I have not met Dr. LePort as of yet. That is in a couple of weeks. I have seen him on a video, and he does seem very friendly and very intelligent. I do know that he has been doing this for 30 years and loves his job. He has trianed several other Doctor's to do the WLS procedure. I chose him though, because I trust that he knows exactly what he is doing. I found out about him through "Smart Demensions" the staff and everybody has been wonderful. Everything is so well organized and professional. It has made this experience a very pleasent and peacful one.

The hospital was very clean. The staff very knowledgable and professional and personable. The floor was specific to bariatric patients so I was just placed on a med surg floor with general medical and surgical patients so I felt my care was a lot more attentive and personal. That made the stay great.

My first impression of him was I felt comfortable with him and I felt that I could trust him with my life! He's truly a blessing! My impression has only grown to more respect and admiration for him and his expertise! His office staff is very well trained, easy to talk to and very helpful before and after surgery! I can't think of anything I didn't like about him. I believe that potential patients should know that Dr. Le Port is a highly skilled, kind and knowledgable surgeon and they will feel confident with him. He emphasizes aftercare often, every 3 months after the first 2 months. Yes, he has a structured afercare program. He addressed all risks of surgery as well as physician assistants' talks with me and the new patient orientation coordinator. I would rate Dr. Le Port a perfect 10 in all respects! Both surgical competence and bedside manner are important and Dr. Le Port has both!

He is one of the finest Doctors I have ever met. And I have met many Doctors. Over time, my already positive impression only grew stronger. The staff at lite dimensions made me so comfortable throughout the entire process that I feel that I have made new friends that truly care about me.
The least favorable thing about him was... the inadequate display of Star Trek memorabilia in his office.
Future patients should know that he is experienced, insanely thourough and deeply caring of his patients.
The emphasis of aftercare was thorough and the aftercare program is solidly based and there for the patient.
The risks involved were quite explicitly explained and covered more than one time.
Overall, my Doctor really couldn't have done anything in the entire process that would have been better done again.
Both my surgery and treatment after were top notch and I feel, made for a much easier and quicker recovery.

Please read the entire entry so that you will have a clear idea of my experience...

I must say that if I had not wanted to have the sugery so badly, I probably would have gone elsewhere.

Dr LePort was on the phone for the first part of our first meeting (which by the way was the day before my surgery.)

He told me that I was very obese. (That was I surprise, because my BMI was only 57!!:-)

Actually, I pretty much felt like I was in a surgery-mill. Although in fairness, I was from out-of-state, and everything had to be done in just the 2 days prior to surgery. In addition, I paid cash, so didn't have the time getting to know his staff like those involved with insurance problems might have had.

The after-care was non-existent for me, as I was out of state. They told me they would be checking on me regularly by phone, but I never rec'd one call, even though I stayed for 3 months in California. (I was 2 1/2 hours away in Bakersfield).

So the moral of this story is, get to know the surgeon, be sure there is an after-care plan available to you, and go for laproscopic surgery rather than Open RNY, because I have a HUGE insisional (ventral) hernia that will have to be repaired.

Would I do this again, ABSOLUTELY!!! Dr LePort did a great job for me, surgically. I think he is very, very competent. I was a really "high-risk" candidate for this surgery, and he took me on, and I will always be greatful for that. I would recommend his office to anyone who lives close enough to benefit from the after-care etc, that he offers. Being out-of-state just was NOT the best thing for long-term effectiveness.

He is very informative on what to expect the life changes that have to be made. He has a great office staff and surgical team. I did not find anything that I dislike about him. This is a doctor that pulls no punchs he will tell you like it is and the things that you must do to make you surgery a sucess. He stresses that you should go to the support groups and keep to a deit and excercise program. He will inform you of the things that could go wrong with the surgery. He is a very good doctor in my opinion .

My first impression of Dr. LePort was that he know what he doing. My impression of him hasn't changed. The people that are working in his office are really good and they know what they are doing. There is nothing I don't like about him. When it come to after care, his office want to make sure that you keep all your app. with them. Both his surgical comptemce and bedside manner were both great.
