Kind, answered all questions without any hesitation..The office staff is great and the nutritionist has a great attitude!! Very motivating and definitely knowledgeable in the nutrition for a bypass patient!
I took to Dr. Halmi the first time I met him. His calm, gentle, competent manner assured me that I had a surgeon I could trust. This impression is true today as well. When he is with you he isn't rushed and makes you feel as if he has all the time in the world for you and only you.rnrnDr. Halmi's office staff is competent but always seems rushed. It would be good office etiquette if they welcomed people as they came into the small waiting room. In fact, the waiting room has been extremely crowded each time I have been there. But...I love the oversized chairs!rnrnDr. Halmi explained the pros and cons of both the gastric bypass and the lap band surgery. He left it up to me to decide which one was best for me which I very much appreciated.rnrnBoth he and Dr. Tran are very competent surgeons and have excellent beside manners. rnrnBrittany, their nutritionist, is a very caring individual and her enthusiasm is contagious!
Dr. Halmi is awesome. He has consistantly been a wonderful caring surgeon with a great following. He will work with you and truly cares about his patients. He has both the surgical competence and the bedside manner.rnrnI believe he is no longer with Dr. Anez's practice but has his own practice in Woodbridge, VA.
I had a very good first meeting with Dr. Halmi. He explained all of my options and did not try to sway my opionion on going open or via lap RNY. I had already decided to go Lap anyway (Less recovery time). Not alot of small talk, very professional and to the point.
My first impression of Dr. Halmi was he was very soft spoken but really knows alot about the surgery being as though I had already done research on him. The office staff is very nice and friendly.
Quiet, small fellow, answered all my questions, seemed to want to steer me to RNY and I discussed it with him, but I prefer the lap band. WhrnWhat I don't like about the office is that I can never get a hold of these people they say they have office hours between 9AM and 5PM and lunch between certain hours, but they still don't answer the phone during the time they claim they are open. I would suggest they invest in a better answering service or at least use it better. Once you get a hold of them, they are great.
Dr Halmi is the best in this region. His professionality and attention to detail is unsurpassed. He got rave reviews from all the hospital staff that I spoke with. He even saved me from possibly having to extend my hospital stay much longer due to complications after the surgery.rnDr. Halmi doesn't push the information and allows you to ask whatever questions you will ask. It is good to do as much advanced research about the procedure as you can so that you know what to ask. He is professional and knows just what to do in any circumstance.rnHis medical assistant, Rezwon, is a consumate professional heath care giver and is compassionate and caring for her patients.
I really like both Dr. Halmi and Dr. Tran. Both are very straight forward and answered questions. Dr. Tran struck me as having a very no nonsense, \"i'm going to tell it to you the way I'd like to hear it myself\" attitude. rnBased on my personal experience, I found one member of their office staff to be very short and quite frankly unfriendly both in person and over the phone. Other staff members such as the dietitian, receptionist, etc. were very nice and easy to work with. rnrnOverall I give the Drs. a 10.
I met with Dr. Halmi in May. His demeanor was comforting and I was immediately at ease. He discussed my health history with me, reviewed the surgical procedure, and answered any questions I asked him. We discussed all the risks of surgery and the odds of each.rnrnHe has a great office staff. Aetna is my insurance carrier and requires a three month period of consultations with a dietician and a physical therapist. Dr. Halmi has all that set up so you can get into a class right away. rnrnHis aftercare program is extremely structured, and he emphasizes that program. In fact, one reason I chose Dr. Halmi was his excellent aftercare program. rnrnI would rate him excellent at this point. However, I have not yet had my surgery. I will let you know later if that rating still stands. One issue I did have is that I felt isolated from the doctor while undergoing the three month class.rnrnSurgical competence is probably more important than bedside manner. However, we can have both!
