Met Dr Currie today. He seems very confident and was more then willing to answer all of our questions. We are looking forward to having Dr Currie perform our surgeries.rn***UPDATE (ONE MONTH POST-OP) Dr Currie (and all the surgeons at HWLC) is absolutely the best. My Surgery went with out a glitch and I would NEVER think about having this surgery done open or by anyone other then one of the surgeons at HWLC. The pain was minimum and their care was nothing short of topnotch. Thank You Dr Currie For giving me a new shot at a normal life. Its my turn now and I will not let you down.rn***UPDATE (ONE YEAR POST-OP) The care I continue to receive from Harrisburg Weightloss clinic remains unquestionably second to none. I cannot say tank you enough to their wonderful staff. Dr Currie is very accessible especially at the monthly support group meetings. It amazes me that even though he has so many other patients he always takes time to say hello and believe me or not he remembers my name and even some personal details. At this point most of my follow up is with Dr Weiger. He is also very knowledgeable, accessible, and personable.

My first impression of Dr. Currie was very positive. He actually made eye contact, and didnt give you that look, you know the one. The one where the doctors looks at you like here is another heavy person with an excuse or you should be ashamed. The staff are very pleasant and help to make you feel comfortable. Dr Currie and the staff stresses the process of WLS and the importance of "aftercare". He was very willing to answer any questions, and gave a very detailed support group chat on complications of surgery. Can not wait for surgery, feel Dr. Currie is A+++. (Have seen the joy in other "patients" that Dr Currie has set free.)

I have had one consultation with him and he did my EDG. So far, I love him. He has been kind and has answered all of my questions. He is cute too! His office staff has been fantastic.

Post-op - I would recommend Dr. Currie to anyone in the Harrisburg area considering surgery. He has a great bedside manner and has always answered all of my questions and never made me feel he was in a hurry.

*What was my first impression of him?

My first impression was "wow, he's young..." I first met Dr. Newlin at his Informational Seminar that he requires if interested in bariatric surgery. I quickly learned by hearing him speak that he is very well educated and very intelligent.

*How did your impression change over time?

Honestly, I was even more impressed once I met with him one-on-one at my first pre-op appointment. I found him to also be open and very caring about his patients.

*How would you describe his office staff?

I basically only dealt with Karen. I can only find one word that describes her best: DEDICATED. She is great!

*What did I like least about him?

I honestly cannot find anything that I didn't like him or his staff. This whole experience has truly been a positive one for me.

*What should future patients know about him?

He is straightforward and honest about the risks of RNY as well as what expect after surgery.

*How much does he emphasize aftercare?

He stresses that after care is very important and is a must.

*Does he have a structured aftercare program?

Yes -- required post-op follow-up visits to his office as well as to the nutritionist.

*How did he address the risks of surgery?

He was forthright on the risks of RNY at his Informational Seminar. He also took the time to address all of my questions at my pre-op appointments.

*How would you rate him overall?

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate him an 11.

*Which is better: surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great?

Surgical Competence - Considering how well I've done, I've no doubt this doctor is very competent.

Bedside Manner - Wonderful...it's nice to see a doctor smile when he sees you doing well.

August 5 2005: Today i met Dr.Currie and i must say i was very impressed . He's so nice and easy to talk to.Doesn't make you feel he's in a hurry[even though they were backed up]. I had several questions and he answered each one. I feel very comfortable with him.

Dr. Currie is very personable and knowledgeable. I felt comfortable with him immediately. Actually, the whole staff is nice. They have an active support group. The only complaint I have is that when I was first home from the hospital, I called the office a couple of times for things that they said in the book they gave me, that I should call if anything on the list happened. Then when I called, they acted as if it wasn't a big deal. Also, I wasn't fully informed on how the one incision would heal. The other 4 were closed and healing, the main one was still draining, and had to heal from the inside out. I wish someone had explained that clearly to me.

Dr. Currie was and is very friendly and compentent. He put me at ease the day of my surgery and made sure I knew all the risks, etc. He made sure all of the questions that my family and I had were answered. My first post op appt went very well, I had lost 15 pounds in 15 days! He went over the diet with me again and also made sure I understood the exercise and diet program. I would recommend Dr. Currie to anyone!

My first impression of Dr. Scot Currie was his looks. He is a very nice looking man. I got over it quickly and then got real. Dr. Currie explained the surgery and reviewed the list of possible complications.
I felt instantly comfortable in his presence. He was relaxed and unhurried. He let me take all the time I needed to ask questions. He was also professional and upfront. I was not able to find a question that he or his staff could not answer. Dr. Currie always made me feel as though I was his only patient and my level of comfort was of utmost importance to him. I would recommend Dr. Currie. Not only did he do my gastric bypass surgery in February 2004, but I chose to have him remove my gall bladder in April 2005. Still just as professional and competent.

Congratulations, Dr. Currie, on the birth of your daughter.

My first impression of Dr. Newlin was that he looked like Dale Earnhardt Jr. He is genuinely interested in helping others. He seems sincere in his work.

Dr. Newlins' office staff seems so incredibly sincere also. I haven't spoken with many of them, but Karen is so great.

I was able to quickly get an appointment for my initial visit with them. The best thing is they are close home so I don't have to travel far at all; only about 30 minutes!

Dr. Newlin was great in explaining all the details of the surgery preparations, the actual surgery and what to expect afterward.

He explained the diet that his patients will be on immediately after surgery. He also seems to have a very good after care program set into place.

I believe I am in the best of hands with Dr. Newlin.

Although I haven't had the surgery yet, I expect great results with Dr. Newlin. I will update as needed!!!
