<p align="left">Dr. Halmi was a soft spoken man. He took plenty of time to answer questions and explain procedures. I felt nervous, but comfortable talking to him. 10/4/2002 Attended a Staple Club Meeting held locally and the guest speaker was Dr. Halmi. I must say that this pleased me to know that the person doing my surgery took his personal time to speak to this group. Many Dr's would not bother after hours to attend a gathering and be hammered with qestions. It made me feel even more comfortable to see how he handled himself in this situation. He seems to be concerned and approachable. He states that he will be my Doctor for life now. That is impressive. He seems to be honost in his answers, good or bad, has a tremendous aftercare program for his patients. Some that attended said that they had only seen their doctors once or twice in months.
Dr. Halmi was bi-weekly. He stressed that he wished to be informed of any problems immediately and as stated, he is available. Although it is too early to say how this will go the patients of his attending seemed to be well satisfied and I am hoping to be the same. I will keep you posted, good or bad.
11/25/2002 I am now 12 days Post Op and I thought I would take this time to say that Dr. Halmi has been wonderful. He was attentive, answered all questions, my surgery went well and not only did I have the RNY, I also had a major hernia repair at the same time and I am pleased to say that I am feeling excellent and making good progress. I hope to be back to work on Monday. His staff has been very kind and is after care program is exceptional. He has stated that he will be my doctor for life and that is so comforting. I rate him very highly.
My first impression of Dr. Halmi is that he is very professional and knowledgable. Everyone is right about him being easy to talk to and I felt very comfortable about expressing all of my concerns to him- I thought I'd have difficulty asking him about the risks and how many patients of his had actually not survived surgery. He was very understanding. Although, I'm sure he has to repeat himself several times daily...he never made me feel that my questions weren't important. That, to me, indicates that he will be treating me like an individual...not just somthing on an assembly line..(I feel like that every time I visit doctors)
Dr. Halmi is a gentle, quiet man, that I have heard wonderful things about. He is encouraging and open to any questions I have had. His office staff are friendly and helpful. Deanna, the nutrionist is a very sweet person, and has explained everything I need to do. I have complete confidence in this group to assist me in my dreams to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Pretty quiet, but very kind and informative. He answered all my questions and seemed very sincere about his work. Office staff is very friendly and respectful, however the wait in the office is extremely long. I've been in the office twice and both times waited over an hour for a 10 minute appointment. Overall I think Dr. Halmi would rate at a 9. However, I haven't had the surgery yet, so I'll be able to give greater detail and updates later this summer.
My first impression of my surgeon started with his front office staff -- friendly and helpful, a pleasure to speak with. I was immediately at ease with Dr. Halmi. This had as much to do with instinct as anything. He is soft-spoken. Didn't rush me. I'd done my research (and two of my sisters had WLS), so I am well informed. I can vouch for his covering all the bases, including the risks. There is nothing about he or the staff that I didn't like.
I have a consult date on May 30,2002 with Dr.Halmi.I was very happy to get an appointment that I didn't have to wait nine months for. The receptionist was very helpful and told me all that would be required to submit to insurance. She also said that Alliance is pretty good about approving surgeries. I am so giddy that I haven't even needed a nap today! I met with Dr.Halmi today. He and his staff all seemed very friendly. I got on the scale and realized I had lost 8lbs. The horror!!!!!! This is the first time in my life that I was not glad to see the scale go down! I even ate a whole pie this week and still a loss of 8lbs. Plus when they measured my height they didn't have me take my shoes off so it said I was an inch taller than I really am. That meant my BMI was 40.0. I had her take my height again without shoes and I was my normal 5'4 so that pushed my BMI up to 41.1. I asked the Dr. a few questions about the surgery and risks involved he answered them all and gave me a booklet to take home and read.I spoke to several patients of his in the waiting room and they all had good things to say about Dr.Halmi. Dr.Halmi said he would submit my claim to insurance and I should know something in about two weeks. I am so pysched up about this surgery I will be devastated if I am denied. Also Dr.Halmi will remove my gall bladder if deemed necessary which I believe it is. So maybe we can kill two birds with one stone...As long as I'm not the bird!!!
I think the staff is great. Dr. Halmi was very reserved but professional. He offered to answer any questions. He gave me a book to read about the surgery and risks but didn't offer much information beyond that unless I asked.
He didn't talk about the support group run from his practice and suggested I attend. I have heard many positive things about him and look forward to getting a confirmed surgery date.
Dr. Halmi is excellent. He maked himself available to answer any and every question I had. He has a quite gentle manner and takes excellent care of his patients. His staff is well informed and open to sharing. He has set up the weight-loss clinic in such a way that you know exactly what is going to happen and everything you will need when it does.
He has an excellent dietician working with him, Dianna Duvall, she is very pleasant and knowlable and helps you through the transition after surgery.
I expected this to be a very difficult experience but because my physicain and his staff armed with the knowledge and tools I needed, it was really a walk in the park.
