There are NOT enough wonderful words to say about Dr. N. Richardson. In 2004 I had RYGB done (lap) by Dr. Richardson. I had an initial difficulty in the first few weeks with an obstruction. I contacted Dr. Richardson at 10pm via the hospital ED as a page, he called me back himself in apx 15 minutes, spoke with me concerning my problem gave me directions and told me not to wait if I needed him to come to the hospital and he would meet me in the ED. Fortunately, I was able to resolve the obstruction ( my own dumb fault for getting it in the first place) at home. Dr. Richardson then called to check on me - HIMSELF at 0700 the next morning. I had no problems and did not need any other follow up with Dr. Richardson until 2008- Again, my own dumb fault I ended up with a perferation in my stomach and infection thruout my abd by taking medications. When I presented to my local ED the MD said I would need immediate surgery- he convinced my to let him call Dr. Richardson. Dr. Richardson said SEND HER TO ME!-The ED physician and Dr. Richardson spoke aproximately 10 minutes before I was rushed by ambulance from Southern Illinois to Union Missouri on a Friday afternoon where his surgery crew was waiting for me, I arrived at the hospital and went straight to surgery within 30 minutes.
I am pleased to say I had complete repair of a lengthy ulcer( apx 2 1/2") and pertionitis and went home in 5 days. I am a nurse and I have never been SO impressed by a surgeon as I have been by Dr. Richardson and his staff!!!! I have since sent my family members to see him and they too were so pleased with his staff and care. Trust me he is a genius!

Dr. Richardson seems very rushed but he knows what he is doing! His office staff are courteous and have time to answer your questions. They really make you feel like you matter.

I really like Dr. Richardson. He is so nice and gives so much information and really explains it well. I like his answers on everything I have asked him. He does have a great sense of humor but yet is serious when need be. I feel so at ease with him and I have great confidence in him.. the surgery went so good and recovery time was minimal. His aftercare program is fantastic as are the crew at My New Self. They are always there to help with any problems or questions. I would give him the highest rating possible. I recommend the Des Peres Hospital program..

Dr Richardson and his staff hve been amazing, he not only helped me through my revision but his office and staff offer so much more for me than my previous Dr's office did. They have a nutritionist there in the same building and you can see her at each of your office visits if you need too. so comforting knowing there not only worried about me at the time of surgery but along the entire journey.. Thank You Dr Richardson

On my initial consultation with Dr. Richardson I was blown away by how crowded his office waiting room was. Upon meeting with him, he seemed very nice and told me that he would schedule me for surgery within a week. Not realizing that all of my paperwork had not been completed. He appologized for the misunderstanding and explained that I still needed to do some testing. He is very nice for a man who is so busy. My first impression was that he was a man who takes on a lot of patients and is stretched very thin.rnI didnt like that this doctor is stretched so thin that he seems not to have enough time to sit and explain things thoroughly. I think if he was asked questions he would take the time, but patients need to be sure to go in with a list of questions and make sure that they speak up to get their answers.rnI do feel like I need to add that the offiice staff in Saint Alexuis office are very overwhelmed, and maybe even understaffed. I had some of my paperwork misplaced which could have been a bigger hastle if I had not been on top of this.rnI would use this same surgeon again if I had to do this over again. He was great at the hospital and seemed sincere when he was at my bedside the morning of surgery.

My nurses were wonderful, all except for one. She was horrid and rude and made me miserable the night she was supposedly "taking care of me" (the night after surgery). I had a fever and my IV swelled my hand and she was very uncaring. I did send a complaint to the hospital about her. Otherwise, everyone was wonderful and caring.

My Nurse (M) whos not there anymore...told me i had a pain med addiction and she thought i didnt need it all..even though my dr ordered it i jusy had major surgery, she needed to keep comments to herself.my second nurse(R)she was the worst she was an older woman who had just no compassion WHAT SO EVER and a bad attitude always acted like i was such a bother plus she tripped and fell on my and my drain tube broke her fall it was the worst experience i ever had. My Dr said i could stay 1 more day cause i wasnt felling ready leave yet the gas was so intense and wouldnt come out very painful....this (R) woman comes in mins later after DR leaves and packs my stuff up and wheels me out to my car so fast i didnt know what hit me...but on the way to my car we were going down hill and she lost control of my chair...MU WAS AN HOSPITAL STAY FROM HELL. DR Fearings team was great just my nurses sucked...everyone else i see in the hospital was great but those 2 women

Hi, I had to change surgeons due to my original surgeon not practicing anymore. I have an appointment with Dr. Richardson in July at DesPeres Hospital in St. Louis. I'm sure I will like him, he has done over 1000 Rny's so I am looking forward to meeting with him to see what he says.rn
