I've seen Dr. Halmi only once, but he will be my surgeon for the lap band procedure this summer. My first impression of Dr. Halmi was a positive one. He is the first bariatric surgeon that I have seen who showed genuine and sincere concern and interest in me as a patient. He was a terrific listener and gave me plenty of time to ask questions. The office staff were professional and pleasant. I didn't have to wait to see him - he was on time. I will give a further review after I get closer to my surgery.
Dr. Halmi is awesome. He is a soft spoken and kind and my entire experience with him exceeded my expectations in every way. From my first office consultation to my second fill, he, and Dr. Tran, have been more than I expected.rnrnThere was a lady in his office that takes care of all the insurance stuff. Her name is Ruth. Believe me when I say YOU WANT Ruth working for you. We had to have a 3-way conversation with my insurance company and she manhandled them. I had my approval in her hand a week later. rnrnWhen I showed up at the hospital the morning of my surgery not only did Dr. Halmi make me feel comfortable, but his reassurance that I was doing a good thing, was also a nice touch
Dr Halmi is a quiet, soft spoken person. He is board certified and has an excellent record re: his surgical competence. He carefully addresses all possible risks of the surgery, and discusses which type of surgery would best meet your needs. His office has a structured program to meet your information needs and those required by most insurance companies, that are well worht the extra charge. He has a very strong after care support program that meets in the evening. Dr Halmi is usually in attendence at the support group, and is happy to answer questions. As an RN and as a patient, I felt very comfortable with Dr Halmi's approach to bariatric surgery, and would highly reccommend him! If I had to say something negative, it would be that: (1) I wish thety didn't have to charge extra for the pre-op classes, (2) The classes at the time I attended were only held during the day. Ifthey haven't added an evening series, it would be helpful for people working during the day.rnrn
My original gastic bypass was done in fair oaks by dr. anez (his partner at the time) in 1997 I then consulted with Dr. Halmi and Dr. Tran for a revision this time with a lap band since I had not lost all of my desired weight. All of these surgeons that I have experienced are extremely knowledgable and experienced.
Dr. Halmi seems to be a kind, concerned surgeon. I had my consultation with him and he was great at answering questions and giving me a complete run down of what to expect before, during and after surgery. I'll update more after my surgery.

VERY KIND AND CARING.rnrnDR TRAN- IS A LITTLE MORE OUTSPOKEN. HE ACTUALLY IS THE DOC. THAT I SAW MORE OF WHEN I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL. A WONDERFUL PERSON, VERY CARING B/C I HAD SOME SET BACKS AFTER THE PROCEDURE. HE MADE SURE I WAS BEING WELL TAKEN CARE OF.rnrnYOU COULDN'T ASK FOR ANY BETTER DOCTOR'S I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH OF THEM.
Dr. Halmi, is a wonderful surgeon and person. He cares about his patients and there well being. During my surgical journey, I have run into several obstacles and Dr. Halmi has been very supportive every step of the way.rnrnMy rating for Dr. Halmi is 100%/A+. rnrnIf you are considering the surgery or in the process of electing a surgeon, please consider Dr. Halmi and/or his associate Dr. Tran. My first impressions are favorable. Very friendly and willing to address any questions or issues. I've read other patient reviews and they seem to all be favorable so that is a good sign. rnrnNow that I'm a month out I still feel the same way. I had a very good experience with my surgeon. Apparently he did a great job because so far I have had no problems.
Dr. Halmi is great. He is very caring and knowledgeable. He has a great reputation with past patients and hospital staff. He was very up-front with the pros and cons of having the gastric bypass operation. He has developed the \"mini\" bypass which is a smaller incision, takes less time, causes less problems, etc. He has a nutritionist on his staff and before and after program requirements to keep the patient on the right track. Personally, I want surgical competance and good bedside manner. Dr. Halmi more than meets the requirements. I highly recommend him and his staff.
