Ascension St. Vincent - Carmel Bariatrics Hospital
I have an appointment with Dr. Inman on November 26th, it was the soonest I could get in. I have heard good and positive things about Dr. Inman and her staff at St. V's Bariatric Center, so I am hoping that I will be able to get my questions answered and to be able to go through with this. I know it can be an emotional rollercoaster while waiting for approval and such, so I will work on making it a positive experience for me.
I met with Dr. Inman on November 26th and was impressed with her energy and honesty. She answered a lot of questions and treated me respectfully. Even though this surgery is very risky, I feel more at ease because she is a trauma surgeon and deals with emergencies all the time. As for dealing with my personal issues (co-morbities) relating to weight loss surgery, she suggested a vena cava filter to be put in my vein to block blood clots, which is an important thing with me since I have coagulation problems. I was comfortable with her professional manner; she is an intense woman and I expect she will be just as intense as a surgeon.
My first doctor was Dr Bruce Schimer in Charlottesville Va. And he was wonderful and his staff was just as professional. He did put you threw a battery of test but I felt I knew I was really for the surgery after the test and taking to him and his staff. Then I got tranfered to Indiana and I was referred to Dr Inman's office. And after Dr Schimer office I was not impressed at all. I felt like cattle being herded in and out compared to Dr Schimer. But I was pesist and I worked thru it and began to like Dr Inman very much. She very caring but it hard to deal with 2 offices of people the Baratric Center and her office too. Her post-op was the best because I did get to talk with her more and her office staff does treat you more on a one to one not cattle anymore......
I was going to Jeffersonville, IN. until I spoke with my pastor's wife and she was going to Dr. Inman. Jackie was telling me of all of her history and why she was going to her. I liked Dr. Inman when I was told of her 0 death rate and how she puts you through all of the tests that she does. Dr. Inman is great. Even after I came back to other visits she was still very concerned. Dr. Inman's office staff was also great. They would call to remind you of appointments and just to talk to see how you were doing. The only thing I didnt like was I only seen her the day of my cons. appoint. and the day of my surgery. I would like to have talked to her more to discuss some new things that has came up over the months I seen her last. I mean this is major surgery and my life, I know she is good it is you feel more at ease if you talk more with her.
The office staff on the insurance and Dr. Inman are great they answer all your questions and I would go back and do it all over again with the same people. After surgery you are to go to the clinic to discuss your weight and meals. Dr. Inman will tell you that this is not a quick fix it is just a tool to help you loose your weight. You have to be willing to change your eating style and excercise more. The program after surgery is a must. Dr. Inman puts you through tests that if she feels that your just doing this for a quick fix then she will not treat you. The aftercare is very important, with the vitamins and minerals that your body needs afterwards. Dr. Inman in her consult. meeting with you will tell you have the high risks with blood clots and other details. This is a major surgery and not to be taken loosely. That is why I prayed seven months prior to this surgery. I have to kids and a husband to go back to and that is why I wanted to loose weight to enjoy my family more. I have went to ballgames to watch my 6th grade daughter cheer and people has called came to my house and ask other people questions of my weight lose. I am very informative about this. I have given people information and have gone up to Dr. Inmans office with them to get them started. Why not help others? I know how hard it is to loose it. I would recommend Dr. Inman in a heart beat to all for the surgery. She is Great!!! Before and After the surgery she cares and so does her staff. In closing I do thank Dr. Inman and GOD for restoring my life. NIKKI

I am on my way to another surgery with dr. inman this time. I have had two surgerys with dr. huse with no success. my staple lines just wont heal over. I liked dr. Inman when I met her on rounds with Dr. huse she was taking his rounds. then when my last surgery failed I knew I wanted to see her. she is very knowledgeable and honest about what she is going to do and what she expects the outcomes to be. might I add while she is a very good surgeon. her office staff is also very helpful. that makes a huge difference.
I liked Dr. Inman and her no-nonsense attitude. She was very detailed in my consultation and She puts an emphasis on aftercare and she thinks this this is very important. She discussed risks and was very open and honest about them. I would have liked to have met with her alone but she had to be in surgery. I met with her PA and she was very nice but seemed to be rushing, she had lots of people to see. The office was very fat friendly, the chairs were awesome! :)
**Post-Op Update: DR. Inman was absolutely WONDERFUL through my whole surgery. I was very nervous and she was so caring and gentle. I had the best experience with her. She was great!
I agree with many of the comments that others have made about Dr. Inman. I found her to be very self-assured ( a very good trait in a surgeon!) and knowledgable. I also like the comprehensive nature of her program. I met with Cami (sp?) the PA following the meeting for my interview and liked her. My overall impression is very favorable.
I thought Dr. Inman was very nice. She was professional, but also did a very good job of putting you at ease and explaining the surgery in detail so you would know just what you were getting yourself into. She also makes sure to tell you that she has very small hands so your incision will be small also.
My friend Kellee and I asked Dr. Inman if there was any way we could have the surgery on the same day. She said we would have to wait and see what happens. I talked to the person who schedules the surgerys, (Vickie)
and asked her if there was any way Kellee and I could have our surgery on the same day. She said since our Insurance companys approved us at different times then she couldn't do that. The next day she called Kellee and asked her if she would like to have the surgery the same day as mine!!! Bless her heart!!!Sooooo......October 24 and 25 we go for our blood work-up, physical and history and our 5 hour nutrition class. Then November 16 will be the BIG day......We are very excited and also scared. We both go to a support group twice a month, which helps alot.
