I liked Anwar th minute i met him. He remained very attentive and sensative. Dr. Anwar's asst. Mira was so helpful EVERY time i called her. There is really nothing that i did not like about him. Future patients should know that he is VERY handsome and easy to talk to. We meet as a group once a month for 3 months then once every 6 months. I can call anytime i need to. I would give Dr, Anwar a 9.5.

I was always impressed with Dr. Anwar. He was good at explaining the surgery to me and I am really impressed with his bedside manners. He is very professional but also very kind. I would recommend my surgeon to anyone having this surgery. The program at Palo Alto is new but structured. The after care program is also structured. Dr. Anwar personally phoned me four days after my surgery. He was very concerned. I was one of the most blessed and fortunate bariatric patients. I did not have any problems. No pain. I felt like I have been supernaturally healed. I am no longer on insulin. My most recent lab results were fantastic. My primary physician said that it was like I never had diabetes.
I rate my surgeon above 100% in all aspects of my bariatric experience................The only thing that I disagreed with was when he addressed the risks. I knew that the God that I served had given me the supernatural approval for this surgery. I told Dr. Anwar that I knew without a doubt that I would come out of this successfully because I had divine approval. Hope you understand......

Dr. Houseworth was kind and very informative. Although we only met with him twice before surgery my husband and I were both very comfortable with him and happy to have him do my surgery. The day of surgery he checked in with us before surgery and checked in with my husband twice after I was out. His office staff are very helpful.

I first met Dr. Houseworth in September of 2012 at a seminar and pretty much instantly liked him. I visited with a handful of other surgeons but kept coming back to Dr. Houseworth. My surgery was performed this last November and let me tell you he did a fantastic job. He really takes the time to make sure you are well educated and prepared for the major life change you are about to endure. He has always been super friendly. I also LOVE his staff. Amanda (the woman who deals with referrals) was by far the most amazing person ever. We had tons of struggles with my insurance and she pushed and pushed till finally we got an approval. She was very patient with my tons of phone calls to the office :). Thank you Dr. Houseworth and staff!

Over last 5 years I have met with 2 other surgeons, but felt third time was the real charm when I met Dr. Houseworth. Very knowledgable, took the time to answer any and all of my questions, gave me his honest input which the other doctors were not willing to do, so that I could make my decision on which type of surgery was best for me.

Origng inally, Dr. Hirai was supposed to do my surgery but he quit leaving a message for me that I was not a candidate for surgery.
Dr. Houseworth saw me and was able to straighten evrything out so I could have my surgery. I worked really hard jumping through the hoops only to be told no. Dr. Houseworth cared enough to investigate and clear up Dr. Hirai's concerns. I am now 2 weeks post op and extremely happy. I am recommending my friends see him.

My surgeon was delightful and all the people from the center for weight loss surgery were very helpful and compassionate. But the nurses at St. Frances is another story.

While in my recovery from surgery I had a nurse belittle me, accuse me of vomiting on purpose, spill scalding water on me (then wipe my side off and tell me I was fine), make me cry, and give me medication that made me ill on more then one occasion.

I was recovering in the maternity ward (for some reason?) and I had pregnant tweens eyeing me over and giggling while I did my post-op laps around the ward which I didn't find amusing. I also had nurses treat me like a sack of crap.

Don't get me wrong, some of the nurses were absolutely amazing. One of them, when I kept vomiting up my pain meds, gave me some meds in my IV to let me rest for a while. She was my angel in the midst of all the hell I had to go through.

I had my own room and my boyfriend and roommate were allowed to stay with me through the duration, which was nice.

Other then that... Those nurses need to learn how to treat people who have just had major surgery with respect.

After many inquires with my insurance company, TriCare West, I found Dr. Houseworth on the web. I was very impressed with his education and military experience. One of the biggest factors was that my insurance company was accepted by Dr. Houseworth and after meeting him for my first appointment I knew that he was the one. The office staff are so helpful with the billing, questions and encouragement on my journey.

Within three weeks I had all the appointments done and had RN-Y surgery. Dr. Houseworth was there every step of the way, from the beginning, in the hospital and follow-up appointments. I am now 5 months post op, down 72 pounds and feel wonderful. This has been the best decision of my life, quality of life.

I would highly recommend Dr. Houseworth and his staff. Every time I go for an appointment with my list of questions, Dr. Houseworth answers them and is really involved with guiding me on my path of being healthy. In choosing Dr. Houseworth I got full service, a compentent surgeon, great beside manner and the feeling that I as a patient count, and my husband liked him which was the test.

I was lucky…because I really didn't research weight loss surgeons. I chose Dr. Houseworth simply as a result of a list provided to me by my insurance company. I'm thrilled to report that Dr. Houseworth is simply amazing! He has more than earned some positive feedback. He took extended time with me and my family to answer my exhaustive list of questions prior to having surgery. He was thorough to explain every option available to me and was completely supportive of my final decision to have the RNY gastric by-pass surgery. Dr. Houseworth saw me each day in the hospital following surgery to track my progress and ensure all was well. His post-op care after I went home was noteworthy. Sadly I did have to return to the hospital due to dehydration (my fault). Dr. Houseworth returned my call on a Saturday within just minutes and then met me at the hospital within the hour. Frankly I saw this as going beyond the call of duty as most surgeons would have 'called it in'. Dr. Houseworth takes his time with me at all of my post-op appointments. He provides tips and support and it feels like not only do you have a skilled surgeon on your side but you are also gaining a friend in the process.
