St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton Organization

Dr. Hong is a very professional yet personable doctor. He was very informative and very supportive. I was sad to hear he was moving away to Canada. The Legacy Team of Surgeons are all great, I would'nt change anything about my experience.

I really liked him before and after. The office staff was nice and helpful. Aftercare is emphasized strongly with structured aftercare programs. I think he was upfront about the risks and benefits of the surgery. I would definitely recommend him as a surgeon.

Dr. Hong was the best, even a year after surgery when I was having issues with my intesinal track he took great care of me. He is very peronable and kind!

My first impression of Dr Hong was that he is knowledgable, compassionate and confident. This has borne out over time. He is both surgically competent and has a good bedside manner. He is respectful of his patients and cares about our outcomes and quality of life. He can come across as \"glib\" but that is the only negative thing I can say about him at this point. The only thing negative to say about his office is that some of the girls who work the front desk are somewhat immature and can be difficult to work with. All the rest of the staff--the medical assistants, Cami the insurance coordinator, Chelsea the scheduler--are fantastic. Dr Hong and his office staff, and the Legacy Obesity Institute with which his office works, all emphasized aftercare and do an excellent job of explaining it & its importance. The program is structured and is a Center of Excellence. All surgical risks were addressed at length. I did not meet the other two surgeons in this practice but had an excellent overall impression of Oregon Weight Loss Surgery LLC practice.

Dr. Hong took a lot of time going over all the MANY questions I had, never made me feel like he needed to get out of there, and answered all my questions completely. I haven't had my surgery yet, so I'll have to reserve comments about that for later.rnrnUPDATE: (July 18, 2006) At almost 3 months postop I would like to say that I'm very pleased with Dr. Hong and his entire office staff. My medical care has been excellent, without any negative experiences. I did have a bit of a wait (about 45 minutes past my appointment time) before seeing him at my last appointment, but that doesn't seem to be the norm there. He's slightly reserved but very thorough when answering questions, and his overall demeanor is kind. When I call with a question my call is returned promptly and my questions are answered completely. Dr. Hong definitely emphasizes the importance of aftercare and has a structured program of follow up. I've felt confident that Dr. Hong is taking good care of me medically and I would recommend him to anyone.rnrnUPDATE #2: (March 11, 2007) At 10 1/2 months postop I still remain impressed with Dr. Hong. I also like his office staff. However, the one issue I've had that needs to be worked out in their office is the follow-through on requests from insurance companies. My claim was only recently finalized because his medical records staff had not followed through on sending the operative report. It took a few phone calls on my part to both Dr. Hong's office and my insurance (with my insurance finally calling them personally to request that report) before it was sent. Other than that I very much like and appreciate Dr. Hong and his staff!

My first impression of Dr. Hong was good. I knew about him through a friend who had had her surgery through him. As of yet, my impression has not changed at all. Dr. Hong is very encouraging, smart and not at all neglectfull.rnrnThe staff at Dr. Hong's office is A #1 the best ever!!!!rnrnI rate Dr. Hong, Legacy Hospital and all of his staff as well as the hospital's as a 10 (1-10).rnrnI could go on and on--but its not needed!

I first met Dr. Hong at the informational meeting. He seemed very nice, and just made me feel at ease with proceeding with the surgery. I had however, set my mind on having his partner Dr. Patterson, do my surgery. Just thought I would prefer a woman doctor. rnAs i worked through the process to actually get to have the appointment with the surgeon, I was totally impressed with the staff at the Legacy Obesity Institute in Portland Or. they are the most awesome, caring group of people. When it was time to set my appointment with the surgeon, Dr. Patterson didnt have an opening for weeks, but Dr. Hong did. So I went with Dr. Hong. I have to say, I have not regretted it at all. He is AWESOME. I went to my appointment with a page of questions. He answered each one, and didnt make me feel silly or rushed. His sense of humor is wonderful too. when it comes to bedside manner he is pretty much all business. which, is fine, he makes sure all the facts and info is addressed. Afew days ago, I called the office to ask some questions, I asked if there was a nurse or someone I could talk to, and to my surprise, Dr. Hong himself got on the phone, we talked through my issue, and he was patient and through. Guess I just cant say enough about how wonderful this whole process, and the doctor and staff have been.rn

When I first met Dr. Hong, I was very impressed. He was very willing to go through my list of questions that I had about the surgery and the complications. I saw Dr. Hong once the morning of surgery for a last minute update and a few times while I was in the hospital after surgery and he was still willing to help me if I had questions. His office staff are really helpful and nice but the one down fall I found is not to schedule an appointment until 8:30am. They do not open the door until 8:15 or closer to 8:30 so you just have to wait out on the hallway benches. I would definitely suggest you use Dr. Hong because he is friendly, willing to help, and seems very concerned for his patients.

Dr. Hong is very nice. He is also a fantastic surgen. He did a wounderful job and I haven't had any problems as of yet. I am 3 weeks post-op.
