Celio O. Burrowes M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center
I can not believe how wonderful Dr. Burrowes and his staff are. Kathering is a pistol! She pushed my insurance company to the max! Marilyn is so sweet when she answers the phones and schedules your appointments. Forgive me for not remembering her name but the other lady is awesome too! She prepares all the paperwork for the surgery, she scheduled all my out patient testing in record time and with no complaints. They are all awesome in that office!rnDr Burrowes, is so thourough and is so concerned with my health and my success with WLS. He is so knowledgeable about so many surgeries and he was not scared to share the info with me to ensure I picked the right surgery for me. I would recommend Dr Burrowes and his staff to all of my friends. In fact I have 2 other friends that are now his patients. i rate him a 9+ overall!
Dr. Capehart was very informative. I didn't have many questions from the beginning because of all the research over the past two years that I've done. Any other questions that I may have had she answered them right off during the overview of the surgery. I was very comfortable with her and would recommend her to anyone. My date hasn't been set yet...waiting on reply fron UNHC.. my surgery was denied last year by UNHC.....rn I have since move to Atlanta and went to Dr. Burrowes......He was very polite and very patient answering any questions that i had during the visit. I was approved after my 1st appeal...My surgery date is March 26, 2007

Dr Burrowes is an awesome man.. He is very straight foward but very caring too.. His staff is very caring and always there to answer your questions.. I would rate Dr Burrowes a 10.. He saved my life earlier this year.. I am almost 2 years post op.. I had some problems about a year ago and he saved my life..
I had my first consultation with Dr. Burrowes on February 5, 2002. I was so excited after having to wait three(3) months to get an appointment. His office staff was so wonderful and friendly. During my office visit, they took pictures, discussed their survey and had me watch a live video of the open RNY procedure. They also had several photo albums of previous patients with their before and after photos. This was very entertaining and inspirational. Finally, after about four hours, Dr. Burrowes came into my room and introduced himself. He started off by telling me about himself and where he studied and how long he's been in this field. He then asked questions about me and my health problems and the experiences I've been through battling my weight. He went over the types of surgery that are available and then he detailed the surgery that he would perform and why he only perform two out of the ones we discussed. He also discussed how this surgery should be used as mean to changing the bad eating habits that I've been experiencing in the past. He also discussed the risks of the surgery and told me that I had time to think about if this is what I really wanted to do. He encourgaged me to do more research and talk to many different people to get a variety of opinions. Dr. Burrowes was very patient and took his time explaining the procedure (before and aftercare). On a scale of one to ten. HE GETS A TEN, so far!rnrnSurgeon Update as of October 2006:rnrnI still have much love and respect for my surgeon. He has continued to advise me on the best ways to get the most out of my tool. He, his staff and the bypass support group continues to operate with lots of love, support, and professionalism. There is only one thing that I would stress that he change and that's not doing his bypass procedures Open. Overall he get's a TEN!!rnrn
Dr. Burrowes is a very smart man. He came right into the office and got to the point. He made me feel very safe in his care, because he know what he was talking about. You can't beat his staff. When they said they would call back, they did. when they said they would check something out, they did. This matters to me most because, pre-op is a very stressful time in the process, and it is just good to have some certainties.
My first impression of him was that he was kind, serious, and passionate about his work. His appearance is very neat and clean. He was no pressure and easy to talk with. His bedside manner was good. He checked on me everyday. His staff checked on me immediaely upon my release for a few days. His angels have chcked on me EVERYDAY since surgery. She even visited me in the hospital. My impression of him changed for the better. I love my surgeon. His office is warm and comfortable. It's small, but cozy. His staff are all nice, sweet ladies. Some have their ways, but are still sweet and mean well. They are very professional with a smile. What I like least about Dr. Burrowes is that he is married. Future patients should know that Dr. Burrowes is very confident in his work and puts you at ease. He knows what he is doing and can answer every question you throw at him. Dr. Burrowes takes after care SERIOUSLY. So much so, that he makes you sign a contract to continue with support group meetings and all follow-ups and labs as needed, before surgery. He has a strctured aftercare program which also includes your PCP. He was very forward about the risks of surgery. He did not talk scientifically, but in layman's terms and slowly. He makes sure you omprehend his answer before moving on. Dr. Burrowes is a 10. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are great. rnrnSo far, I can truly say that I have nothing negative to say.
Dr. Burrowes is great. !!!
My husband & I both had the RNY and he was really good at explaining everything and checking on us after surgery. My husband had a blood clot and some complications after surgry, but Dr Burrowes fixed him up and we are both doing fine now. I would recommend him to anybody.
My first impression of Dr. Burrowes is that he was very reserved. His office staff was very nice. Overall I would rate him as VERY GOOD surgeon.
My first impression of Dr. Burrowes was a very positive one. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He took a lot of time with me and my husband explaining the risks and rewards of this surgery. I opted for the Fobi Pouch. I'm post-op 6 weeks. Dr. Burrowes has been very caring and concerned about me as a patient. He has a support person that called me every night to check on my progress and to offer advice when I needed it. His office staff was always professional. On a scale of 1 thru 10, I would rate Dr. Burrowes a 10.
