When me and my mother went to have the first initial visit with Dr. Burrowes he seemed slow, but the more we all talked the more I realized he knew his stuff and I appreciated the time he took to answer all our questions and he made me feel comfortable. I know I made the right decision to choose Dr. Burrowes.

The staff were very helpful and friendly.

My first impression is that he was very professional and very comfortable to be around. The office staff was wonderful! I feel very confident in my decision to use him! Dr. Burrowes is very matter-of-fact, but is wanting to make sure the paitent is in full understanding of what he's there to do!

I had to change doctors because by the time I changed insurance companies, Dr. Duncan was no longer taking patients over 350 pounds. I was at 386.
Dr. Burrowes was suggested to me and I made an appointment to see him. I'm glad I did, he's one of the best. I've had no complications of any kind from my surgery and I was and am very pleased with the care that's been given to me by Dr. Burrowes and his staff in the office as well as in the hospital.
He answered all my questions and listened to me and paid attention to my statements no matter how foolish I thought they may have been.
My surgery was done on August 26th, 2003 and
to date I've gone from 386 to 274. I had an open RNY and my scar is only about 4 inches long.

I found Dr. B to be a very caring man. He is very active not only in the Health care side of WLS but he is also very active in the political word. As he lobbies to get everyone the health care we need so badly.
His office staff are very nice but very busy. I know they are tired of me calling them but they handled everything for me. Even though they must have gotten sick of me calling they still were ever diligent about getting all the i's dotted and the t's crossed. Dr. B and his office have my vote of confidence. I searched for almost a year before I decided on Dr. B and he has not let me down. Dr. B and his office are very much into after care and keeping in touch with there patients, you will see this while in the office of all the photo albums that are in every room, I think. If there is anything about Dr. B that is negitive it would be that he is not quick with the humor, but he can get there. I will add more later.

I thought Dr Burrowes was really quiet, but a nice person. He emphasized that this surgery is a tool for weight lose not a diet. It should be taken very seriously because it is permanant. As Time went on I liked him even more. I think his staff was over stressed because of the large influx of patients, but I liked them alot. There was nothing that I did not like about Dr. Burrowes. Future patients should know that he does not take this surgery lightly. He encouraged the use of multivitemins, Protein shakes and a good meal plan that limited the intake of carbs. He has also arranged with Lee Haney to have one of his trainer's work with patients that are interested in the full lifestyle change, that included exercise. Any questions that you had about potential risks he addressed and you also watched a video of the whole procedure. I would rate Dr. Burrowes an excellent doctor. His Competence and bedside manner are great.

Dr. Burrowes seems to be highly competent and very succinct. He makes me feel very confident in his abilities. I appreciate his taking the time to answer all of my questions.

When I first met with Dr. Burrowes, I thought he was very informative and took the time to answer all of my questions. I feel his staff should return phone calls as soon as possible especially when the surgery date is very near. I found his staff to be very helpful after my surgery. I had trouble getting my paperwork completed in a timely matter. I found Dr. Burrowes' staff to be very helpful during my post-op visits. My post-op visit, the dr. clearly stated my limitations and pointed out what foods I should consume and the foods to avoid.

His behavior during the first consultation led me to believe he was not only highly qualified to provide me with the best care, but that he was interested in my individual preferences and questions. As an attorney, I'm a pretty hard sell and won't tolerate BS answers or a sales pitch.

Dr. Burrowes has a professional demeanor which could be interpreted as reserved or cool. However, he was more than patient with me and my extensive questions. I had been "surgeon shopping" for a while and let him know this. He indicated that he was glad that I was so educated and encouraged me to continue my efforts to make educated decisions about my surgery. As he explained the Fobi pouch and his expertise in this area, I was impressed at the "solid construction" that it seemed to offer.

The office staff was friendly and professional. While they did seem very busy, they were on top of things enough that I didn't feel rushed or ignored.

I really liked that he had been active in drafting and promoting antidiscrimination legislation in Georgia to require that insurance companies cover bariatric surgery. This told me that he has a social conscience and hasn't simply isolated himself from the real world that his patients have to endure regularly.

UPDATE: Dr. Burrowes takes quite a while to do his insurance referral letters. This is holding up getting BCBS the info they need to approve me for surgery. So I hope this isn't the result of him being swamped with too many patients. On the other hand, another patient told me that he spends a great deal of time on the cover letter to the ins co in order to be sure we are approved on the first shot (hers was 20 pages long). I can "stomach" that explanation a little better (pun intended).

DR.BURROWES ANSWERED ALL OF MY QUESTIONS. HE IS A VERY SERIOUS PERSON AND EXPLAINED THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY. MY IMPRESSION HASN'T CHANGED.MOST OF THE STAFF IS VERY POLITE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 1 PERSON. I HAVE ONLY MET WITH THIS DOCTOR ONCE SO I CAN'T OFFER ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. I HAVE ONLY HEARD GREAT THINGS ABOUT HIM. HIS OFFICE STAFF IS VERY BUSY AND SOMETIMES IT TAKES 2 DAYS FOR THEM TO GET BACK TO YOU ON YOUR QUESTIONS. YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT. THE WAIT FOR MY CONSULTATION WAS EXTREMELY LONG BUT WELL WORTH IT. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS SINCE NOV.2002. MY SURGERY DATE IS 8-8-2003.

My first impression of Dr. Burrowes is he is really knowledgable and up front.
