I was very impressed with Dr, Schram. He answered questions and gave me information that the other doctors I had seen did not.rnI have only met him once but have an appointment for pre-op testing on January 14. rnThe staff at the Barix Clinic were so nice. They made me feel welcome and really quite special.rnI really can't remember anything I didn't like about the doctor. I found him to be very straightforward and honest about everything, including the risks. He did put my mind at ease though by his confident manner. I have complete confidence in him and I believe he has just as much confidence in himself, that made me feel good. rnAlthough bedside manner is important, I would rate surgical competence much higher. I do think Dr, Schram has both, fortunately for his patients.rnI am sure there is a structured aftercare program but since I have not had my surgery yet, i will learn more about that later.rn*********************************rnMonday morning, I was being prepped for surgery and the clock was directly in fornt of me where I could watch it. As it got closer and closer to 10 AM, the butterflies in my stomach got worse. Then the doors opened and there stood my hero, Dr. Jon Schram. He said something like, \"Well, barbara, are you ready to start your new life?\" Then he took my hand in his and PRAYED! I have never felt such a sense of calm in my life! My surgery went very well and I have had no problems. rnI would recommend this wonderful man to anyone!
My first impression of Dr Shram was that he was very pleasant, sweet, gentle and kind. I only met him before surgery. The office staff are amazing and truly care about everyone. I didnt find not one thing negative about Dr Shram at all. He answered any questions i had about my aftercare as well. And talk about an aftercare program, all i can say about that is in my opinion, its the best out there and if i had to do it over again, i would not have chose to go anywhere or see anyone else other than Dr Shram. I was fully aware of any and all risks but i felt safe because i have such a knowledgable Surgeon, i would rate him a 100 out of a 100. As for what is better, either surgical competence or bedside manners, i would perfer to have both, but would like my surgeon to be abit more competent on his surgical skills yet still have the bedside manners, which my doctor has both. I couldnt have had a better experience, ohh and he prayed with me before surgery which is why i was so at ease.
My first impression of Dr. Foote is that he was a very caring individual and was truly concerned about the health of those of us that were at the meeting he held. My opinion of him has only improved as I got more of a chance to meet him during the time I was in the hospital for my surgery. He was supportive of me and let me ask him as many questions as I wanted. I never felt rushed like he had to go see other patients. The staff at his office was wonderful and I didn't feel like anybody there was judgmental of me because I was overweight. To help make sure you are as successful as possible they have several follow up appointments that you have to go to as well as yearly for the rest of your life. I am so glad that I chose Dr. Foote as my surgeon. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give him a definite 10. He is very competent in his profession and treats you like a person not a patient. I only wish that I could have seen him more. I more often than not saw the PAs at my office visits but that is because he does surgery 4 days a week. The clinic where he practices has a very stringent pre-op diet and follow up diet. This was a major downfall. You have to eat their supplements for 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks post op Yhey are ok to start with but by the end of the third week I could not eat them anymore. It would be nice if you could add a few more things after your first week post-op but they really don't like you to do that.
Screw this guy. Do not use him as a surgeon. His office swindled me out of money for their preopt diet & called me one week before & cancelled my surgery . When I had my $330 consult with Dr. Foote-he told me upfront that I had 30 minutes & that was it. Naturally I felt rushed. From that point on I constantly felt like I was #123,014. The front desk staff members are NOT friendly or helpful, quite clueless in fact. I can never get a straight answer from them. In my opinion, surgical competence & bedside manner should go hand in hand & I shouldn't have to sacrifice one for the other.
I've been switched to a new surgeon, Dr. Schram, because my original one is leaving Barix Clinics. Hoping to schedule a consulatation with him soon...rnrn1/8/08 - Finally met Dr. Schram during my PATs. He was very busy with surguries, but took time to come meet me in person. I wish I had more time to talk with him, but I was nervous and flustered. He answered each of my questions and relieved some of my fears. I think he'll be a good surgeon for me, especially because he said he chose to do WLS because it was as rewarding as \"curing cancer.\"
I met Dr. Schram 1 week prior to my surgery at PAT's d/t Dr. Kam leaving Barix. He was very friendly and I instantly felt comfortable with him. I initially had a lap RNY, but after they did the X rays the follwing day , It was discovered that I Had a leak. Within 30 minutes after the leak was confirmed I was back in surgery. Prior to going back to surgery Dr. Schram came to my room and explained what was going on and stated he would try to use the Lap incisions to repair the leak but if he was unable to do it that way I would have an open incision. Which ended up happenning. Dr Schram has an excellent bedside manner and is surgically competent. Knowing what I do now( having leak) I would have him do my surgery all over again and highly recommend him. I like that prior to going into surgery he says a prayer with you.
I thought he was really nice. He actually was the doctor who removed my gall bladder 14 yrs ago.rnrnHe explained everything very well.rn
Dr Foote is wonderful surgeon. My experience with him and his staff was wonderful. The program the follow is structured and supportive and I felt I went into the surgery well informed and ready for the change that was about to happen in my life. Dr Foote has a great bedside manner and has a sharp sense of humor and always has a smile on his face or words of encouragement. He answered many of the questions I had before I even had the chance to ask them. The physician assistants that work with that particular group of surgeons is also very knowledgeable and I feel comfortable continuing my after care with them in the future.
I really like Dr. Foote. He's a young guy that's confident and self-assured like you'd like your surgeon to be. He always seems to be smiling and enjoying his work and he has never made me feel rushed. He seems to genuinely like sitting and answering your questions.
