Cahaba Valley Surgical Group, PC Bariatric Center
I REALLY LIKED HIM, FOUND HIN TO BE VERY HIGHLY RECOMENDED.LIKED HIM EVEN MORE AS TIME WENT ON .THE OFFICE STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL,DID NOT MIND MY QUESTIONS.I DID NOT FIND ANYTHING I DID NOT LIKE.THAT HE IS A VERY GOOD DR AND THAT HE HAD MY INTEREST AT HEART.HE REALLY STRESSES AFTERCARE. NOW I GO BACK IN 6 MTHS, BUT IF I HAVE ANY OROBLEMS I SHOULD NOT HESITATE TO CALL HIS OFFICE.YES. HE HAD ME AS WELL AS MY HUSBAND WATCH A VIDEO THEN HE CAME IN AND EXPLAINED STEP BY STEP WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO. HE TOLD ME TO EXPLAIN TO MY FAMILY THAT I WOULD DEFFINETLY BE IN INTENSIVE CARE, BECAUSE I HAD SLEEP APNEA.SO THAT THEY WOULD KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT.HE TOLD OF ALL THE RISK FACTORS AND THAT HE WOULD TRY LAPROCOPY BUT MIGHT HAVE TO CUT BUT WOULD NOT KNOW FOR SURE TILL HE WAS IN THERE. I WOULD DEFFINATELY GIVE HIM A 10. I DEFFINETLY THINK BOTH.
DR Stahl seem to be a very kind, informative, to the point, down to earth man, the office staff seem to be very kind, thoughful, and helpful. As of yet,I found nothing that I disliked about Dr.Stahl. Future patients should know that Dr. Stahl is a person that gives all the info that is possibleand takes his timedoing so, he is not in a hurry, answers all your questions, but he is very adamnat about his patients understanding the risks involving this type of surgery or any type of surgery for that matter. He addresses aftercare and again answers all the questions that you have concerning before and aftercare, he stresses that you mustfollow instructions after the surgery. So far I would give Dr.Stahl a rating1-10, a 10, he is puncual, and kind. I would say that Dr. Stahl has both, a pleasing bedside manner and surgical competence, which both were demostrated
Very impressed with Dr. Gardner,,very young but knowledgeable very personable. Spen t lots of time with me. not an in and out visit he sat down and talked with me at length and drew pictures to help me understand
Office staff pretty normal not overly helpful but kind and to the point
I didn't not like any thing
He emphasizes after care a lot! he ask you to be followed even if you have no complications and everything goes well
I am not sure about the structure, not that far into the process yet
Very much so, all the possibilities of risks at length
I would rate him an 8 ask me again after this is all over!!
Surgical competence is of the utmost but a bedside manner calms the mind after the work with the body is done
Dr. Gardner was great from the time I met him, I researched him before I set up the appointment. Then the first thing he did was tell me alot about himself. His office staff is great especially Susie White, she has been great!!
We discusses all aspects of the surgery both good and bad. I do not think he has a structured aftercare program such as support groups but there is constant follow ups and he assures that if there is any questions feel free to contact him or the office.
Very knowledgable. A fountain of information I was looking for. He took the time to explain everything in detail. I came away happy that I had selected him as my surgeon. My impression of Dr. Gardner has not changed...will let you know AFTER surgery! His office staff has been very helpful and courteous. We all can appreciate that. He emphasized every phase of surgery and recovery. And the road ahead which I hope leads to success. As far as the risks of the surgery he didn't sugar coat anything when telling me of the risks. I liked that he was very upfront with me in every detail. I would highly recommend Dr. Gardner thus far.
The most important thing though is surgical competence. I don't want a real nice guy that has butterfingers. YIKES! I want someone above all that is very knowledgable in their field. A good bedside is just a plus.
I have only met Dr Rex Sherer once but he was a ver kind and christian man who really appeared to be concerned about his patients and their welfare. I have talked with others who have had surgery performed by him and they all had great success. I really loved the fact that he attributes his wonderful success rate to God because He is really the one in control with all of this. I don't have anything negative to add at this point except it is really frustrating dealing with the insuarance aspects but his staff was gracious even though i called a million times.
Dr. Gardner was very nice, although very rushed. I waited over an hour and a half before seeing him. They were extremely backed up that day. They took me back and weighed me, took my pre-op picture, then put me in a small room where I watched a 15-minute video about the surgery. Afterwards, I was escorted back to the exam room where Dr. Gardner spoke to me for over 45 mins. He made sure he answered all my questions as thoroughly as possible. Although he was wonderful with all my surgery questions, he was quite vague about aftercare. I got the impression that he believes aftercare is what you make of it, which is fine with me. The staff is wonderful, although I found out they only send out the pre-certification requests to insurance once a week. I was seen on a Thursday and they still hadn't sent out my paperwork the next Wednesday when I called to check. Although he is not the most personal/friendly doctor I have ever met, he does have a good bedside manner, and I really feel his surgical competence is above average. One thing to know about Dr. Gardner. He will not operate on anyone with co-morbidities. Dr. Gardner admitted that this was due to his own preference because people without co-morbidities typically have a better success rate. All in all I would recommend Dr. Gardner.
Enjoyed the online site that is provided by Dr Sherer at Cahaba Valley Surgical group and being able to download the neccessary forms to fill out and get the process underway. After filling out the forms and sending them in, I got a prompt reponse and was able to get a date of a appointment with no problem. After meeting Dr Sherer's staff, I was pleased with the great reception I received and the process of getting my information. Chatting with Dr. Sherer was very informative and answered a lot of my questions that I had at that time. It was good and educational to watch a video of the procedures of the surgery and risks of it. I would rate Dr Sherer and his staff at the highest level of working with me as possible.
My recommendation to any one meeting Dr. Sherer is to download the necessary forms to set up a appointment. Spend time with filling these out and go back over them and check them again. Get a small ringed notebook or diary and write down all the questions that you want to know about when you meet with Dr. Sherer and then after meeting him, you will have more questions. This will give you a great resource to look back at and you can put notes in it when you meet with the Dr. Find out what you need to be prepared for before, during and after hospital stay. Then what follow up procedures is needed after that point. Then the biggest thing is getting a good daytime and afterhours numbers for Dr. Sherer, just encase you have problems after the surgery. Dr. Sherer's staff and him is there for you.
