.
Surgical competence is a must...good bedside manner is a plus.
dr. burrowes seems very nice. his staff was very nice as well he seemed in a hurry always ask questions while you are there i think he is going to be a wonderful dr for me my private dr suggested him so i trust her. i am excited about having him as my surgeon.
I have not yet met dr. burrowes, but I hear he is wounderful. Sharon at the office has been MOST helpful. She even gave me her cell phone number!! I did not like that I have to waite like 2 months to get in but...I guess that means he is well known. And also gives me more time for reshearch.
My first impression of Dr. Burrowes was
that he is very knowledgeable and kind.
He did not hold any punches (so to speak)
as far as risk (do not fear). He clearly stated that this is only a tool, and yet it
will be a lifestyle change, but for the better.
His staff was fantastic, no waiting at all.
He does have a structured aftercare program

I thought Dr Burrowes was really quiet, but a nice person. He emphasized that this surgery is a tool for weight lose not a diet. It should be taken very seriously because it is permanant. As Time went on I liked him even more. I think his staff was over stressed because of the large influx of patients, but I liked them alot. There was nothing that I did not like about Dr. Burrowes. Future patients should know that he does not take this surgery lightly. He encouraged the use of multivitemins, Protein shakes and a good meal plan that limited the intake of carbs. He has also arranged with Lee Haney to have one of his trainer's work with patients that are interested in the full lifestyle change, that included exercise. Any questions that you had about potential risks he addressed and you also watched a video of the whole procedure. I would rate Dr. Burrowes an excellent doctor. His Competence and bedside manner are great.
