Dr. Halmi and his associate, Dr. Tran have been really great. Dr. Halmi has a very laid back presence but is very attentive and of course knowledgable about everything. He has spoken and many conferences worldwide. Dr. Tran joined his practice this spring and is younger and very sharp. I like him alot. I was MOST IMPRESSED with his bedside manner before surgery and follow-up after. He seemed very concerned about the mystery fever I had developed the day after surgery which stayed for the next 5 days.rnThe office staff learned alot about me and my insurance. I was put off by the extreme professionalism-but I know they have so many patients to deal with. My insurance changed their language on their approval letters which they weren't accepting but I pushed and had someone from the headquarters in Dallas contact them directly to explain that I really was covered. The office staff seems nice but probably takes time to warm up to you which I haven't been able to really crack yet, even after 4 months. Oh well.
'My first impression of Dr. Halmi was normal for meeting a new doctor. He was very informative and he answered every quetion that I had. My impression change over time because we got to know each other very well. A few weeks prior to my surgery I was at his office atleast once a week. (maybe a little exageration) What I really like about Dr. Halmi was his gentleness and his patience. Future patients please realize that this is something that you want to do

Dr. Tran was very friendly i am not a person for alot of question and he did not ask alot of question besides had i tried other weight loss methods and if i had heard of the lap band. i think he was very accurate in explain the procedure. Very good spirit, he did ask why i decide on the procedure i choice which was the bypass i stated to him i needed something to control my eating he also explained to the different between the priximol and distal. That help me alot...
I am very confident in Dr. Tran education and training and i am currently waiting to start my pre-op.
11/15/05 I will meet Dr Halmi on the 22nd. I am looking forward to the experience...........

Dr. Halmi is a highly skilled and very thoughtful surgeon. He takes his time and answers any questions you may have. He was not rushed but really wanted me to understand everything about the surgery. The day of surgery he could tell I was a tad anxious and he was very kind and gentle in making sure I was alright. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Halmi with NO reservations!
On first impression, he is very laid back and non chalant. However, I do feel comfortable that he is very experienced in the procedure. The staff is very pleasant and the office does everything to make you feel pleasant. I felt like I would stared at just going to an "Obesity Center", but once your inside, they make you feel at home and you forget the stigma of going in there in the first place.
On my second visit, Dr. Halmi was more personable. I guess that in the beginning, he is just trying to get to learn as much about you medically as possible.
I had my first nutrition counseling today with Deana Duvall. She is very pleasant and a wealth of knowledge. She does a really good job of helping me fully understand what to expect.
My doctor is very nice and compassionate; he took the time to talk to me in depth about the surgery and the changes it will involve. This is a rare quality in doctors now adays, who seem to want you in and out in a hurry. The nutritionist is super, but it would be better if she took health insurance (you have to pay $200 out of pocket for 2 sesions). The office staff is ok. The doctor I would rate A+; both i surgical competence and bedside manner.
