My first impression of Dr. Halmi was wonderful. I went to the Staples Club support group meeting and soon after scheduled a consultation with Dr. Halmi. He explained the surgery in detail, answered all of my questions, even when I interrupted him, and made my husband feel more at ease. Right then and there my husband and I decided that if the insurance will cover the surgery, I will have it done. Office staff was okay. He has a structured aftercare program in place with his dietician. He did address the risks of surgery when we asked. I think surgical competence is better than bedside manner but both are good. I'd rate him a 9 out of 10.

When i first met Dr. Halmi it was actually before i had even considered having bypass. My wife was sick 2 years prior to my surgery and we found out it was gallstones. Dr. Halmi was her Doctor and I was very impressed with his professionalism and his bed side manners. I remembered this a year later when a customer of mine came into the dealership and started talking about her doctor. I told her it sounded remarkably like Dr. Halmi. She gave a small kind of laugh and said that it was. She is the one I would like to thank about giving me the courage to do this but ultimatly it was Dr. Halmi who gave me back my life.
My first visit to Dr. halmi's office was a bit nerve wrecking. I had went alone to discuss this with him and upon entering the office i was warmly greated by his staff and they talked me through the whole process. When i first entered his office i got the fealing as though he wasnt completly listening to me. But then when i was done talking he repeated back to me all my concerns and addressed them all individually. But, and this may sound silly, the thing that put my mind at ease about Doctor Halmi was his attention to small details. This is the silly part. His was the only office i had ever been in that the waiting room had oversized armchairs to make the waiting patients more comfortable. It was this small detail that helped put my mind at ease and showed me that he trully cared.
The aftercare program has been wonderful. They make sure, absolutly sure, that you are following the diet the right way and always monitoring you, blood work, energy leavels, pain leavels the whole time. This is a process that starts from the moment you first wake after surgery up until...well i am 6 months out and they are still doing a great job.
To rate the staff and Dr. Halmi would do them all a great injustice because to me they are the......I reallly don't know what to say. They saved my life and gave my kids there father back. To say something cheesey i could say on a scale of one to ten ten being the best, Dr. Halmi and crew far, far, far by-pass this (and yes the punn was intended).

My first impression of Dr. Halmi, was that he was very certain of his ability to perform this surgery. I had my mind set on laproscopic, but God made a different decision for me. So, I chose Dr. Halmi and an open procedure, mostly because of his explaination and his true belief in his ability to do it fast, and with minimal scaring.
I think my impression of Dr. Halmi has only increased. Prior to surgery and post surgery he was professional and continued to show me that confidence that I needed to see. Post op, he was gentle and smile and said, "Everything went Great!". So, my journey is now beginning.

Dr. Halmi, is a man of few words, but he is confident and easy to work with. He took my insurance even though it wasn't on the initial approval list for him.

Dr. Halmi is 9.5 in my eyes (On a 10 point scale, no one is perfect)

Dr. Halmi and his staff are wonderful. He made both my husband and me feel very comfortable with the hundreds of questions we had regarding the surgery. I am very comfortable knowing that he is going to be the one to give me my new life! 43 days and counting!

I already knew Dr Halmi because he did cancer surgery on my father a number of years ago and I liked him from the very beginning, even then. I was fortunate that I didn't have to get acclimated to him as I already had a level of trust.

He thoroughly went over the risks involved and when I was having trouble getting some of the preop tests he interceeded and everything went smoothly after that.

The aftercare is great, Deanna, his dietician is super and she also runs the support group.

You won't find any better than Dr Halmi and his group.

Dr. Halmi impressed me initially because he is so sweet and down to earth. I have major "doctor phobia" and I literally forgot to be nervous when I was talking to him. That says a lot. I wasn't even the least bit nervous on my surgery date. Dr. Halmi has done so many of these that I knew it would be a piece of cake. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both excellent.
The office staff is also very nice, very easy to work with.
The aftercare program is excellent. Deanna is *wonderful*. She gives you a complete schedule for food and supplements so when you get home from the hospital you are all ready with no guesswork about how to fit everything in.

Dr Halmi is a very caring man who participates in all aspects of patient care. I first met him at a meeting of his support group - The Staple Club, and was immediately impressed with his attitude. He knew names and situations without help! O have been quite impressed with his staff - everyone is friendly and caring. He was honest and direct with all aspects of WLS and answered any questions I had. My surgery is scheduled for May 18, 2005 and I will go home on my 48th birthday.

Dr. Halmi is quiet, confident, and proficient. His office building in Woodbridge is a little old and delapidated. The elevators will put the fear of God into any obese person.

His staff is extremely helpful, friendly, and discreet. The best doctor's staff I've ever seen.

Dr. Halmi is an excellent surgeon and has a genuine concern for his patients. Unfortunately, he's only one man and can't do every bariatric surgery in the world.
Those considering weight loss surgery should know that if they choose Dr. Halmi, they are in good hands and will be well cared-for.

Dr. Halmi and Deanna emphasize a well-planned -out aftercare program in much detail. The aftercare is very structured. Dr. Halmi gave me a binder full of details about the surgery and answered all my questions.

I would rate Dr. Halmi a 10 out of 10, and if any other physicians are rated a 10 - Dr. Halmi is an 11 out of 10.

Dr. Halmi excels in both surgical competence and bedside manner.
