Well, I have heard alot of good reviews about my surgeren, but i have not actualy met with him yet, I mean besides the simenare that everyone goes to. I think, if a person is going to have his hands inside o you, and you are to trust this person htan yoiu should have a meeting asap, but his office thinks other wise.

My opinion of Dr. Richardson was that he was very upfront, thorough, had a good sense of humor, easygoing and willing to answer questions. The staff is very kind, compassionate and personable. Aftercare, as I understand it, at this point is very vital and necessary. I am very understanding of this because I know things could go wrong months, or even years after the surgery of complications if you do not listen to the surgeon. He addressed the risks of surgery very well. He was brutally honest. I am anxious to meet him again for the consultation as I have only been to the seminar.

Dr. Richardson was professional and knows what he is doing. I know several who also have had him as their surgeon and felt confident in his skills. He always works with another surgeon. I was told by his staff that he and the other surgeon assist one another. He is not a chatty guy but will ask if you have questions and will always give you an answer or put you with the one who can answer your question best.

I didn't receive my pain pump while in recovery like I should have. Not tell 1 1/2 hours after I was back in my room.
My family talked to the surgeon at 5:30pm and was told I would in recovery for 1 hour. They would get to see me in my room there after. It was 9pm before I was in my room. I spent 3 and a half hour in recovery!! With no pain pump. They were giving me straight shots of morphine into my IV but it was not cutting it. I was groaning in pain for 4 1/2 hours.
The rooms were not accommodating. No room for guest. My dad sat out in the hallway, my mom in a chair that was sat in front of the sink blocking the way to the sink. She had no choice. And my husband had to sit or lay on my bed.
My nursing aid through out most of my stay was very nice and I am glad she gave me great care!
I did have a psycho roommate at first and after complaining she was moved out. She had been asking to move out of our small janitors closet though as well so I don't know if it was me or her but I was glad to see her go.
Very rarely did I have nursing staff encourage me to drink or walk. The two things I needed to be doing. I had one great nurse who was the one who ended up finding me the pain pump.
I work as a nurses aid. I would not want to work at this hospital.

I was very impressed with Dr. Richardson. He knew what he was doing and communicated what to expect including risks and treatment, very well. I went to St. Alexian Bros. Hospital in St. Louis through the New Start program. The staff are very helpful and answered any questions. The hospital was friendly, but seemed old, and not as clean as it could have been. The nurses were very good, but I was a little concerned that the IV nurse did not wear gloves when she started my IV before surgery. The new start program encourages nutrition classes and have support classes available every month. I would recommend Mr. Richardson to anyone thinking about having the R&Y GB.

My first impression of Dr. Richardson was very good. I first met him at an educational seminar for the New Start Program at St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was very informative and I liked that he was very upfront about the risks and benefits of the surgery. Never once did I feel like I didn't know the risks going into this surgery. I felt very educated, but once again, I researched it for 5 years. The next time I met Dr. Richardson was at my initial visit prior to my surgery. He was again, very upfront and very brief. He seemed very busy, but very confident in what he was doing. This confidence gave me a sense of safety and security. I also felt safe in knowing that he had the most experience of the surgeons in the rest of the program. During and after my surgery he was always helpful when I had questions and always very caring and considerate, even the couple of times I had to page him after office hours to ask questions when I was concerned. He never once treated me like I should have known the answer or like I should be doing something else. I have great confidence in recommending him, especially because I have not had any complications (I'm sure that has a lot to do with the surgeion and of course, me following the after care plans).

Surgical competence, pain management and bedside manner are the best things about this surgeon. rnrnAccessibility is probably something that could be improved, but I guess if he is good that means he is in high demand so that makes sense.
