Cahaba Valley Surgical Group, PC Bariatric Center
I was very impressed with Dr. Stahl. He made
me feel comfortable. He was very patient with
me and answered all of my questions. My surgery
went great. It took about 3 hours. I was only
in the hospital (Shelby Baptist Hospital) 3 days.
The nursing staff was excellent. They took care
of all my needs and didn't make me wait for a
thing. My pain was controlled with Morphine and
Taradol. I also had several Heparine shots to
prevent blood clots. I would recommend Dr. Stahl
and the hospital he uses to anyone.
I was very impressed with Dr. Stahl. I found him to be well informed and very approachable. He explained the surgery in detail. He answered all my questions in an honest and upfront way. He discussed the aftercare with me and explained that I would have to be followed carefully. Dr. Stahl explained the risks and possible complications of the surgery. The office staff was very pleasant and was ready to help me in any way. Jan and the nurse were especially nice. My mother went to the appointment with me. She had great reservations about the surgery and did not want me to have it. However, after talking to Dr. Stahl she now feels that the surgery will be beneficial for me.
03/30/2000 - I just want to say a few words about Jan (the insurance lady). I have called the office several times over the last months and each and every time that I called, she has been extremely nice and helpful. Today was no exception! I called her this morning and asked her to call the insurance company and ask them to fax over my approval letter. Without any hesitation, she made the call and was back with me within an hour or so and scheduled my surgery. All I can say is "Thanks Jan for being a caring person".
I'm meeting Dr. Stahl 1-31-200. His office staff (over the phone) have been wonderful and helpful. I've even talked to his nurse Jan, who seems nice. We'll see what it's like in person.
2-5-2000: I met Dr. Stahl Monday 1-31. He was very compassionate and seemed very caring. He explained in detail the surgery, and gave me all the time i needed to ask questions. He was even honest enough to tell me that he has had a aptient to die after the surgery.(We all know that is one of the risks)I didn't get to speak to Jan in person, but she will be the one who sends my request to the insurance review board....today :o) So, now it's up to the insurance company from here. (pray)
I really think Dr. Stahl if a very good Doctor. He is very patient in answering all of your questions and I think he did a great job. The staff is usually very nice also. Especially his nurse. The aftercare I am receiving has been very helpful. They are always there if you have any questions. Overall I think Dr. Stahl and his staff is great!!
10/21/99 dr. stahl is very knowlegable. he apparently keeps his learning "up to date".
the more i talked w/him the more at ease i felt. he is not one of those docs. who, look at you funny when you know some medical terminolgy other than, the word "surgery".
have not had my surgery, yet. i will update as soon as possible.
01/18/00 o.k.....i am now post-op~ he makes a PRETTY and nice and small (8 inch) STRAIGHT line....with no staples or outside stiches!!!!! :-) he is very caring and understanding!
I liked him.
He seemed competent.
Office staff was supportive and friendly.
Before any kind of surgery, check out his track record first.
He has no structured after care program that I know of
He did address the risks of surgery - he said only 1% don't make it.
competent
I think it would be better to have BOTH surgical competetence AND bedside manner.
I just had my first office visit with Dr. Stahl 11/16/99. The women in the front office weren't that friendly, but the nurse was nice. Dr. Stahl was very nice and answered all my questions. I had a good feeling about him when I left. I really want to talk with any of you who have had the surgery already. What was your impression of Dr. Stahl AFTER the surgery?
My first visit with Dr. Stahl was last Wednesday (October 20, 1999) and I was very impressed. My mom had severe reservations about my having this surgery, but by the time we left, she was crying and holding her hands up praising God for leading us to this surgeon. He was very patient and described everything in detail before asking if we had any questions. I had done my homework and had plenty of questions (about 4 pages)and Dr. Stahl answered them all. It took me about 45 minutes to go over all of my questions, and he never even batted an eye. He was very kind and very confident. His office staff did not impress me much, but it was only my first visit. His nurse, however was very sweet. I would say that Dr. Stahl is about an 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. I couldn't be happier that I found him so close to home (about 70 miles).
