UPMC Altoona Hospital
Dr. Currie is a true down to earth type of doctor. He pulls no punches and is very direct about your care. Everything is explained about your expectations after the surgery and his expectations of you as a patient to make this successful.
The office staff is second to none! Always, you are met with a smile and a pleasant attitude. They go out of their way to do what is right for you.
I was hesitant even when I was in pre-op about the surgery, but was assured that this was the right thing to do. I had the opportunity to cancel up until the fentanyl was flowing in the OR.
I honestly cannot say anything negative about the experience.
I met with Dr. Currie on Friday February 11, 2005. Dr Currie was very professional and gave me a real sense of being at ease with having my surgery. He took his time to explain to me what would happen during surgery and what to expect after surgery. Dr Currie answered all of my questions to my satisfactory and seemed genuine and reassuring he would take excellent care of me during and after the operation. So far the staff and doctors at the weightloss clinic have been the best, they have gone out of thier way to make sure things go smooth for me. I am now on my 6 month diet and when I am finally done with that which will be around beginning of July my surgery can be scheduled. Dr Currie says he will work on making sure everything is set up so there will be no trouble with getting insurance approval (I hope). Now it is time to play the waiting game. I had no negative experiences with Dr Currie. I did have to wait for about 1/2 hour before seeing him but his patience and confidence was worth the wait.
My surgery is Dr. Scott Currie of Weight Loss Clinic of Harrisburg, PA. My first impression was that he was nice and a straight shooter. He answered all my questions and looked me straight in the eye while talking to me.
The second time I saw him was before and after my scope test. He was kind and compassionate and once again straight to the point.
I liked him and put my faith in him.
The following are completely my personal impressions:
Dr Curie is a very kind and caring doctor and really knows his stuff. As I had pre-surgery tests done. I trusted Dr. Curie even more. His bed side manner is excellent.
The office staff is very caring and understanding from the moment you walk in the door.
I liked every thing about Dr. Curie.
He is a very competent and caring doctor. We need more of him in this world.
He is very supportive and stresses aftercare.
I already have the paperwork for the aftercare program-they want us to have that upfront so we know exactly what to expect.
I would rate him and excellent doctor.
And the fact that he has a great bedside mannner and surgical competence, just adds up to one great package.
Dr Currie is very professional & very friendly. He took his time in answering my questions and concerns. I am very pleased to have a surgeon this close to my home who I would trust with my life. His staff is professional and friendly. Their program from beginning to end covers all aspects of pre-op through post-op and beyond. He cares about your health after the surgery with scheduled checkups to make sure you are in good health. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate him as a 9.... the additional 1 will follow after surgery :-) I am totally at ease with my choice of surgeons. Thank you Dr. Currie! I'm now 6 days post-op. Here is that additonal "1" to round out the 1-10 plus an extra 5 :-). Surgery went great!
<p align="left">I loved Dr. Currie from the first time we met. I knew I had made the right decision and picked the right surgeon. He has changed my whole life. I could never thank him enough for the life he's given back to me. I saw him at my 6 month post op just by coincidence. I gave him a big hug and cried like a baby! He is one step under God in my eyes, a true miracle worker. I've lost 105 pounds in 8 months. I wear a size 12!! My prom dress was a size 20 and I was a size 26 at the time of my surgery if that gives you any indication of how dramatically this man has changed me. This surgery has taken YEARS of weight off of my body. There are no words in the English language that can express the awe and gratitude that I have for Dr. Currie. He's the best there is.
My first opinion of Dr. Currie is that he was very kind and careing. I work with a surgeron who did residency so we had something in common. He explained to procedure in detail, went over risks of the procedure and answered any questions. However, when he did my EGD I was less than impressed and have considered choosing a new surgeon even if it means going out of the area. Hopefully he was just having an off day, this impression was very diffrent from everything I have heard about him. If I was not so far into the process it would possibly be easier to switch surgeons. Still considering but I already have a surgery date....Keep you posted.
His office staff is wonderful and have been very informative. The dietians on staff are wonderful and always so very kind and understanding.
I would prefer a good surgeon with bad bedside manner to a so so surgeon with great bedside manner.
