Dr. Foote is very kind and personable. I felt comfortable with him right from the start. He explained the risks and the proceedure of the surgery. By the end of my conversation, I was ready for him to do the surgery that day :-) All the office staff/nurses that I came in contact with made me feel at home.
Very friendly and informative answered all questions and took time with me. My impression has not changed Dr. Schram is very caring and takes the time to answer any questions you might have. The office staff ar equally friendly and willing to spend time with you and they make you feel very comfortable. There wasn't anything about Dr. Schram that I didn't like:They should know that he takes the time to sit and discuss any questions or concerns you might have about the surgery or after the surgery:You go back at 3 weeks 6 weeks then 3 months and then every year after: And anytime you have any concerns you just call his office and they are willing to get you in for an appointment or address any concerns you might have:Yes they have structured aftercare:He tells you the risk of having the surgery and lets you decide if you want to go ahead with the surgery:Excellent I wouldn't want anyone other than Dr. Schram for my surgery:Both is FANTASTIC.
My first impression of Dr. Foote was that he was very young. Granted he was still older than me (I was 20 at the time) but it was younger than i was used to for a surgeon. He either has had this issue come up before or sensed by anxiety and told me all that he had done, from schooling to the number of surgeries that he had perfomed. He also gave me the option of switching surgeons if I was still uncomfortable. Dr. Foote was extremely patient with all my questions, and compassionate during my fears. I would recomment Dr. Foote to anyone wanting to have the surgery.
My first impression of Dr. Foote was very good. He was very responsive to all of my questions, and explained everything to me very patiently. He seems very compationate. Made me feel very comfortable. The office staff is friendly, but very busy. The only problem I have is trying to call the office for general stuff, like making appointments. It's very difficult to get through. My only concern is that he looked so young, and stated he has only been performing the surgery for a few years. I was comforted to know that he is supervised by Dr. Baker, who has a longer history with this surgery. Also, he has performed over 300 surgeries. Aftercare is strongly emphasized, and there is a structured program to follow. He addressed the risks of surgery in detail. Overall I would rate him a superior Doctor. I am impressed with both his surgical competence and his bedside manner.
The first impression that I had of Dr. foote was that he had a caring alook on his face. He took ther time to go over all my records that were sent to him by my primary shysician and the others that were sent to him. He was right up front on telling me that I was a canidate for the surgery. His office is very big and some of them are very snooty and think they are better than you, but overall he has a very good staff that is competent and helpful. The future patients should know that he takes time with you and answers all questions that you have. His whole office thinks that after care is very important and that you are required to have it. he went through the surgery procedure by drawing a picture of it and explaining eadh step he will be taking in the surgery. He also explained the risks of the surgery and that if he couldn't do the LAp procedure he would have to do the open one. Wiht all the health problems I have he explained that he would be putting a feeding tube in me so that I could have all my meds until they could regulate them or ween me off them. I would rate him and his office as excellent and would recommend him to any one that needs a surgeon and the surgery. I don't know, about his bedside manner, but if it's anything like his office manner then he will be an excellant doctor. The surgical priocedure isn' one that I can comment on until after I have surgery
My first impression of Dr. Foote was thathe is so young! My impression didn't change ....he is still young, but VERY capable. I felt very at ease with him and his experience. His office staff is just like any other....very busy most days and trying to accommodate everyone nicely! I can't say that there is anything I disliked about Dr. Foote, he is a nice guy and a wonderful surgeon! Future patients should know that eventhough he is young, he is a wonderful surgeon. The aftercare is a whole year. So you will go right through your entire weight loss with him! When I spoke with Dr. Foote for the first time, he answered all my questions without hesitation when speaking of the risks. He explained everything I needed to know....then some. I would rate him as great. I want my husband to go to him, that's the amount of confidence I have in him. I didn't get to see Dr. Foote post-op because he had to go out of down the day after my surgery, but his partner came to see me. When I was in the holding area, Dr. Foote was there and he was great. Very nice, humble man.....no arrogance; which I simply HATE!
Young, normal down to earth, nice, funny. knowledgeable. Office staff overworked, busy, but typical. Doctor was very understanding in my concerns took the time to explain any questions I had. Since I haven't had surgery yet, (11-19-03) I hope he is as good as hia bedside manner.
Dr. Schram seemed like a nice man. My time with him at my consult was very short. I think it is because I already know a lot about the surgery and didnt have many questions to ask him. He explained what they did during the surgery process, so that it was easy to understand. He also told me about some of the risk and death ratio. Which I'm not worried about in my situation. I have chosen BTC and Dr. Schram because I have heard alot of wonderful things about Dr. Schram and the many surgerys he has performed outside the BTC surgery.
The staff was really nice and helpful. I really like the way they handle the aftercare. I have been attending BTC meetings with my sister for the past year and feel I get a lot of good information from there.
My surgery date was 06/02/03. On that day right before surgery I had an all out panic attack. I was ready to leave the hosp. with the I.V. connected in my arm and with a hosp. gown on. I was terrified that I would die with surgery and how would my 1 and 8 year old children be without me in their lives? The nurse suggested I should sit and rock in a rocking chair for awhile and try to calm myself down. I sat there for maybe 20 mins focusing on my breathing and clearing my head with my eyes closed when Dr. Schram walked in. He placed his hands on my shoulders and began to calmly talk to me. He was very patient with me. He eventually said,"Are we going to do the surgery today?" I said, "Lets do it now before I change my mind." He than held my hands and prayed with me which also help to calm me. Dr. Schram was very informative of what to expect after surgery and of the complications that could happen. He also went above and beyond the call of duty regarding an insurance matter that I had to deal with later on. He is a very knowledgeable and caring Dr. On a scale of 1-10 he is definately an 11! Thank you Dr. Schram.
My first impression...boy, he is young, hhmm that could be a good thing...steady hands (JK):)
Office staff seemed friendly and informative.
I read somewhere that he prays with his patients before the actual surgery, that to me seems so awesome.
BTC'S program is very extensive. The aftercare if very important. You have to be very commited.
He addressed my concerns and questions very professionaly.
I am not expected to have surgery until later this summer but I believe this is my last resort.
The office was very nice and clean. It seems they do a lot of consults. They have it down pat.
